I really liked La Perla. It's full of character, from the lift that reminded me of old buildings in Johannesburg, to the high pressed ceilings and wooden floors. l love old character buildings, so the place really appealed to me. I'm a difficult person to cater for, as I have food allergies, but they went out of their way to... More

The owners do a fantastic job making you feel like you are welcome guests in their home, which is a beautiful old, restored building with lots of charm. They gave us lots of great tips and advice about BA, helped us with things like arranging a 5am taxi etc, and were extremely personable and friendly, without being at all intrusive.... More

La Pera is a fabulous place to stay when you visit Buenos Aires. It is so convenient to the centre of the city and an easy walk to many attractions. This said Valentyn and Ada are the stars and they made my stay here very special. The highlight of my stay was going with Valentyn and Ada to their local... More

Ada and Valentyn could not have been more helpful, friendly, informative and kind. And taking us to an authentic Argentine Tango club was the icing on the cake (both are excellent dancers; in fact, Ada is a highly regarded teacher of Tango). The rooms are spare, uncluttered, comfortable and airy. And spotlessly clean (as are the lovely bathrooms). And quiet!... More

La Perla is a lovely bed and breakfast with first-rate service. For me, there is no better place to stay in Buenos Aires. I stayed at La Perla in 2014, again in the spring of 2015, and returned for 19 more nights in December. It is a small bed and breakfast establishment in an old building in which the rooms... More

We had a wonderful stay at La Perla. We loved the charming and quiet old French style apartment with high ceilings and wooden floors. Ada and Valentyn were great hosts and went to great lengths to take care of us. They made our experience in Buenos Aires very special. The nights spent at authentic milongas with them were definitely highlights... More

La Perla has a great location right by the Plaza de Mayo. An easy walk to all the sights in the Centre and in San Telmo but also very close to the Subte if you prefer. Given that location, La Perla's rooms are very quiet and calm. What really sets this place apart is the warm welcome from Ada and... More

La Perla was perfect in so many ways. An excellent location in the heart of the City with easy access to major sites and transport. Superb accommodation with delicious breakfast including homemade bread and the best coffee (and we Aussies are very fussy about our coffee). Wonderful hosts in Ada and Valentyn who made us feel welcome, comfortable and offered... More

I love Valentyn and Ada! They made me feel so at home in Argentina and were hugely helpful during my stay. They had recommendations for things to do in Buenos Aires and I really appreciated their local POV. If you want to get a local experience of the Tango - please go out with these two. We went to absolutely... More

There are many good things about La Perla...including the hosts Valentyn and Ada. The location could not be better, close enough to the main attractions and the subway. We were a bit daunted at the thought of using the subway but after having tried it once we were sorry we had not used it from day one. A true highlight... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighborhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighborhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
