This lovely hotel in the rural area of coastal Alentejo has fallen into some disrepair and requires investments in maintenance to regain its 4-star rating. Sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were not working. Cracks in plexiglass verandas etc

Pleasant hotel. Relaxing ambience. Really comfortable room. Great views from the balcony / veranda over the surrounding hotel. Friendly staff. Good pools (indoors & outdoors). We really enjoyed ourselves but the hotel has the potential to be much better if they get the details right e.g. the television was far too small for the size of room; breakfast felt a bit like a 3* B&B rather than a 4* hotel; no info in the room about things like facilities; no room service. That being said, our room had a fantastic bath that looked out over the hills - I could have stayed in it all day!

Overall was ok, place has so much potential but is very badly executed which is such a shame. Some things done very beautifully (design of reception) but then others feel like a cheap hostel. Confusing place! Enjoyed the stay as it was relatively quiet and views are lovely. Whatever you do tho don’t go to the restaurant it is the absolute WORST food! Wish I had read the reviews first, but we arrived late and didn’t want to drive somewhere (there is nothing in walking distance and driving somewhere decent is at least 20 mins away), so we went thinking it would be nice given hotel markets itself as 4star spa - so wrong! Pros: views are beautiful from balcony in room - we had mountain view and I think that was better than the pool view. Could see lake and trees - very peaceful. Bed was comfy and clean. WiFi worked (but limited). And housekeeping seemed good. The outside pool whilst cold is a treat - with beautiful view and sun loungers to use. Pool is decent length to do some actual swimming lengths too. Spent a whole morning here enjoying it with just one other guest around. Imagine if got busier tho the tranquility would quickly go... Cons - air con unit in room bit temperamental. No fridge despite when we booked the room saying it had fridge which we needed. Complained to reception and was told “some rooms did, some didn’t” and could get a fridge tomorrow as hotel was full then and no available fridges. Did finally get a fridge after reminding again the second day. No tea and coffee making facilities which again seemed a bit weird as was definitely a place for them in room. Also no telephone so had to keep going to reception if wanted anything! You had to book the indoor pool area - which we did - only pool was open due to Covid - and even that none the water features worked - it was hot and stuffy in there and felt dirty (although saw them cleaning it the next day and seemed thorough) - we didn’t go back in as wasn’t a nice experience really. Then finally the restaurant - we had dinner there the first night - what a mistake. Trying to ask the server what anything was on the very limited menu was pointless he just told me I should have steak and was like talking to a brick wall - didn’t seem to understand much and I felt sorry for him so ended up going with his suggestion. The bread was rock hard, the fish starters made us gag - we had only one bite and then were worried we’d get sick. The steak was actually ok, cooked rare despite the waiter telling us we would have it medium (didn’t seem to understand any other option) - but luckily we like it rare! The veg with it looked straight out a tin from 10 years ago. The dessert was weird but edible basically the fruit from breakfast or some classic pre-frozen buffet cakes! So sad as €45 that cost us we could have eaten so well elsewhere! Breakfast was included in room rate (thank god) - weird again - were given a plate of scrambled eggs and bacon to share (about 3 mouthfuls each) and some bread and pastries - no encouragement to get more if you wanted it - but it was fine. Think the tea option better than the coffee. I guess you get what you pay for and overall I would stay there again at the rate we paid for room (esp in a quiet time of year) but it is quite remote and if you like eating out then this probably isn’t the best place to stay as it’s miles from anywhere and their own restaurant so terrible. But it’s good if you like driving and want to stay somewhere with a good view and walking in mountains.

We had booked one of the two suites in the hotel for four nights (highest available category). Without any notification we had to find out on our own that the heating-system wasn’t working on the entire floor. In addition, we were offered to have dinner at the hotel witch we made a reservation for. What a mysterious dinner we ever had. Nothing was cooked properly. Fish & prawns were overcooked, soup was totally horrible. So we were already very disappointed within the first few hours and it didn’t become any better. The service was friendly but that all. We asked to speak to the hotel management which was never available and we were told that the manager doesn’t even speak good English. The only thing was good that MASSAGE from INDIAN gentleman. He was simply superb. The hotel is four years old but is seems they have a huge problem with their management and their maintenance. water in several walls at the edge of mildew, rusty chairs on the balcony, brown dirt running down several of the white outside walls, to just mention a few points, are just not what I personally expect from a four-star hotel

