We are located in Buenos Aires, in the historical neighbourhood of San Telmo which is near the Obelisk, Plaza de Mayo, Congress Square, Puerto Madero and the popular street 'Caminito" in La Boca. Lina's Tango Guest House is of "Casa Chorizo" architecture which is typical of San Telmo and Palermo at the end of the 18th Century. The rooms are arranged one after the other, connected by a door and down was the bathroom and the kitchen. As the sausages are tied. Each space or room could convert sleeping room, living or eating room, according to the necesiddes of each family. Around the colourful patio, which is filled with plants and memorabilia, there are four unique rooms. Here on the patio, the guests have the opportunity to meet, relax and enjoy new friendships. Hospitality is most important to us. We love to share the culture of Buenos Aires and especially the Tango.

I am so glad I stayed in San Telmo. Lots of local life. And specifically I’m glad I stayed with Lina and Francisco. They were helpful with logistics in advance and had my room ready when I arrived. I stayed in a single at the top of the circular staircase and it had a little balcony overlooking the beautiful courtyard. Lina invited me to a milongo with her and friends-I was to tired from my flight but I should have gone.
Breakfast is simple-coffee, croissant, fruit juice and one morning eggs. One morning we sat and chatted for about an hour. It’s right by the San Telmo Mercado so great for lunch, and a short walk to plaza Mayor and plaza Doreggo.
The outside is bland and modern but don’t worry-you enter a wonderful old courtyard. I would definitely stay there again. A real find at a great price.
I should have taken a tango lesson!

Nice guesthouse in San Telmo, Buenos Aires with a charming host. The patio is really nice and quiet but Lina organized a party with some friends and guests on our first night there... but we were really tired after our 14 hours flight from Paris, so we could not relax very well.
I recommend the guesthouse mainly for solo traveller.

I can´t say enough good things about Lina´s Tango Guesthouse. I had the best time here. What a great place for a single female traveler to stay.

This small, extremely friendly, charming and comfortable bed and breakfast is an absolute delight. Don´t be fooled by the non-descript front entry. Inside is an oasis of friendly comfort and a charming, old fashioned interior. Rooms open directly onto an open courtyard, complete with full grown trees (and songbirds in the morning). A long, stately picnic table, bench and mural, nightlights across the patio, and a wrought iron tower of old tango shoes add a lot of charm. There is a compact but fully functional kitchen off the courtyard for the guests to use. There is enough space in the courtyard to have a party and dance, and sometimes that is exactly what happens. I meant to stay a few days and stayed a month! Met some wonderful people during my stay from around the world.

Upstairs is a communal living room / dining room that can be quickly transformed into a private dance or massage studio upon request. Lina has contacts and can line up lessons and treatments of all sorts if you want. She even has new, spare pairs of dancing shoes you can borrow for your tango lessons.

Lina and Lujan run the show here, and they both are extremely helpful and knowledeable, giving excellent advice and the insider´s track on the best (and most affordable) options for tango dancing, music, restaurants and attractions.

Lina always offers to take you with her to a local Milonga (Tango dance hall) for a personal and comprehensive explanation of the tango scene in Buenos Aires. This is a bonus for those that already know how to tango, and for those new to the whole scene. It is also a secure and wonderful way to experience Buenos Aires as a solo female traveler.

I would highly, highly recommend this place. It´s a great value for the money.

Frommer's rated this as 3 stars and one $ - you never find that combination, so we were psyched to stay at Lina's. Location in San Telmo is fantastic, and Lujan the manager is wonderful. Room was fine: clean, bright, somewhat charming. Interesting people stay here, including lots who come here to learn tango. When we were shown our room, we were surprised not only that our private bathroom wasn't ensuite (our fault for not checking), but also that the manager asked if it was OK that we SHARE the bathroom! She put it in such a way that we said yes. Later at the Sat. night tango party (see below) other people used it as well! We were out and came back to find this out. As for the party...it didn't end until 2 a.m., and it was right next to our room! Lina didn't care a whit that we were exhausted and wanted to sleep. So, though the price was great ($50 for a double) we left 3 days early and went to the Tryp Hotel, a fabulous place for $86/night. When I complained that one of the reasons we were leaving was because our room and bathroom hadn't been cleaned, the manager said "well, did you ask the housekeeper to clean it?" Why would we have needed to do that - and no one told us that in any case. Arghh!

