Neighborhood
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.

Stayed three nights at the hotel. Not many hotels today follow this grand traditional style. Massive rooms nicely appointed. Staff efficient and friendly. Large dining area for breakfast which provided many options. Indoor poll and gym were more than adequate.

A regular large hotel. Not many people when we were there. Clean rooms. The location is on a large street between a high end area and an industrial marginal area. The restaurant was ok. but we ate in the bar.

A beautiful hotel in walking distance to Recoleta, Florida Street (not my favorite place!) and Palermo..... Big, clean rooms and a wonderful bathroom with separate shower and tub. Helpful staff and a spacious lobby.....

Good, accurate advice given. Our cost was $31 US & was paid at the taxi kiosk near the exit doors of the airport. An "assistant" steered us to a taxi in the queue, helped load our luggage & expected a small tip. Our driver spoke mostly Spanish but I speak Spanish & we learned a lot about the area we were driving through, culture, sports, holidays, history, etc. Friendly & helpful, as we found everyone to be in BA. Take a taxi. Yes.