I should have read the reviews on here before booking this hotel!!! Extremely poorly managed. This 4 star hotel didn't have any F&B dept. No F&B manager. Frozen breakfast, no bar service, no snack service available in the hotel plus on the top cheap crap dinner with such high price. plus the man(best therapist in the town) who was advertised in hotel promo for massage was available, instead of that a lady was there but without any genuine massage offered. From the moment we arrived, we had problems. This hotel is funded with EU money and will definitely write to the Tourism of Portugal to look into this hotel. Nobody cares here, we won’t be back!!! Such a shame,

Did we pick the right time - I dont know - March / Cov19 .... maybe We got interconnecting rooms - bathroom great, bedroom great, good internet connection - compfy beds - good TV - yes I agree some of the Cork is coming loose. The other stuff which people were complaining before I dont understand (taste is a personal thing isnt it) Its very quiet - the balconys are great and yes our outdoor seats were also rusty (I think that could be managable from the hotel) Breakfast was good - fresh orange juice and freshly baked goodies (like pastel de nato). Because of the lack of people the breakfast selection wasnt huge. Big Minus was the coffee - that was really horrible. Restaurant - we didnt go because we are not used to eat this late - unfortunatly on our travel trough Portugal and Spain nobody is bothered even they dont have a lot of guests in their hotels - unfortunatly thats the way and its a bit unflexible because you could make some money out of it (because most of the time the kitchenstuff was there anyway). Pool looked good.

After reading allod the positive reviews we were perhaps expecting a little more. The hotel must have been really good in its heyday, but is now showing signs of wear. The rooms could do with a makeover, or even just a touch of paint. The cork trim is peeling off, and the bedside tables are the worst I have seen - the top slides off if anything is placed on it! The staff seem disinterested, one stood outside smoking while he watched us unpack our vehicle. We ordered three beers in the bar, and the barman apologized for not having any beer glasses! The main exercise machine in the gym was out of order. The only redeeming factor was the breakfast, a superb spread with real, fresh orange juice. Overall it is priced well, but you get what you pay for.

Positive: The view from the room and the silence you could hear when in the balcony. And the breakfast was also very decent, with a nice view from the restaurant. The room and sheets were very clean. Negative: At the check-in I found the male receptionist not that welcoming. Please check the pictures to visualize my critics here.. In the room, the headboard was made out of cork, but it was all coming off. There were two lamps coming from the ceiling, one of them was full of knots, clearly the wire was bigger than it should be, so they just improvised.. Also on them lamps, at night, once we turned both of them on and the TV the electricity in the room clashed leaving us in the dark.. The glass on the balcony had a massive crack while the chairs were full of rust. In the toilet there were electricity wires coming out, and out of the 4 lamps above the mirror, only 2 were working, and the toilet flush was broken. It's a 4 star hotel, but the amenities were really poor (1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 2 shower gel and 1 soap) plus the "glasses" to wash the mouth were plastic cups... Moving on to the spa, really tiny!! There's only two pool chairs, once we got to 6 people inside the spa we left, as it felt way too crowded. The water temperature in the pool was room temperature, so obviously not warm, and good luck getting the jaccuzi to work with its freezing cold water, that we were told by the receptionist it's only heated in the morning (what a joke) . The sauna was so small, that my boyfriend with his 190cm had to lean over to fit and had to stand because everything was just so small (we didn't even check the steam room). We got some sort of sale at the time, because we checked later and the prices were 100+ for a room - totally not worth it!!

