I’ve always visited Delaire estate on our trips to South Africa for lunch . This time we decided to spend 2 nights staying at the lodge . The accommodations and wonderful amenities provided were out of this world . From the aromatic hand sanitiser, room fragrance , beverages, teas and snack it was superb. Treatments at the spa made us feeling e royalty . Our breakfast with the stunning view and all the gluten-free toast were a nice way to make the upsetting experience the previous night at Indochine ( the restaurant) What a pity the staff at Indochine were so unprofessional and badly trained. South Africa has so many wonderful first class eateries . It was so upsetting to get such a dreadful experience in such an upmarket venue .
Had the pleasure of a wine tasting here on a sunny day. The views are of the chart amazing and the service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The building has amazing architecture and art peppered throughout. A real gem.
My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We had a room upgrade on our arrival and we were allowed to have an early check in. The grounds of this hotel are to die for, the rooms are exceeding all your expectations, the restaurants, the wine tasting (which was included free of charge during our staying) are simply the best. The staff is always there to help you and fulfill all your wishes. If you are planning to stay in Stellenbosch, this is your place! Or at least come for a wine tasting. This is how ,y love with Delaire Graff started and eventually I ended up staying in this hotel during this visit, I came for wine tasting during my trip in 2019 and I knew, that I will be back to stay with them. And I know for sure, I will be back!! Thank you for an amazing experience!…
Our waiter, Immanuel started off ok, forgot my husband beer, took away my wine glass when our bottle of wine was not even half. Conveniently forgot to come back to us for our dessert order instead fawning over other people. Then to top it off, he goes around giving everyone sweets from the chef as a thank you, even before their bills were settled. I asked him why we were not given sweets, he said he forgot because he had been so busy. Oh my word, really? Iam I the wrong colour to be dining at this place? Surely money has the same colour and we didn't come for charity but as a treat as the previous occasions we were hosted much better. Such a sour end to our day. I wish people will get treated the same whenever they go, we weren't even greeted on our way out. Such a disappointment. Customer service definitely not one of their strong points!…
This hotel is excellent. Super friendly staff, in super good shape, beautiful and clean rooms. The only bad thing (and easy to solve) was a the food. Its really below standards in our opinion; they are trying to fuse Asian with French; but even the "unagi" sause is actually a miso dressing. And simple stings like a pasta is overcooked and very sour. We basically skipped breakfast almost every day in our 4 nights stay because it was really bad. Hopefully the hotel will do something about this.
We stayed two nights here in a luxury lodge and had been really looking forward to it. It was, however, a massive disappointment. The lodge itself was very tired. There were chips out of the wood and stains on the pale leather furniture. Not frankly what you expect at this sort of property. The kitchen looked like something straight out of a cheap serviced apartment. There was also no way you could charge your phone by the bed which is a problem I haven’t encountered for years as most hotels ensure this is possible. Above all, it wasn’t actually clean when we came in. There were crumbs all over the TV unit which is a bit concerning in the COVID era - I thought everything was supposed to be sanitised. Clearly not. Be a bit careful putting your laundry down - my partner’s t shirt was totally ruined. They did kindly go and get a new one - just a shame it was a different colour and one that he would never wear so essentially we lost a t shirt. The meal at Indochine was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in years. The food was at best unmemorable and at worst bland. The real issue was the wait time - we had to wait over 2 hours for our main course and by the time it came we didn’t really enjoy it as it was so late. When we complained we were told the restaurant was unexpectedly busy but frankly it wasn’t even half full so not sure what happened. We weren’t offered any gesture despite the fact they acknowledged the wait time wasn’t acceptable. Very surprising and disappointing. The saving grace was the views. The walks around the property were stunning and the views from them amazing. The main pool area was also gorgeous (service again was completely lacking - didn’t see anyone 2 out of the 3 times we were there). All in all save your money and go elsewhere. We stayed at two far better properties in the winelands and would not return here.…
We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The moment we arrived someone offered to give us a tour of the property. I think he was called Nic. It was his first day as an ambassador. He showed us the impressive art collection and the beautiful grounds. We then had a lovely tasting and lunch. Five stars!
The Icon; wine tasting at it´s best! We decided to add some famos cheese and olives. Includes the spectacular scenery. I always enjoy this upscale Estate, it´s luxurious ambiance, great service. The restaurant is posh and shall be tried out soon.
Out of this world experience! The biggest room I’ve ever had at 5 star establishment with a warm pool and a spectacular view. Staff went above and beyond. Food was a new experience and delicious. Big hotel close to Stellenbosch and Franschoek. Will be back for sure.
If you're looking for the perfect experience in South Africa and especially Stellenbosch, look no further. This is it. We've stayed there for more than two weeks, and there wasn't a single problem. The service: awesome, super-personal, friendly and charming staff. The villas: Absolutely great. It's like your own small apartment, they have a small kitchenette with free minibar including wine, sweets, etc. - even the room service breakfast is included. You have a wide comfy bed, a spacious living room and your own personal heated pool with a view to the vineyards. Can't get any better. The SPA: Perfect treatment, lovely couple massage, great personal sauna experience. The restuarants: Perfect as well. Awesome food, knowledgable sommeliers, great architecture and view. (Little suggestion: If you stay longer, have maybe a daily rotating special - but that might have been left out due to COVID). Other things to do: The wine cellar tour is very personal and informative, the wine tasting is great (definitely buy some bottles of Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc Costal Cuvee). I can't overstate the service, they even let us stay in one of their biggest villa on departure day and use the pool so we didn't need to rush. The perfect ending for a perfect holiday. So if you're looking for the most relaxing escape ever from all the hectic and just enjoy a great time in the sun with the most perfect service (not just service: super-friendly people), great food and a perfect accomodation. It's maybe one of the most perfect places in the world. Definitely go there if you can and stay as long as you can.…
