We have stayed here on 4 other occasions , but not for a while, we were so disappointed in the room we were first shown to, a 2 storey suite, in need of an upgrade . We changed to a terrace room, recently refurbished it was lovely a complete contrast, we did have to pay another 750R a night, but worth it. We has issues with the shower , it was not draining and flooded the bathroom every morning, it was reported to maintenance but it was not resolved , it stop it overloading the drains we ended up putting the shower on lower pressure which it did help. During our last stay there was a gym which has now gone, but there are still signs up for the fitness centre which apparently went during Covid.. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and one evening meal, the food was good a high standard. Staff were always happy to help with a smile

When traveling in the Winelands the eyes are spoilt for choice, the mountains, the vineyards, the architecture and so much more. as you drive up Plantasie street you think this cannot be leading to an expansive vineyard as it is a street of beautiful homes and then you turn into Grande Roche and a vineyard opens up in front of you. This property has it all in abundance however it’s has a special ingredient …the staff. You will most definitely be treated to the full five star experience accommodation, food and service delivered by staff who want you to love the property and experience it not just as a hotel but as an indulgence that you will not want to leave. Thank you in particular to Survardia and the restaurant team who not only served us delicious food but also recommended places to visit. In a place where hospitality is delivered to an excellent standard Grande Roche gives even more.

The restaurant and hotel has a high quality old school elegance, matched by the service. Part of a 70th Birthday celebration which the restaurant kindly recognised. Stunning views. The food was delightful with excellent service. Well worth trek from Gordons Bay

Very beautiful place with extraordinery friendly staff and really good service. There is a great bar for Cocktails and drinks and 2 pools outside. Paarl is a great place to stay and explore wine yards and the Paarl Monument, Paarl Mountain and the botanical garden there is really exciting!

We have had fabulous meals at this beautiful venue many times. Today, on an anniversary dinner, we were sadly disappointed. The dinner menu looked promising, however - the mussel dish was more of a potato dish with an overly rich pasty cream (tasted like fish paste) , - the tuna looked like a grey boiled meat, - the pork belly, while tasty and tender, had soggy skin with overly salty nori jam glaze topping, and we could not finish the dish, - the salmon dish was good but the accompanying naartjie chutney was bitter and overpowered the salmon. On the positive, good service and good wine. But this is our last visit here, a R2000 meal was extremely disappointing.

This is the first time in my life that I have ever checked out of a hotel and not been able to stay the night. I left about 2 hours after arrival. The smell of the damp and musty thatch roof was overwhelming and I felt that the room was uninhabitable. They did not have another room for me and cited “my issue with the thatch” but I see on booking.com that many people have said similar (perhaps some of the rooms are in bad need of a roof replacement??). It was also freezing in the room. The front desk told me the thatch smells “worse” in winter. They offered for housekeeping to come and do something about the smell (?) - which was not plausible. The sound of the generator in the room was also loud like sitting at the back of an aeroplane. I quite seriously considered sleeping in my car as it was already evening, but I left and checked in at a different establishment.

I stayed here for 4 nights for a team retreat and was blown away by the beautiful rooms, delicious meals, stunning winery and mountain scenery, and amazing staff and service. We came in the middle of winter and found the hotel warm and cozy. There's not enough space to say all the great things, so just some personal favorites - a suite room looking out to the grape vines and Paarl mountains, endless chocolate chip cookies and amazing tea/coffee selection, relaxing bubble baths, and unforgettable meals and desserts from the restaurant staff!

This is a beautiful peaceful hotel nestled in stunning landscape in a picturesque town. We were so warmly welcomed and an upgrade to our suite was an absolutely unexpected surprise . Our suit was so luxurious , spacious and totally comfortable. One of the best showers I have ever had in a hotel! Tea coffee biscuit Facilities and even a generous welcoming bottle of local wine was such a lovely touch. The restaurant was exceptional. The menu and food comprehensive with impeccable service and the breakfast was outstanding. All in all a wonderful comfortable welcoming stay. Highly recommended!

We attended a stylish and fun evening at a Wine & Food Tasting event (one of a few the hotel is currently presenting). The wines were presented by the awarded wine maker, Charles Hopkins who shared interesting information on wine-making process along with some humor and stories. The innovative 4 courses were introduced by the Executive Chef, Kevin Grobler, and we scored each dish 10/10. The venue was 5-star, as was the service by the friendly staff. The view of the sun setting over the Drakenstein Mountains was priceless! Would love this venue to expand its facilities to include a bistro style restaurant which could be frequented more often by local residents. The fine dining restaurant offers one a great experience for special events and is priced at international level.