Hotel itself is nice building, however this is one from just a few advantages of this place. So briefly: rooms has thick walls, so it’s nice and quiet (we’ve had the best room, so I do not know, how it is with the rest), there’s plenty space in rooms, large bathrooms, bed was comfortable (however not as big as supposed to be in the best room), rooms were clean. That’s all about good things. Now let’s get to the important part: 1) localisation - for some it may be advantage, however car is absoulte must, and because of strange schedule of hotel restaurant service - the clossest restaurant is about 6km from the hotel. Nearest bar, which is about 2km from the hotel is not the place, where you would like to be when it’s dark outside... Hotel itself is in the quiet area, but it’s not realy nice, the view from the room is ok, but it’s not something you would call atractive. 2) there is absolutely no information about anything in the room! You won’t find information about the restaurant working hours, about breakfast time, about telephone numbers, about gym working hours, etc. NOTHING. No leaflets. Moreover there is no door hangers saying ‚please do not disturb/ please service the room’. First time seen something like this. 3) housekeeping - they realy do not hurry with their job. What I mean - they’ll come to your room whenever it’ll suit them, rather than you. Quality of service was ok, but they’ve done what they’ve had to do, and not a single thing more. For example: we’ve had two glasses of wine from restaurant, and took them to the room. After service these glasses were left in the room... dirty. And during 5 nights of our stay we haven’t had our bedclothes changed even a single time. 4) no slippers, no negligee in the room 5) when we’ve asked for iron and iron board, lady in the reception was surprised, and when we received it... This board definitely needs to be changed for new one - it’s simply broken. 6) breakfasts... these is absolutely pathetic experience. Very poor choice, quite a few for someone who likes sweet breakfast (but not seemed to be homemade, for example french pastries - more looks like supermarket one), just two kinds of charcuterie, but if you want hot... every day the same: poor quality bacon, poor quality scrambled eggs and extremely poor quality sausages (two days there were beans instead of sausages), and everything served in- literally- broken hot dishes. Only filter coffee - and if you wanted espresso or capucino - waiter was doing it without extra charge, but again - very very poor quality. Breakfast staff - that’s another thing - very slow, wish not to use this word, but it’s the only one that suits - lazy, with the face expression like everything they do is a punishment and like they really hate to be there. Once the hot dish is empty (and these were quite small) - you can wait ages for refill (they wait with refilling until it’s literally empty, and it take long to get the fresh food). And one more thing: absolutely NONE vegetables on the breakfast. NONE. Nothing. ZERO. I’ve asked for it, and I’ve just received answer, that they did not provide vegetables. During our stay we were coming for breakfast with our own vegetables bought in the town, and it didn’t bother staff at all, they didn’t think like they suppose to provide something. Just ubelievable! You’ll find better breakfast in 2 and 3 stars hotels! Actually it’s hard to find hotel with such a poor breakfast. 7) staff in reception - they give you wrong information. For example we were asking every day about restaurant working days and hours, and everyday we received different answers! Amazing! They don’t know, how they’re own restaurant works! 8) staff in the restaurant do not realy speaks english... 9) gym... first of all very poor, broken equipment, secondly no towels or water provided, thirdly - even without workout you’ll get sweat there because of the temperature and humidity they keep in there 10) because of no door hangers I’ve called to reception and ask for NO SERVICE on one of the days, as we decided to stay in the room until evening. What was my surprise when suddenly housekeeping got into the room! Unaceptable situation. 11) leaking ceiling on the corridor 12) no concierge, heavy door (I am 90kg 189cm, and it was realy difficult to open or shut the room door) 13) no pool service - no towels, etc After 3 days we’ve said about our concerns to the receptionist. She listened it carefully, and said that she was sorry, and...that’s it! In conclusion, not only I do not recomend this hotel, but I strongly advice to NOT TO GO THERE. This hotel is huge disappoinment - it could be nice place, but it seemed like someone built it and forgot that business needs trained qualified staff and management to run it. Breakfast is a pathetic parody of something that it should be.

As this hotel is in the middle of knowhere and is promoted as Nature & Water you would expect a quiet and serine feeling which you get until you try and sleep. My room which was on the ground floor near reception was nice inside but after 11pm you would expect silence from guests and staff. Well I could not hear any guests but the lady on night duties was walking all over the hotel in hard heels on tiled floors there was piped music playing from ceiling speakers right outside my room. There was doors slamming and if the phone rang it was super loud. If that was not enough there was 2 alarms sounded in the middle of the night. I did ask her to turn off the music and I could hear her heavy loud footsteps. The music was turned off but the rest of the night was a bust. Why cant the staff be told to wear soft shoes and have soft closing doors. And maybe have a flashing strobe light instead of a loud ringing if the phone rings. The whole idea of a peaceful retreat was ruined by inconsiderate staff and procedures. Very dissatisfied.
