Bio Hotel is located on a peaceful location in Koper, just a few minutes away from the old city center. It's a cozy family hotel with a long tradition, all of which makes you feel like at home. Besides the 29 rooms avaliable, the hotel also has a restaurant, known for its great mediterranean cuisine. The location is ideal for discovering the city of Koper and other destinations nearby, such as Piran, Postojna Cave, Skocjan Caves, Lipica Stud Farm or Predjama Castle. Cities likes Trieste, Venice, Ljubljana or Pula are also just a short drive away. An excellent way for discovering the coastal region is by bike, which are avaliable at our hotel for free. Kind and friendly staff will provide you with all the help you need and try to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel over the weekend. At the first glimpse, I was a little bit worried, that I made a mistake by booking weekend getaway in this hotel. However, in the moment, that we stepped in the lobby, my worries disappeared. The lobby already gave a warm filling, maybe because of fireplace or big, cozy chairs. Staff is very friendly, welcoming and skilled. Our room was on the first floor, looked on the main street. Room was very big, bed cozy; there was also a big sofa in the room, so a third person would easily stay with us. Bathroom was also very big, and there was a tub, which I did not expect. Room was very quiet; we did not hear neighbors or any sounds from the main street. There was also large balcony. Breakfast was good, simple. There is also a restaurant as a part of hotel, and it is possible for the guest of hotel and random guest to come and have diner in this restaurant. We ate dinner at our first evening and it was tasty. If you plan your stay over the weekend, you have to consider the fact, that restaurant is closed on Sundays. Hotel is a little bit far from the Koper beach, maybe half hour walk, with car 5 minutes, so you bring your walking shoes if you plan to walk to the city center or to the beach.
Overall, the stay was nice. There is still a room for improvement, maybe more closets for clothes in the little lobby, which is also a part of the room and probably muffles the sound from the hall.

We landed at Hotel Bio in Capodistria / Koper by chance. Everything turned out to be OK, from welcome desk and registration to the room and beddings, bathroom with working shower. We parked in front of the hotel, next to the door. We felt it would be safe there, in a well-lit place.
Our car GPS had brought us the the hotel without a hitch. The room was clean, enough hangers in the cabinets and hooks in the B-room. Soft bath towels OK.
Then we had dinner in front of the fireplace: Excellent!
The owner let us leave our car on the hotel's parking lot while we pursued our trip by another mean: Very kind !
Everything is so good, then why 4 stars only?
The place misses some warmth (gemütlichkeit) and charm to be rated 5 stars.

A modest budget hotel in the small town of coastal Slovenia, Koper. The rooms are okay although the washrooms need to be redone. The breakfast is generous with several different choices to pick from, fresh. The personnel is courteous and helpful. Best of all, the steak with truffles, the swordfish carpaccio and the selection of wines by the glass (only a euro each)! We were very impressed with the hotel's food. I recommend it for guests and visitors alike! Nice terrace.

We booked late and ended up in this hotel, which reminded me of Sons of Anarchy. It is clear this hotel is well beyond its prime. There was nothing bio about the hotel or the breakfast. Except for some local prunes almost all food and beverages came out of tins or other plastic containers. The people at the reception and the cook seemed bored out of their mind and were not very friendly.

The hotel was quite basic which surprised my friend and I because it was rated No.1 on TripAdvisor!

It was functional and basic and that's the best of it. The plug sockets were hanging off of the walls, the water pressure for the shower was terrible and the view of the petrol station wasn't the best thing one could look at in the morning.

On a positive note, the room had aircon and international TV and the restaurant was great. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. The local wine was also very nice.

The stay wasn't a disaster, but this really is not a professionally run hote. It is integrated with what seems a popular restaurant and the restaurant seems to be the main business.
I was going to be arriving between 9-10pm so as a precaution I thought I'd let them know by phone ahead of time. They couldn't find my reservation. Eventually they did and assured me someone would be at the desk. Arriving about 9.45pm I walked in to find no one at the desk. Upon ringing the bell, someone came out from the adjacent restaurant. They had their reservations on an old ledger, handwritten. The guy again couldn't find the reservation. He then called another guy from the restaurant who seemed to have more of a clue. It became clear why they couldn't find my reservation both in person and over the phone- my name had been scribbled at the top of the page in a tight space and was barely legible. They then told me where to go to my room, said the door was open and the key inside- the room was in an adjacent building. It was not open it was locked! I knocked on the door next to mine, where there was a phone number, thus indicating the guy in that room was associated with the hotel. He spoke no english but in sign language told me to go down and get the key. Evidently he didn't have it. I went back down to the adjacent building, again found no one in reception, again rang the bell. This time no one came from the restaurant so I went into the restaurant. The guy insisted the key was in the room and the guy I spoke to was "crazy'...his word!. We went up together to find the room locked. I was then left standing there, now at 10.15pm while he went off to find the key. Eventually I got into the room. On checkout when I went to pay, the lady at the desk, probably the 'working hours' receptionist wanted to charge me 7% more...it's only when I showed her my booking confirmation that she said 'ah yes you have the old rate' and charged me the appropriate amount. Like I said not a disaster, but I've rarely had any place where reception didn't have the key!!

We stayed here for one night as part of a European road trip and arrived late (about 9.30pm) after a long and stressful drive. It was incredibly easy to find and the staff could not have been friendlier or more welcoming.
Convenient parking opposite the hotel, staff spoke excellent English, food & wine in the restaurant was fantastic. Rooms were basic but perfectly adequate and no noise at night.

Wish we could have stayed longer.

Most of rooms a faced to street with high traffic load. Every morning there was a heavy truck right under our window. Beds are old and forced down, shower and toilet are slightly broken.

It is located far away from the sea, and there is no direct bus links there -- you need to go to railway station to get a bus (approx. one bus in 20 minutes). Or walk your way to the sea -- it takes at least 30 minutes, half on heavy traffic street and industrial landscapes.

Room service missed our couple of days.

Restaurant is good, prices are average to other restaurants in town.

This is not a resort or a vacation destination but it is a nice, quiet, clean and friendly place to stay. We had been in Trieste and wanted to leave early the next day for Ljubljana. The easiest way to do this is to stay in Koper which is very close to Trieste but across the Slovenian border and on the train line. The hotel is about 500 meters from the train station and was a very quiet place to get a good night's sleep.

I did not expect this. The hotel was a bit outskirt. The decor seems new in the room but there was a serious problem with the bathroom. The bathroom smell was so strong that I did have to hold my breath whenever I walked in. And I was definitely bitten by bedbugs! The aircon in the room is smelly and noisy. We have paid a 4 stars price to stay but we ended up having this 1 star B&B. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody.

Only plus point: staff were friendly.
