We were looking for a special treat and thought this might be it. We were disappointed. We paid a daily rate of R1,100-00 per room, but this price does not justify the poor quality. The room was nice and clean and comfortable, but the en suite bathroom was shocking. It wasn't a proper shower - it was a hand-held shower that was propped up on a stand to convert it into a proper shower, but the shower head kept on slipping down so you effectively couldn't have a proper shower. The water pressure was non-existent, and you had to wait at least 10 minutes for hot water! In addition, there were no spare plug points in the bedroom for charging smartphones or tablets or other electronic devices, and the dressing table also didn't have an electric plug nearby which meant it was impossible to use a hair dryer or other hair styling equipment at the dressing table. Overall, it's the little things that gave it away - the information brochure presented on arrival was a badly crumpled, coffee-stained photocopy containing old information; no butter at breakfast (only cheap margarine) and no tea at breakfast (only gross, weak, cheap filter coffee). At R1,100-00 per room per night (and we stayed for 6 nights) I really expected MUCH better. The bar in the photographs is a lie - there is a bar but it is hardly ever manned.…
I have only dealt with a Kobus and Luche telephonically from the Paarl Boutique Hotel and through the appalling service received, i never want to go there ever! I paid a deposit on the 1st of March for our trip which will be on the 29 April - 3 May and due to work commitments I have unfortunately had to cancel the trip and have thus requested the deposit to be refunded to me on the 9th of March and since then, Im being referred to this elusive manager Dawie who doesn't even have the decency to email me back or call to let me know if there is a problem with my request. Kobus and Luche on the other hand keep on assuring me that my money will be refunded in full, however, a week later nothing! I was given Kobus`s number but his cell 082 782 7590, rings and goes unanswered. If anyone is need of terrible service and being given the run around, please go to the Paarl Boutique Hotel!…
We spent a night in the Garden suite room which was clean & comfortable. Arrive in the bfast room. NO clean tables or even set. All tables dirty & used. Not a staff member insight to help. We took odd utensils left on the dirty tables to create our own "set" table. Eventually we had to walk upstairs into the kitchen to call for help. A lady came to tell us what we can order but she was totally inappropriately dressed to work with food or guests. Eventually the manageress on duty arrived & we kindly commented on the lack of a clean set table & assistance. She told us that other guests ate earlier but no apology for not re-setting one table for us plus it was still one hour before bfast ends. The previous night the owner told us that we cannot miss their very special bfast, it is a must! Well, it was overcooked, dry bacon, oily fried eggs and slices of raw tomato & cucumber. No freshly baked items, just bread from the shop. The view we got from the area where the food was prepared and the ladies.... made me lost my appetite completely. NEVER again --- very very poorly trained staff!!!…
The hotel was built by a German many years ago. It was called Berghof ............ The place is under new ownership which seems to struggle to get things right. The rooms are big and comfortable, however the en-suite bathroom is totally outdated! Currently you only watch local TV channels, which is a bummer if you are a business traveler. The towels are so hard that you can use them to massage your skin. Breakfast was up to standard. The check-out procedure was rather lengthy, it took forever to print an invoice and it was suggested to the owner to invest in a new computer system. The price for a standard room was totally over the top. R720 for one night including breakfast. Seems they want to recover their investment in a hurry. Good B&B's in Paarl go for about R200 (+/-) and there is nothing special to the hotel that would justify this price.…
Not a hotel. Just a dodgy room. It's an ugly building that smells of smoke and the furniture is terrible and lights don't work and bathroom was an 80s pink disaster and I could go on but it's not worth it
I only stayed at this hotel for one night on a business trip, and when I got there I was quite impressed. It is located on top of a hill so once you find it, it has a stunning view. The room I stayed in (#18) was pretty big, with a lounge area and separate bedroom. After hearing a colleague complain about the place, I started noticing room for improvement. The bathroom is quite old, which is not a problem if everything is in a good condition, but the tub-shower-combo is a problem. As with most of them, 90% of the water ends up on the floor after taking a shower. The lounge area is nice, but this means that there is no TV inside the bedroom, which is nice for business trips. There were nothing in the mini bar, not even a still water in the room. When we went to the bar, they didn't have any water available, which explains the lack of water in the rooms. They were very low in alcoholic beverages as well, which is disappointing as they are centrally located and could have easily stocked up. It is really not bad, clean, comfortable rooms and quite good service, but I think they have the potential to be great. Not a cozy, romantic boutique hotel at all.…
