Neighborhood
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.

This hotel was a wonderful place to spend the only 2 nights we had in Buenos Aires. Service was amazing! The room was beautiful and elegant, and the lobby spacious and welcoming. When we left it was in a hurry and I did not check the final bill. Later, I noticed that I was charged more then the price agreed. I immediately wrote to them. I received a response right away that they would check with the registration personnel. By the next day, they write back and said they made a mistake and that my card had been credited. Sure enough! We also loved the location as we could walk everywhere. It is right across (almost) from the train station as well. Highly recommend!!

Stayed here two (not consecutive) nights on way elsewhere and return. Central location (as much as I could tell from a brief city tour) and very comfortable as you would expect from the rating. Lifts were slightly confusing as not all give access to the pool and spa at the lower level, and the signposting of these either did not exist or escaped my attention. Breakfast was good and plentiful buffet style, and informal bar meals were also good. Staff were uniformly helpful, pleasant and courteous.

Older hotel with modern charm and service. Beds comfortable, bath roomy, nice stay. Breakfast rushed and a bit picked over first morning- large soccer team present. Had lunch one day and enjoyed it. Staff pleasant and accommodating-very detail oriented, had to return to registration desk because copy of passport unclear. On busy, noisy street, pedestrian center of town a 20 minute walk.

This hotel was ideal for my recent business trip to BA. Nice lobby and bar area perfect for hosting private business meetings. Great location to get around town and is in walking distance to upscale shopping mall and dinning areas. The hotel doesnt have much life in the evenings, so best to make plans out of the hotel unless you just want to relax.

We were booked into this hotel for one night prior to the departure of our cruise, but added two extra nights in order to have more time to see Buenos Aires. The hotel does seem to be a popular choice for cruise companies and airline staff, who are only staying for one night, but it is not in an ideal location to see the city, although there are some very good restaurants close by, and it is only around 20 minutes walk from the Recoleta Cemetery, which is a popular tourist destination. There are many tours, eg, City tours, Gaucho experiences, Tigre Delta excursions and Tango shows that do pick up from this hotel, and this is important because of the hotel’s location, and we were also advised that Buenos Aires is not safe to be out late at night. However, be aware that these tours spend a lot of time picking up and dropping off at the various hotels around Buenos Aires, and therefore a more central location may be preferable. As a hotel, it was ok, but having arrived at 1:00pm after a long overnight flight, followed by a lengthy queue through immigration, and a dodgy taxi ride from the airport, it was annoying that hotel policy did not allow us to check into our room until after 3:00pm, despite having enquired in advance, unless we agreed to pay an additional charge.
