We were here for a week, the staff was great. The rooms older and cold. We had trouble with the hot water while we were there but the staff helped as best they could. If was fixed in a few hours. The food at the restaurant was amazing!! Best Malva Pudding Ever!!

Very nice stay, centrally located and close to main roads. Walking distance to convenience store, clothing and restaurants. Spacious rooms with all the required luxury - missed a fridge though. Stunning views of the mountains and decor inside gives a homely feeling

Was here in midwinter with participants in a training course - place otherwise deserted. The rooms are adequate with kettle, flat screen TV and an internet cable you have to ask for. the heater works which is nice in winter but the restaurant is cold. There is a giant hearth that should be filled with a roaring fire in the... More

This place reminds me of an 80's hotel, gone wrong. The depressing atmosphere and lack of attention to detail simply brings it down to two stars. Much better value to be found at guest houses in the town itself.

I would guess there are few places in Stellenbosch that hold a lower standard. This is not to say that Stellenbosch Lodge is dingy. But it's like a boring motel outside a boring city in Central Europe. And that's not quite what you want in Stellenbosch. But then again, sometimes everything else is booked and then this place works. I... More

The upside has to be the great, friendly service from the bar and restaurant staff - they truly go the extra mile. The downside: very average, dated accommodation and maintenance/cleaning that's not up to standard. The hotel can be recommended for a reasonable priced stay-over on a main route, but it's hardly anything close to the best Stellenbosch has on... More

Again Mercury changed our hotel from that advertised and acknowledged. This time, however, they fouled up. Describing it as a gem (!), it was barely adequate. Bedroom was fine; reasonably appointed and comfortable. We were to have included for one evening, a barbecue. So called lamb was more like camel, or what I imagine camel to be like. Little other... After reading several negative comments, we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed here as part of a cycling group, Tour the Boland. Reception was friendly, the rooms are clean with air conditioning. Lovely breakfast. The best experience was a message that we left our Ipad behind and that housekeeping had found it. What a relief and a big thank you to... More

In spite of being on a big and busy road this hotel does offer a quiet night's sleep. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was large and tasty. The air-conditioner was not 100% effective. There was no milk for the morning tea (or coffee) Over all we did enjoy our stay

The check-in process was quick and easy. I was not offered assistance with my luggage and had to carry it up 2 flights of stairs to my room. Overall, the room was neat and clean, but could certainly do with a revamp and perhaps some more modern features. Breakfast was very average, although I often arrived to find the hot... More
