This little hotel located in the heart of San Telmo is so comfortable and welcoming It felt like spending the weekend at a good friend's house. The room was comfortable, charming and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was like a little heaven to take a long bath after a long travel. Everything about this hotel was charming and homey. The staff... More

My friend and I stayed here for 1 night on a Sunday night since we wanted to visit the San Telmo Sunday Market. We paid U$120 plus tax through booking.com. This was the perfect location for the Sunday market - minutes walk to the Defensa Street. Sylvia welcomed us and showed us to Room 1 on the ground floor -... More

The Zorzal was truly a gem, and a great value. Location is ideal. The interior has been beautifully restored to showcase the charm and history of this wonderful hotel. From the stained glass to the floors, woodwork, and ironwork, it is magnificantly gorgeous. Everything, from the staff, to the rooms, was fantastic. The bar and lounge are inviting and lovely.... Stayed there for two days, went to Uruguay, and came back we liked it so much. Greta and Sylvia are fantastic and couldn't have been more helpful. In fact, I left my hat in a nearby restaurant and, when I learned I'd lost it, emailed Greta. She went to the restaurant and it was waiting for me upon our return.... More

We had difficulty choosing where to stay in Buenos Aires - there is so much choice! We settled on this hotel in the end and weren't disappointed. The property is classic San Telmo and the pictures are accurate. It is all vintage charm. The downstairs lounge makes it feel like a home, and yet the adjoining restaurant/cafe area looks like... We passed this small restaurant and boutique hotel on Humberto 1° street, which is pronounced "Humberto Primo" in Spanish, on our way from the subway (subte) to the San Telmo market. After walking around the market we came back for wonderful salads, with fresh arugula. The baños were the cleanest public bathrooms I have ever seen, and one of the... More

Recently stayed here, and this place is just devine. Amongst the hustle and bustle of San Telmo, Zorzal is a little piece of heaven- it is effectively a beautiful old house converted into a hotel. The rooms are grand and elegant, yet still very new. The staff are incredibly attentive. I couldn't reccomend this place any higher.

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
