I had the opportunity to stay at Grande Roche, in a Terrace Suite. Grande Roche is understated elegance; from the rooms which I absolutely loved, to the beautiful cultivated gardens and vineyard, to the restaurant which by the way, serves up very fine dishes. There is such a sense of relaxation and peace whether you are sitting on the veranda or wondering through the property. The views are stunning. The staff are absolutely amazing; very professional, helpful and friendly. This is definitely a place that begs for a return visit and it's best to opt for 2 or 3 nights; more if you can.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay over at this hotel, it was a PCO visit and the venue also has a brand new conference/event venue which is top class for various kinds of events, the hotel grounds are well kept and the rooms are great, set in between the vines, with loads of guinea fowl to be seen. totally recommend this venue for a getaway weekend and more.
We first stayed at the Grande Roche a few years ago and always promised ourselves that we would return one day. We are so glad we started our latest trip with a few days of luxury in this truly spectacular setting. Stunning rooms, fabulous grounds, friendly staff make this hotel extra special and worth every penny. The welcome gift and nightly turn down service goodies were a lovely touch. We were upgraded to a suite and felt very lucky to be able to sit on the terrace and watch the sun set at the end of the day surrounded by the scent of frangipani.
In late January 2022 My wife and I were able to visit Grande Roche with our two children and their spouses. In all my life I have never experienced such a grand time! The food was spectacular (I have an eating disorder and they were able to prepare a great meal for me every day). Our rooms were beautiful and well serviced each of the five days we stayed. The whole family is excited to return as soon as possible! The views from and of the hotel are beautiful, really enjoyed breakfast on the front deck. Service throughout our stay could not have been better. Thank You Grande Roche.
After nearly a month in South Africa, we wanted to end our holiday somewhere very special, so for our final weekend in mid- January, we booked into the Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl. Stepping inside, we immediately felt the magic and graciousness of a bygone era which gives the hotel its unique and relaxing ambience. We were warmly welcomed by the Reception staff who were so polite and caring. They presented us both with Charlotte Rhys luxury sanitisers to use while they quietly organised our cases to be taken to our room. Our experience in the restaurant was simply mind blowing – I don’t say this often, but it’s one of the best restaurants I’ve ever experienced. The Chef elevated the entire experience. He and his team planned a multi-sensory dinner that took us from the restaurant to the pool and back to the kitchen. The DIY Starter idea inspired me greatly. The ingredients had to be mixed by hand: mushroom mouse plus various types of cheese on the table plus herbs. Our goal was to come up with a one-of-a-kind dish. We both left The Grand Roche with a slightly heavy heart as we had thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our time in this gorgeous hotel. We wished we had stayed longer, but as we caught a final glimpse of it in the car mirror, we both laughed and pledged ‘we’ll be back’!…
What an amazing place. From the minute we arrived we were transported into a different world. The sheer opulence of the property blew us away. The weekend spent there felt like a week as we got to know the friendly and amazing staff. From Chef Kevin and his wife, to their service staff, we were treated like royalty. Now onto the food! We probably sampled almost everything off the menu and each dish was prepared with so much passion you could taste it flowing through the food. To say our tastebuds were tantalized is an understatement. On Sunday we had the four course Sunday Menu and our family joined us. Even though apprehensive at first to try some of the food items on the menu, our family were amazed at the quality, presentation and flavours of each dish. We would like to thank The Grande Roche Hotel for their wonderful hospitality and hope that we can experience another weekend away at this diamond in Paarl. The reputation of Grande Roche means that a high standard is expected, and it did not disappoint. Warmth and luxury abound, and the staff were professional and courteous too. Bonuses included excellent free wifi, one of the best showers we have encountered, and underfloor heating in the bathroom was a delight. The evening meal was lipsmackingly good, and if I really had to search for a niggle it would be that providing paper table napkins rather than linen is a bit out of place in an upmarket establishment.
The hotel and attanetion to detail was amazing - just a pity the restaurant and the food did not live up to this standard - disappointing - wauitress was excellent friendly and knowledgabel but the food burhger not great
From start to finish staying at The Grand Roche Hotel is a treat for the senses. The staff are exceptional. The location is exceptional. The food is exceptional. Ranks as one of my favourites worldwide!
