Had a wonderful stay at Casa Calma. From the moment of arrival on a busy Sunday morning, all the staff members were attentive and very helpful. The staff orients you to the city map and is always available for suggestions as to dining and tourist sites. The rooms are lovely and larger than I expected, and the hotel is quiet.... More

Casa Calma is a small, nicely appointed, beautifully run hotel. It's modern and up-to-date. There is a dining room for breakfast and snacks later in the day. The rooms are large, quiet and very private. Great bed and great shower! We received a lovely welcome and a walk-through of our room with a explanation of how everything worked. We had... More

We spent one night at Casa Calma upon our arrival in Buenos Aires, and regret that we didn't get to spend more time there. We booked in advance and received a nice welcome email about a week in advance of our stay asking if we had any questions and attaching a list of helpful suggestions of things to see and... More

Casa Calma was a wonderful hotel for us. It was our first time in Buenos Aires. The location made getting around very easy. The staff were very helpful, the room was excellent - clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfasts were very good, and the little self-serve lounge was a nice touch.

It's is set in a quiet and safe neighbourhood. The rooms are large and well equipped. We particularly valued the double jacussi because we did walk everywhere. The breakfast... More

Casa Calma is a boutique hotel, 2 rooms per floor, located on a soon to be pedestrian street just one block from the major parallel arteries in the city center, Avenue 9 de Julio and Carlos Pellegrini. The hotel location provides easy, safe walking to major attractions such as the Teatro Colon. We stayed at Casa Calma twice during March,... More

If you’re looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay in Buenos Aires−in a quiet location but easily accessible to restaurants, shops, and attractions−you can’t find a warmer welcome than at CasaCalma. Although my wife and I spent only one night there in advance of a Cape Horn cruise, it was a highlight of our trip. Our room (902... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
