I've stayed at Ostinatto twice, and both time ended up extending my stay. It is in the perfect area of San Telmo, walkable to everything including the metro. I was there in the summer during a heat wave and I appreciated that the rooms have really high ceilings, made it bearable even without a/c. I was traveling solo and I... More

Normally I stay in 4 or 5 star hotels, but for a holiday trip to Buenos Aires, I decided to have a total different experience like a typical business trip. My guidebook showed me a very good recommendation. In the middle of the hot spot district of San Telmo, there is a clean and very nice hostel, named Ostinatto. It... More

But a bit run down. We were unfortunate to land during the worst heat wave in 50 years. Also, while our room was large and had big doors that opened onto the street, it was very noisy due to the location. What was most interesting was talking to the other travellers who had interesting stories to tell, including the Canadian... More

Breakfast is included (cereal, toast, jam, milk and juice) and 3 computers with internet are always available. There are lockers both in dorm rooms and in a separate storage area in the basement, and the hostel has its own bar, although we never drunk there. Wifi available and the hostel staff are happy to help you book trips and help... More

The staff are helpful and friendly but that is kind of a bear minimum and should be expected from every hostel. Wifi should be advertised 'sometimes in certain areas if you point your device at the router' Bar closes a lot earlier than advertised. So no need to listen to the rule about not bringing your own alcohol in the... More

Super friendly staff, very helpful (Mariano is a great guy!!!), great young atmosphere, very cleanliness... Close to tourist attractions such as Casa Rosada, and just a few streets from the bars and shops in the neighborhood of San Telmo.

Fantastic place to stay in a great location and for a very reasonable price. Great fully stocked kitchen that we were able to use to cook up a storm with the super cheap fresh fruit, veg and meat from the nearby market. Several computers with good internet connection available for use. Breakfast included, clean rooms and lots of mirror space... More

This is easily the best hostel we have stayed in, ever! We got one of the private rooms which had its own balcony, tv, mini fridge, microwave, bathroom etc. The staff are all amazing! All so friendly & helpful. The bar is great, cheap drinks & a very entertaining bartender. Great location near plenty of good restaurants & the famous... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighborhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighborhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A unique minimal hostel located in the historic neighborhood of San Telmo. Ostinatto is anything but old, but a recycled XX century building that combines an old structure with a fine minimalistic design. All of our rooms are clean and functional with plenty of locker space and new beds. All in all, Ostinatto offers something for everyone; close enough to be near all the action yet far enough to relax away from the bustle of downtown. ... more   less
