We stayed as part of our honeymoon trip and the hotel was recommended by our tour company. The hotel is a contemporary conversion of a historic house. Design is ok but insertion of mezzanine a into high ceiling rooms make the spaces feel claustrophobic. The only natural daylight (and ventilation!) is from a light-well/internal courtyard, but as we were on... More

We stay here for a few nights for the convenient location. The rooms were nice with a small lounge, a nice bathroom and a bed upstairs in some sort of loft design. TV and wifi signal were pretty decent although we didn't stay that much in the hotel. The reception staff and night guard were really nice people but their... More

First, let me say that I am a seasoned traveler who likes to live better than I do at home, when I travel. I did my research before booking anything. I loved this intimate unique hotel, the charm and quality was above my expectations. There are only 12 suites which explains why it feels so intimate. There is a lovely... More

All the hotel staff was rude from the beggining to the end of the trip. They charge you money for leaving your bags when you check out and have a late flight. The breakfast is poor and they don't refill once the food is over. Avoid it, if it depends on me i'll never stay on this hotel again!

Dear Artur T Regarding to your coments, I would like to inform that breakfast goes from 7:30 to10:30am. During that time our staff will be most glad to serve “all you can eat” out from the 17 different options. When breakfast time ends, we keep something light for some more minutes but –as in any other hotel- we do not... More

Hotel location is fantastic, quiet and safe. Suites are well appointed, elegant and comfortable, with living quarters downstairs and bedroom on mezzanine. There is a full bathroom on each floor, a fridge, coffee maker and safe on the lower level. There's free WIFI everywhere in the hotel. There is no elevator but the staff takes care of the luggage. A... More

My friend and I stayed here in a loft style suite and loved our stay! The location is great as we love the culture and history of San Telmo, and the room was lovely and comfortable with a very cosy bed. This is a boutique hotel and being so, it is a different and more special experience then big chain... More

Dear TIROmi: Thanks so much for your kind comments. In San Telmo Luxury we work very hard to change "stays" and turn them into "experiences", due this is not a regular kind of hotel: its an historical 1867 house well restaured and decorated in the heart of oldest and most charming Barrio of the city. I think you´ve catch the... More

This is very much a design-driven boutique hotel, with rooms that have the bed on a mezzanine platform reached by steep stairs. Our room was quite small with a wardrobe that only fitted about five hanging garments and no drawers at all, so we had to leave our clothes in the suitcase downstairs. The bathroom had not been renovated at... More

Dear Gill: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the community. Endeed I see you have booked a Junior Suite, the smallest (and most economy) type of room. We like to call them “suites”, because the high ceilings of the old house provides enough room for two floor as in a loft. Even they are the... More

I loved this hotel so much I didn't want to leave. It's so cute, and so well designed, every detail is thought through. We probably stayed at the worst room (107), which was in the back and pretty dark, so I can only imagine how great the other rooms are. The high ceilings makes the room feel very spacious. The... The hotel has recently had a major make-over of an old building which made clever use of the high rooms – we had a junior suite (their description) in which the bed was on a mezzanine floor above the lounge / bathroom area. After 21 hours of travelling, our arrival here was a big disappointment - this was an expensive... More

Great little friendly hotel. Large rooms, but they are all two levels so not appropriate if stairs are an issue for you. Great value. Very basic breakfast included - rolls, fruit, cereal, coffee. We love the location of San Telmo, the older edgy part of town versus the more cosmopolitan Recoleta. Lots of interesting artistic shops in area plus the... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighborhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighborhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to San Telmo Luxury Suites. Many years ago, when this dream started, we thought of you: a guest interested on San Telmo’s neighborhood, willing to walk through its cobbled streets, discover and explore its restaurants, traditional bars, markets and magic antique stores. But specially interested on experiencing the unique sensation of living at a typical San Telmo ‘casona’: a place where secrets and history are revealed in every corner. With a lot of love and dedication, we have restored this building, and given back its value to every single little detail. Our specialists worked side by side with the Historical Preservation Association; a relationship that ended with the declaration of this house as a Historical Monument of Buenos Aires City. And today, from the very heart of our Barrio, we introduce you to San Telmo Luxury Suites: a solid bridge between past and present, to the lovers of excellent service and comfort who prefer a more private and fascinating alternative for their stay in Buenos Aires. ... more   less
