I don't exactly know the age of the building, it is most likely a 100 years old, more or less. Each floor of the building has a high ceiling, that is how the hostel can accommodate many of its bunk beds. You have to appreciate the hostel from the outside, not the inside. This hostel also has an elevator, each... More

I stayed and worked at this hostel for 3 weeks. It's unlike any hostel I've stayed at because you just want to stay for longer and longer. The warm living room area feels like a home. The cool guys at the desk can answer any questions. The breakfast is fantastic; you don't even have to wash your own dishes! The... More

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location was perfect because of the 25 de Mayo holiday. The other guests here were really nice and friendly. A very international and multiculturaled place. The service was very helpful for finding whatever information I needed. I would different stay here again.

Its a beautiful old hotel that has been transformed into a hostel. Right on one of the most important intersections in Buenos Aires, 9 de Julio and Av de Mayo (the road connecting the presidents house and Congress). There is tons to do and the staff are all incredible, knowledgeable, and friendly. If you decide you dont feel like doing... More

We stayed here for five nights, and to sum it up - we wouldn't come back here. In overall, the hostel looks good and it does have an amazing location at the center of the city with public transportation to anywhere, BUT we had quite a frustrating stay. There were a few good things though - It's cheap (100 pesos... More

I stayed and worked at this hostel for 6 weeks. I absolutely loved every minute of it. The manager and fellow staff were amazing. The hostel is in an awesome location in the city, had the best breakfast I've had at any hostel in South America and a great DJ at the bar. I would recommend this hostel to anyone... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighborhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighborhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
