The Alvear Art Hotel garners praise for its expansive and pristine rooms, as well as for the attentive and professional service provided by its staff. Guests appreciate the luxurious amenities, especially the modern bathrooms with double sinks and jacuzzi features. While the location is highly regarded for its convenience, opinions on the atmosphere are mixed, with some finding the decor uninspiring. Despite the commendations, concerns about additional charges for basic services and a lack of breakfast variety have been noted by some visitors.

We went to Bueno’s Airies with a Gate 1 tour and we enjoyed staying at the Alvear Art Hotel. My husband requested a walk in shower because of an injury and the box shower was like showering in luxury! The staff were very accommodating, efficient and personable. Everyone!

The hotel has a great location, from there you can walk to the obelisk, the main tango show in Buenos Aires, flower street and many others. If you like walking, Porto Madeiro is 40 minutes away.
The breakfast is excellent, the friendliness of the staff is impeccable. The hotel has a swimming pool that is small in size but gigantic in view. We stayed on the second floor and the hotel has excellent insulation from both external and internal noise.

After 16 hours of travelling from the UK we were blessed to say at this hotel for 3 nights. Checking in was easy we got access to our room straight away (1330 in the afternoon). The hotel is spotless with some wonderful works of art. We were lucky enough to stay on the 14th floor with great views of the city and a glimpse of the sea. The bed was supremely comfortable, we were able to watch sport on the tv in the room. We asked for small bits of kind service like the use of cutlery for our take out, the use of a stapler for our luggage tags etc all were done with the minimum of fuss. WiFi worked really well. My one “complaint” is the location and there is not much the hotel can do about that but you are not close to most of the tourist activities. That said UBER’s are so cheap in this country it was no hardship at all.

No complaints about the hotel staff.
Clean room. Small ,but nice and clean spa facilities.
This is the only hotel where they only provide 2 free coffee pods for the room for the duration of stay . The next days you have to pay for it. You are better off buying a sleeve of Nespresso in the street and bring it for your room coffeemaker. Nickel and dime your guests for such items does not qualify a hotel as luxury.
Annoying mosquitos were in the lobby, elevator and room and perhaps something could be done about it.
We had breakfast included. Unfortunately ,we had to leave one day early for a day trip and another day for the airport. The low rating is because of the restaurant staff attitude. I found them unwilling to help and rude. We only asked for one almond croissant per person to be packed ,but were told is not possible to choose, someone will pack at night whatever they want ,etc . We gave up and did not ask for breakfast take-out the last day. Someone should advise them what service means and that we are paying guests and have a choice for food and hotel. I will not return there.

Location is really good, close to most things. Hotel is clean and comfortable with friendly, helpful staff. However, let down by silly extras which could easily be built into room pricing as most hotels do….e.g. we were surprised that in a 5 star hotel, we were charged on checkout for the coffee pods we used in the room ($3 per pod!) This wasn’t made clear either by staff or in the room that it was an extra, especially as it was the only option in the room for a hot drink. Most hotels that differentiate room options by the coffee facilities don’t put the machines in the lower grade rooms. Also, any prepared eggs at breakfast are charged as extras , again unusual for a 5 star hotel, although this was at least made clear to us before ordering, but at $6 for two fried eggs seemed a lot. Even though the absolute price itself is not a lot, it’s the principle for such a minor thing that’s usually included given the low cost to the hotel and the high price of the rooms.

From start to finish this hotel was a delight to stay in, I was sad to leave it! We booked the studio room and it was a good size room, the bed was huge and so comfortable, you push a button from your bed and the blinds open/close, there was complimentary water every day, the bathroom was well designed with separate shower, whirlpool bath, separate room for the toilet and all in marble. There is a turn down service in the evening too.

I swam in the swimming pool on the top floor and it was lovely and warm, it has lovely views over the city of Buenos Aires so we watched the sun rise and set from this location. The ceiling on the pool room fully retracts so you can see the sky – it’s beautifully designed, with a huge tap gushing out water for a massage. There is also a Jacuzzi next to the pool to relax after your swim!

Breakfast had a really good selection of hot and cold foods, fresh fruit, honey comb (which was a huge draw) that you cut off yourself, cakes and pastries. All drinks are served at the table by staff, who were very quick and efficient.

We ate in the bar one evening and staff were a little slow but the food was really nice.

The concierge at reception was fantastic – he ordered taxi’s for us and showed us the best taxi’s to get on our own so we didn’t get ripped off (radio taxi’s) – a 30 minute taxi ride in BA will cost approximately 300 pesos (~£1) – an absolute bargain compared to the UK!!! The concierge also called various places for us and passed along messages very promptly, he was excellent!

The hotel is very close to lots of restaurants, cafés and small shops selling chocolate, drinks etc but the hotels itself is tucked down a little side street, hidden away and very quiet once you are inside.

Overall, an excellent hotel, one I would most definitely stay in again and recommend.

Three nights B&B, happy with our choice, comfy and well serviced rooms, albeit some maintenance needed on some tap fittings and door handles. Helpful staff, good breakfast and nice ambience. BA such a big City that location, whilst not on the main road, does not affect your travels as taxis always available. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in the hotel and BA

Wow, what a wonderful hotel! We stayed here at the end of our two-week vacation in Chile and Argentina, and it was a great way to end the trip. The hotel is architecturally impressive and is well-located for seeing attractions in Buenos Aires. We walked almost everywhere we wanted to go. Our room was very spacious and had blackout shades and many other amenities. The bathroom was one of the largest hotel bathrooms I have experienced, with two sinks on a spacious counter, a whirlpool bathtub, shower and toilet/bidet enclosure. The staff was very helpful, and the restaurant top-notch. Highly recommended.

Stayed in the Alvear Art for three nights and an enjoyable stay it was too. Room was large, clean and comfortable with a lovely large bathroom that had a separate "jacuzzi" bath as well as a separate walk-in shower.

Hotel staff were approachable and friendly, providing a nice service at breakfast and in the bar area. The reception staff were helpful also, advising on check in and the local area.

The hotel is in a good location and you can walk to many areas from it, in a safe environment.

Really enjoyed our stay here and when we left we felt refreshed and ready for the rest of our trip

I want to express my deepest discontent and rejection of this establishment. The hotel, instead of exchanging dollars for pesos using the country's official exchange rate, uses the MEP exchange rate, which makes the payment absurdly high. The Argentine government established the tourist dollar, in this way, foreigners visiting the country gain purchasing power when paying with a card, as the exchange rate is different from the official one so that the price of accommodation is cheaper for tourists. (The official amount is charged and then the exchange is made using the tourist dollar) However, as the hotel does not use the official exchange rate, whoever absorbs this difference, which should belong to the tourist, stays with the hotel. I had to pay close to two million pesos for a week, an astronomical amount that is incompatible with the prices charged in the city due to the exchange rate used by the hotel. I will take the appropriate legal measures against the Booking.com website, as the website indicates the use of the official exchange rate at the hotel and at check in (yes, in this place you pay at the entrance and + 150 thousand pesos blocked in credit as deposit) the amount charged was almost 2 million pesos!!!!

I am a traveler, this is not “my hotel”. I believe the hotel website had an option to pay the hotel for transportation pickup. This of course would be more expensive then getting your own taxi at the airport.
