This small intimate boutique hotel is very well designed. The standard room is of international standard and very comfortable. The developers must have run out of money as there are not enough towel rails in the bathroom for the hand towels and only one hook for a bath towel. Hanging the towels on the balcony rack is not ideal in rainy weather. The pool with kiddie pool and dining area are lovely and there are steps leading down to the ocean for safe swimming. However, we found the dining difficult. Very few vegetarian options, no vegan options. The coffee at breakfast was like dishwater and the beer in the room fridge is cheaper than a beer in the restaurant - most unusual. The coffee and tea tray in the room was not very clean and only offered black tea and nescafe with 2 creamer sachets for 4 portions of tea and coffee. I personally take 2 sachets for one coffee so my friend had none. Which was not a problem as he does not drink black tea or coffee. When we asked for a herb tea we were charged Rupiah 17 000 to take the tea bag to our room. Most hotels and guesthouses we visit in the world offer a choice of herb teas so we found this a big negative. We did love the design, especially the spectacular pool and dining area and the friendly staff.

Modern, clean, friendly and great location. Very friendly, helpful and attentive staff who couldn’t do enough to help us. The Manager - Hendra Puspawan greeted us on arrival and couldn’t do enough to make our short stay pleasant. We mentioned our love of Bubi Guling and went out of his way to purchase some from Denpasar for our lunch a few days later (it was seriously good!). They also arranged Scooters for us and gave us suggestions on where to visit - Virgin Beach a must! Rooms big and shower fantastic! Would definitely come back. Thankyou everyone at Sagara.

A warm welcome received at this hotel, it's located on a busy street with local shops, supermarkets, bars, and restaurants.
It is a small boutique hotel comprising of 20 rooms on 2 floors. Beautiful decor. We had the rooms on the upper floor, which came with an outside seating area overlooking green lush trees/palms. Clean, with toiletries in your room. 2 bottles of complimentary water. Sadly, there is no water refill machine. Hope the hotel thinks about how they can minimise the use/purchase of plastic. Local supermarket to purchase large bottles of water. Fridge available in your room.
Facilities: restaurant, bar and infinity pool, sunbeds.
Food: Good if you don't want to go out, though lots of restaurants are on your doorstep. This hotel does not offer buffet but selected items off the menu. This is great to manage food waste - great job! Good choice of local and western food. Breakfast is excellent - freshly prepared to each order. Lovely freshly prepared juices. The strawberry pancakes and maple syrup are worth a try, lovely and soft, and freshly prepared. Daily cocktail hour, two for one, allows you to make your way the array of cocktail choices!!
Staff: Couldn't do enough. Thank you for taking the time to decorate the bedroom for my partners birthday ( no prompts needed). What a lovely surprise 😊 Restaurant and bar staff were very attentive.

Air con didn't work properly, Fridge didn't keep anything cold, room smelt really bad, sheets were stained. This was an upgrade to a Premier room with private balcony. There is no privacy as everyone has to walk past to get to the rooms and restaurant. Afternoon tea consisted of half a sandwich, half a small apple pie and a pancake. Cant get Bintang Beer yet is is in our room fridge which didn't work. Wanted an earl grey tea but only serve black tea for afternoon tea, but it is available any other time. Pool is tiny, Yes there is a sea view but that's all you get, there is a 2 meter drop into the sea with no beach in the area at all. Arrived at 3pm, couldn't stay so left at 7.30am. They weren't prepared to help at all. For what they charge, there are a lot nicer places to stay in the area for the same money or less.

The hotel itself was not bad but the breakfast which was included was very poor. The choice on the menu was very restrictive and if you wanted something different you had to pay extra even though breakfast was included. Also the hot food was brought out at the same time as the cereal so was cold by the time we ate it

Stayed 3 nights in ground floor Premier Room. Lovely large room with all the facilities you would expect, including tea making facilities and separate bath and shower. Taking breakfast overlooking the sea was a delight each morning. We ate twice in the restaurant, and I would highly recommend the beef rendang. Outside of the hotel and all within easy walking distance are the usual selection of gift shops, restaurants, money exchangers and a large supermarket. At low tide you can descend stairs to the shoreline and walk, either left or right, and negotiate with local boat owners for snorkelling trips to the Blue Lagoon and/or out to the nearby three islands. We opted for a ground floor room but the views from the upper floor rooms are better. If I was picky, I would say the lack of English-speaking channels on the TV was disappointing. We would definitely stay again.

Location wise, it is at the central of Candidasa area. The hotel is not as big as the picture shown. It's small and quaint, yet lovely.
The room was decent, clean, and surprisingly large. Although, if I may add suggestions: - There was only 1 power outlet on each bedside and it is used for the lamp. Considering people charge their phone at night, it would be good to add another one. - Lighting switch should be rearranged so guests doesn't need to get out of the bed when they're about to sleep to turn of the lights.
It terms of staff services, it was sufficient but I believe it can be improved. Friendly but the action seemed a bit awkward. I am a firm believer that many guests return to a hotel where they stay if the staffs have impeccable sense of service.
Since there are not many restaurants (proper one) around Candidasa, Flamingo Restaurant has the chance to score in this area. I ate dinner and breakfast, the menu was okay but not outstanding. Plus the price was a bit high if I compare other hotel. Of course, it is not my prerogative to comment about this area, but please do consider your price point on your restaurant and mini bar.
Would I stay at Sagara Candidasa again? Yes. It deserves a second chance as there aren't many proper hotel around Candidasa area.
Oh did I mention, the pool was beautiful despite small? :)
Kindly note there this hotel stands on seaside with no beach access. There was a stair where you can use it to swim in the sea. But, don't expect sandy beach.

They didn’t take out the dishes, we had an empty bottle of wine, glasses and used coffee mugs that never got taken out from our first day, which is why the cleaning got a 3 out of 5.
Want to highlight that the breakfast was great, where you could order from a set menu.

Wonderful hotel with wonderful and nice people working there. Pool has an amazing view over the Sea. We stayed for two nights in this beautiful spot. Hi yes Candidasa really just has one main road that runs through it . Plenty of great restaurants within walking distance and there was a warung right across the road . There is access to the beach in front of the hotel and we did swim in it but it is quite shallow and lots of sharp coral rather than beach sand . We found the best swimming at White sand beach , amazing ! Just a short drive from Candidasa and the scenery is beautiful. Lots of warungs and sun lounges on the beach . Enjoy
