This isn't the most modern hotel in Buenos Aires but it is comfortable and the breakfast buffet is good. We stayed here a couple of nights and were satisfied with our room. A good place to stay if you are on a budget.

This is a little bit old hotel but with a good staff and with a nice breakfast. I have choiced that Hotel due its proximity for the "Micro-Centro". This place is very near of Calle Lavalle, Florida and next to the legend "Obelisco". On the first day I had some trouble with the wireless connection my bedroom but I asked...

One of the dirtiest, most horrible hotel experiences ever! Room was filthy, corridor smelled of cigarettes and urine, toilet was dirty and the shower cabin full of mould (see photos). Absolutely disgusting and a complete rip off for what they charge. Staff were rude and completely unhelpful. NEVER AGAIN.

The room itself was dark, dreary, and a bit run down, but I was nonetheless fairly comfortable there. One of the elevators seems to have frequent problems, and they are of the old style where you have to close the grate before it will move (meaning if someone does not close it properly, it gets stuck.) The air-con had to...

I've read some of the other reviews and I don't have any complaints from my time there. Esmeralda Palace Hotel is just an average hotel the happens to be in a neighborhood that's seen better days. Our room was clean and perfectly sufficient. There was ample space for the two of us, tv, desk, chair, nice bathroom, it was a...

The hotel is very central, located on a very noisy street (our room was very noisy). Lady at reception was extremely unfriendly. Rest of staff was fine and helpful. Expensive for what you get.

Staying in San Nicolas

Neighborhood Profile
San Nicolas
Immersed in the sound of honking horns and the footsteps of busy office workers, the Microcentro area of San Nicolás is where visitors will encounter the true hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires, walking down streets lined with office buildings and banks. The financial district is well-known for its vibrant atmosphere and unstoppable rhythm during office hours. After dark, the hubbub migrates to Corrientes Ave., where theater lovers might start their evening at a play and end it in one of the many traditional pizzerias nearby. During the day, Corrientes is known for its many bookshops and classic cafés, which are located just minutes away from some famous landmarks, like the Obelisco, Avenida 9 de Julio, and the Teatro Colon.

“A higher room would help with street noise.”

“We had a room to the back, so it wasn't noisy at all. Just keep in mind if you are there in the summer that you have to ask the front desk to turn on your air conditioning. You can't do it from the room itself and they'll turn it off as soon as you head out for the day.”
