Beautiful hotel. Great location, close to the main road but far enough not to have all the noise. Great view from the restaurant terrace. Very friendly and helpful staff. Gardens are beautiful and well maintained. Apparently new ownership since a couple of months.
Lovely setting overlooking the valley . Nice bedrooms and bathrooms and good restaurant . Gym and pool and pretty gardens and lodges with thatched roofs. Good place to stay if in the area for visiting Stellenbosch and Frankchoek and the wine lands .
We stayed at the Grande Roche for two nights. The staff were very friendly and our room was lovely and comfortable with nice touches such as evening snack tray. We ate in the hotel restaurant both nights (as other local restaurants were closed over the Christmas period). The food was delicious but lacked many vegetarian choices. We visited a local vineyard and were able to arrange drop off and collection via the hotel's own taxi shuttle service, which was convenient. For a 15 minute journey there and back, this cost R480.
During a week in Cape Town my wife and I took a few days out to visit the countryside. We spent one night at this super little hotel. Staff were attentive and courteous. The rooms were a delight - spacious and well appointed with complimentary wine and a small terrace. Bathrooms were stunning. Service at the pool was via a phone line to the restaurant with snacks and drinks brought hastily to the pool side. Our evening meal in the popular restaurant was perfect for the occasion. Having had a 10 course dinner the night before it was great to get three classic courses including the 600g steak. All in all, a very enjoyable stay in a lovely little hotel set in vineyards. I should also not forget the yoga session which helped start the day well before a hearty breakfast.
We have been in Paarl many times before, but have never stayed at Grand Roche before. Got a really good price on Booking.com and booked us in for two nights. The arrival was really nice, both at the gate and at the reception. I also asked them to put o bottle of MCC in the room when we got back - which they did( and a good one). Very nice room/suite, with an patio overlooking the vineyards on the estate. Very good beds and also very nice living room. The whole estate gives a luxury feeling ! The restaurant had recently been changed and are now called Viande and that is where the breakfast i served. The Viande is open for non guests as well - that the former restaurant didn't do. The breakfast was very good and it was nice to sit outside in the morning! We also had a massage that was booked via Grand Roche and the girl that did the massage was very good - so we can recommend that. We had a very nice stay at Grand Roche and it it hadn't been for the following, we have rated it with a 5. Reason is this: - The floor tiles in the shower was loose, so when standing on them, old water that smelled bad, popped up. - On the floor ,under the basin we also found ants that was dry, so been there for a while. Clearly - both things above should not to be found in a place like Grand Roche. Both things should have been noticed by the cleaning staff and taking care of by maintenance. When we left, the staff at reception was informed about the above issues. So for us, we truly hope that the above issues was a one time thing, so we can think of coming back to Grand Roche next time we are in Paarl.…
