What a beautiful old building, with great history and architectural interest. San Telmo is a barrio of great character, and the Dandi is well located. They treated me like royalty - a fabulous host was so kind and helpful.

On a quiet street in the San Telmo (old neighborhood). Wonderful woodwork, professional staff with some English speakers. Within walking distance to many local restaurants and bars. Wonderful historic property and reasonable prices.

This property is a historic building, originally built as a private residence and visually stunning. Surprises abound with soothing sitting places throughout this hotel. The staff were welcoming, gracious and very informative. Breakfasts were very good. Loved the tango lesson! There are numerous excellent restaurants within a 5 - 10 minute walk. If I ever get back to BA I...

A classic art nouveau building turned into tango themed hotel with a great atmosphere, daily tango classes, weekly milonga and several dance floors available to use for private lessons and practice. Great location in San Telmo within walking distance of restaurants, bars, cafés, milongas, antique shops and markets, and close to the metro as well. Very nice and helpful staff!

The hotel was in a good location and was once I imagine a grand place to say but that is about all I can say that is positive. The roof top pool was dirty as was the rest of the hotel, the toiletries were not replenished in the bathroom and we had to go looking for shampoo, the breakfast was...

Yes, the tango lessons and milongas were wonderful but for sheer kindness of the staff, especially Christian the concierge, the pretty rooms, dazzling house, you can't beat it. Even the garden was a delight for us smokers. Srt close to an excellent transport system and great and reasonably priced restaurants, it can't be beaten unless you're very rich

I stayed with 8 other Tango enthusiasts in Hotel Mansion Dandi for 10 nights in January. The decor throughout is superb. Wherever there is a wall, inside or outside, it has a mural depicting the heyday of Tango upon it. These murals are very intricate and many are in relief. The Superior rooms are spacious with parquet floors and high...

I have just spent 10 nights in this fabulous hotel. From day one I was welcomed with open arms and made to feel totally at home. I stayed in room 205, a delightfully pretty room on the back of the Mansion facing the garden/courtyard. My room was clean, quiet and offered everything I could possibly need for my comfort. The hotel is beautiful and has tremendous period features. This comes at a price, however. The soundproofing in your rooms we were in was poor and they were very dark - great for coolness, but maybe request a room with a window . The main issue for us was plumbing. Lack of water at all was fixed very quickly ,...

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
