Alam Candi was the first place we stayed after arriving in Bali, and I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the rooms and setting were for the price we paid. The rooms are separate villas surrounded by koi ponds and set back off a leafy walkway, and feel very spacious and private. There is therefore next to no noise from neighbouring rooms, and because the property is down a track away from the main road, you also can't hear any traffic noise - just the sound of the sea in the distance! The semi-outdoor bathroom is lovely (I didn't see a single spider or insect in it the whole time - despite my concerns), although it does get a bit hot. The pool and restaurant area is nice too - unfortunately the pool loses the sun after around 3pm (ish) but is fine before then. The loungers down by the sea front also get a lovely breeze. The food we had in the restaurant was great, although we somehow got stung by the price of the seafood BBQ and ended up spending £72 on one lobster and one red snapper... Probably our fault for not doing the maths correctly, but the prices are a bit confusing. It was nice, but definitely not £72 worth of nice! My other issue with the restaurant is over the breakfast menu - it seems to be that if people walk in for breakfast they get a wider menu than those staying at the hotel. The breakfast menu on the front of the full lunch and dinner menu that you choose from later on in the day features things like avocado on toast, which was never available on the printed paper menu given to us at breakfast each day. It seems a bit odd to offer your paying guests less choice than those who walk in off the street, and also means the western options can be quite limited. One morning the granola and fruit option had run out, which only meant one western choice for us, so a bit restrictive. Otherwise a really enjoyable stay - and we both agreed that, in second place after the Viceroy in Ubud, this was our next favourite hotel of the holiday :-)

It would be hard to beat the location, up against a sea wall with local boats moored only metres fron the dining area. We were a little disappointed with the Saturday seafood bbq, and this prompted us to eat most of our meals in local warungs in the nearby alleys. Actually, when you spend $100 on a meal for 2 in Bali, it needs to be pretty good, and this wasn't. You'll get the same quality juices within 100m at less than half the price as well. We were happy to pay inner city Australian prices for our coffees the, they did a good job there.

After 30 hours traveling, we had a very warm welkom at Alam Candi with a fresh self made ice tea. We were guided to our room and (it was dark) we were very much supriced with this beautiful hotel and our villa. The staff was very nice, because normally the kitchen is closing at 10 pm, but they left it open for us, so we could still have a meal. Everybody is very friendly and caring and everything is super clean and perfect. We highly recommand this hotel to anyone who is looking for a very nice stay at Bali. In two words: stunning hotel! This is by far the best en prettiest hotel we ever stayed (and we have seen a lot of hotels)! Thank you Alam Candi for our very nice stay (and especally thank you Putu and the rest of the staff for your big smile every day!)

We had a great 3 night stay here and enjoyed an incredible snorkeling trip using the dive center. Our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful showing us 3 green turtles in one area and taking us to different spots for the coral and sea life. We enjoyed swimming in the Blue Lagoon. The food at the restaurant was also a highlight, all very fresh and delicious. Highly recommend this hotel.
