It was my birthday so it was worth the splurge. The villas are perfection. Every amenity is beautiful and the design is perfect. And a private pool with a view of the mountain was incredible. Only wish we had stayed longer!!!
Beautiful hotel, the setting is amazing and the bungalows are like little houses, you have a private pool, a kitchen, living room, bar all beautiful. The pool is beautiful and all the facilities are perfectly maintained. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because of the food at the restaurants and the slow service. One night are meal took over two hours. At breakfast the eggs take a long time as well. In the main restaurant Delaire the lamb was over cooked and dry. The indochine restaurant was better but they took two hours to serve the meal, it was too long. Overall great stay but the food and serving time needs improvement.
We stayed here for one night on 31st January. We were in Lodge 14. The check in process, was brilliant. They were able to rearrange things we’d booked as we had only just flown in from the UK and we’re exhausted. The lodge itself was stunning, the views, the quality of the accommodation and the pool area. Fully stocked free minibar with soft drinks, beer and water (including milk, for those that like a cup of tea in the mornings). Also brandy, scotch, vodka and gin available. We did a wine tasting and had a tour of the estate, which was good fun and really interesting. Stunning location too.
Experienced tarvelers all over the world .. ( for a job) first off the staff who welcomed us was excellent we then booked in for wine tasting told no space wait for 30 mins okay ! We went to view lodges and private spas so have money to spend it’s expensive! When come back say in dark not nice corner, obviously you visit for the outstanding views and excellence we definitely didn’t get that, My wine rating experience was one glass in 45 mins forgotten about although asking 3 times for wine. The only time this experience improved is when we left I spoke to lovely Dillion about our not so great experience he was very genuinely upset and done all he could to turn this around we went to wash rooms and befor e we left he and the manger found us and gave us a bottle of wine to say sorry and asked us to come back, it was so nice to see they genuinely cared about repeat and return business,,,, I am a customer service manager and was exceptionally pleased with how they Re covered our poor experience.. thank you we will return 😊. Dillion you made the difference …
We wanted to make a u-turn and ended up on this estate! We were blown away by the beautiful surroundings. We ended up having a strawberry milkshake and a glass of Rose wine. What a wonderful experience.
We visited Delaire Graff for 2 nights in 2019 and after a few COVID disruptions were finally able to make it here for a longer stay in Dec 2022. So many of our favorite hotels pre-COVID have become shells of their former selves (amangiri, singita boulders, four seasons surfside) so it was extremely refreshing to find that since 2019 Delaire Graff has gotten even better! From the get go, Natasha and her team at the front desk were so helpful and so welcoming. They could not have taken better care of us. Special thanks to her and team of Mikaela (sic?), Danika, and Cindy. Every request was handled promptly and they were so thoughtful and proactive with so much of our scheduling. Housekeeping was the highest standard and done multiple times per day and almost immediately after you left the room. The lodge is by no means old, and yet I can tell they've done so many renovations to keep it in mint condition. The owner clearly is sparing no expense and continues to invest in his hard product. The landscaping alone must cost a fortune, but it is truly a marvel for all of your senses (the sights and smells are like paradise). Walking through the vineyards was a daily joy. Back to the rooms: there are some lodges which were built in 2018 which are definitely an upgrade over the originals, and I understand the originals will undergo a renovation early next year. What a contrast from Singita Boulders where it's been a decade since they've touched their hard product, and would never dream of investing the amount Delaire does: Dornbracht fixtures in the bathroom, japanese toilets, automatic pool covers, beautiful hard wood floors. Bravo dear Delaire team, believe me that your attention to detail and quality has not gone unnoticed. We are very much looking forward to seeing the results of the renovation next year during our next visit. The staff in Indochine (the breakfast and all-day restaurant) are all treasures. Super friendly, and the breakfast dishes are delicious, and trust me when I say that we are not easy to please when it comes to food. Nyasha, Nick, Francois are all so helpful and I love their attitude. It reminds me of how Amangiri used to be, 'no request is too large' and the default answer is always 'yes'. Want something off the lunch menu to be served at dinner? Of course. Want something delivered after hours for room service? Not a problem. Even the best hotels in the world will rarely maintain that standard any more so thank you Delaire for keeping it up. Every time we've come to South Africa, we've added additional nights at Delaire. So much so that the next time we go, we plan to only stay at Delaire. The owner is clearly investing a great deal in the hard product but I hope that they also continue to do so in their soft product, as it is the great team and culture which take Delaire to that next level and separate it from everyone else in the pack. I would give it 6* if I could. Thank you!…
To say this place is IMPRESSIVE would be an understatement! Even the drive to the main entrance is gorgeous. Once inside, we were awed by the beautiful art and loved the wines we tasted. It would be a dream to be able to stay on the estate as a guest - but we were happy to visit for a tasting. Would recommend and would return!
We chose to stay at the Delaire Graff during our trip to South African wine country while we were on our honeymoon. The property is stunning - as Americans who have only been to Napa, this was far more lush and beautiful than that. We had a lovely post-wining tasting meal and stayed in what honestly was one of the most beautiful hotel rooms we had ever stayed in. We planned for a relaxing afternoon and evening at one of the property restaurants, Indochine. We came back from that dinner only to find that $250 was stolen from my wife's purse (probably should have put it in the safe, but saying that we shouldn't trust housekeeping at a 5-star resort unless our valuables are locked away is quite concerning). They hotel refused to consider the notion that their staff may have taken our cash and ultimately said they would conduct a polygraph test but there wasn't anything else they could do. A simple solution would have been to take the $250 off our hotel bill. Unfortunately, my wife woke up in the middle of the night with a horrible bout of food poisoning - she was throwing up for several hours and her illness forced us to push our travels back by one day (she couldn't travel to the airport and one two flights with her nausea while constantly throwing up). The staff was very responsive and accommodating in allowing us to stay another evening (at half the advertised rate). Again, a simple solution would have been to comp our meal - but again, that as something the hotel simple refused to do. While the property was stunning, the staff's responsiveness was more than outweighed by their arrogance and refusal to put the customer first. I would not recommend staying a night at the estate but rather going for a wine tour and lunch.…
Our tour guide suggested to stop here for lunch prior to going to our stay at Cotte Farm. It was positively wonderful. The views of the winefields and surrounding grounds were phenomenal. The food was fabulous and the wait staff were top notch.
I was fortunate enough to enjoy lunch at Delaire Graff on Saturday 10 September 2022. The lunch was in celebration of my parents' 50th wedding anniversary and my brother-in-laws 50th birthday. From arrival to departure, the service, attention, ambience and food was spectacular. From the hand-written birthday and anniversary cards signed by each staff member on arrival, to the ever present, but never in your space waiting staff, the afternoon was incredible - never mind the food, which my dad voted the best he's ever had! Thank you Delaire Graff.