We booked in Nov 2014 for one night stay over after a show. Show was cancelled and in January 2015 the Hotel promised to pay back our deposit because the booking was only for April. Several emails and phonecalls later haven't received our money. The manager is NEVER at work? Either they dont care about customers or they are just not reliable people! I will never go there or refer somebody!!! NEVER NEVER
My husband booked at the Boutique hotel for my birthday as a treat! Before our arrival he tried to arrange something special for the room (example chocolates, champagne, candles, flowers etc...) however there was no assistance with that. They just told him they could not do it / help him. When making the booking he asked the hotel for a luxury suite as this is what was advertised on the Groupon voucher / website. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted in a very friendly manner however when we got to our room it was not the same room that was on the website. The room was clean but very dated. We experienced the following problems with our stay: 1) there was a lamp on a table in the corner of the TV room but there was now electrical plug near by for the lamp to be plugged in. So the lamp just stood there with its cord not plugged in or near a plug (useless lighting) we had to move the lamp and plug it in under the TV and let it stand on the floor in order to get light in the TV room. 2) The bathroom was really really outdated. Clean but very old. The shower curtain is not practical and the shower in the bath did not work well as the shower head was in the middle of the tub so you had to stand on you side and twist in order to shower. Needless to say most of the water went on the floor outside the tub. Also the shower head was not fixed and kept on sliding down the steel pipe so one could not shower properly. The basin's plug kept on going in and this blocks all the water from going out when brushing your teeth or washing your hands etc. The tiles were also cracked in the bathroom and the bathroom door doesn't close easily. 3)The towels were really old and worn out. 1 of them had a loose few threads. They were very hard and not soft and comfortable to use and of a poor quality. They were at least clean. 4) We were only told about the Wi-Fi and that it was free the next morning when we asked about it. Shouldn't there be a sign stating this or when we checked in we be informed about of this. 5) There was a folder in the room with very old pamflets about the hotel and area. It was just papers thrown together in a cardboard box and jot well presented. 6) When I leaned against the couch in the TV room the whole armrest started to wobble and was actually loose / broken. 7) very frustrating was that the room key had 3 keys on it and all 3 looked exactly the same. So every time we needed to lock and unlock our door we had to try 3 keys in order to see which one works. 8) The breakfast room was pretty but lacked atmosphere. It was silent, no music in the background-you could hear a pin being dropped and felt to self conscious to speak. The breakfast options were also quite limited and you just did not feel welcomed in the breakfast room. The presentation of the food was not good at all - no parsley around the plate AND the plate was cold that we received for our hot breakfast. 9) once entering the lobby there was a faint smell of cigarettes and old furniture. 10) very poor signage from the road-there is no boards / signs to indicate that there is a hotel up the road. The views of the hotel are amazing and the location great but the property needs to be modernised and they also need to put more thought into what the guest would want and need for a Boutique Hotel. You cannot be a Boutique Hotel and not have some of the modern elements and service a boutique hotel is known for. …
I booked a night stay at Paarl Boutique Hotel on the 19th, was supposed to check in at about 11 pm as I was flying in from Johannesburg. I arrived at the hotel after 11:40pm, the place was locked and there were cars parked outside. We knocked and phoned until we gave up. We called the cell number provided in the website and it was picked up after numerous attempts. We told the person that we were booked in the hotel for the night but we were unable to get in, the phone got cut off because of poor network connection. We called again but the gentleman didn't bother picking up his phone until we had to look around for alternative accommodation after 12am in an unfamiliar province/town! How do you explain this kind of service? This is not the kind of service you'd expect from a hotel. One of the reasons I didn't book a guest house was because I needed to have 24-hour access into the place. In as much as I do not want to link this to racism, I cannot help but wonder if this was to be handled the same way if I was a different race.…
No opening windows in the main bedroom No air conditioner in main bedroom Water trickles from shower Towels were like cardboard Bathroom dated. We were meant to stay for 2 nights and we checked out after 1.