The location of Lina's Tango Guesthouse is fantastic, so much better than many so called "San Telmo hotels". It's right in the middle of the neighborhood, easy walk to anywhere, and most importantly, it's so easy to get a taxi right in front of the door, at any time. Lina and her staff are very friendly. However, the services and facilities are very basic. There is no concierge service after 1:00pm. Breakfast is very plain. Although it's perfect for someone who knows their way around BsAs, and only look for cheap accomdations to sleep in the night.

This Argentine Style B&B is rough on the outside with a welcoming inside. Lina is a kind hostess with a likewise bright and helpful staff.

My room was in the unfortunate location of being on the receiving end of a roof leak. Ugly stains on the wall and the mildewy scent was awful. But to her credit, she moved me the minute I asked and promptly called a contractor to help her figure out a solution.

It is located just 2 blocks from the main subway line and two major avenues - 9 de Julio and Independencia. The furniture is older and simple and the place is kept very clean.

The area is more rundown than I expected. And the outside of the pensione is rough, but the inside has a charming courtyard with a guest kitchen that was really nice to use.

Lina is very nice but the service is low even for the price. In the winter the room was very cold upon arrival and it was a day before it warmed, it was also very noisy. The sheets are changed every 4 days, the same with room cleaning. The heavy curtains were very dusty. The breakfast minimal and cold, as it is put out early and just sits on the table no matter how what time you go for breakfast. The spring time may be better. San Telmo is of course a very interesting neighborhood.

A woman traveling alone...and loving it! that's me!! Of course you must choose a safe environment to stay, especially in big cities! WEll! Let me tell you, fellow travelers, LINA'S TANGO GUESTHOUSE in San Telmo was an excellent choice!!! The place is small and very welcoming thanks to its hostess/owner, the beautiful and friendly Lina Acuna!!! The place is clean, cheerful and luminous! Full of flowers and plants! But even more so by the friendliness of Lina who takes the time to make you feel at home! Giving practical tips about navigating in gorgeous Buenos Aires and bohemian San Telmo! In only five days I already felt I was part of the neighborhood!!...and of Lina's household, having met her husband Raul and her adorable son Paul!!!
I can't say enough about my stay (too short!...MUST come back!), at Lina's Guesthouse. There, I met great people! A couple from Switzerland, Romi and Johannes, another from Germany, Ursula and Will, and Julianna, from Canada!! all these people brought together for the love of the Tango. Of course Ernesto will teach you if you want to learn! Just ask Lina!!
I will come back as soon as I can! I had the time of my life in Buenos Aires and at Lina's Tango Guesthouse!! Gracias Lina! Hasta pronto! Te recuerda tu nueva amiga Sylvia...de Dallas!!!

We enjoyed our stay even in Bs Aires winter. A little cold in room when arrive was helped by using high temp on well functioning a/c. Clean room with good bathroom - hot water. Small italian- style breakfast. Wifi well functioning. Centrall located in San Telmo. 10 min walk down Bolivar to 25th Mayo Plaza and 15 min to Obelisc on 9th July Av. The metro is 3 min walk. Bus 29 to La Boca 3-4 min. Francisco and his staff took good care of us and helped us on many practical things. We recommend this charming home in San Telmo.

We booked for 4 nights in October 2012, tried to stay but left in the mid of the first night. No sign of a guesthouse in the street, just a prison type iron door a small hall in the middle of it giving the impression that the area is extremely unsafe, which is not the case in Buenos Aires, at least no armed gangs, just nice taxi drivers trying to exchange fake banknotes.

We arrived early evening, a nice young lady opened the front door and left in two minutes, there was nobady to ask questions. A strong smell of dust and humidity, rooms do not have window or air conditioner, for fresh air you have to keep door open all night, which is not possible because of mosquito and small insects.

For the upper level room, you have to use a tiny rolling iron stairs, no room for your bags, you have to use manuel spinning wheel for the language.

WiFi was very stable and reliable all the time. I was only surfing with my mobile phone and the speed was really good. But I can't tell an exact bandwidth and speed when working with a notebook etc
