We recently spent two wonderful (non-consecutive, long story!) nights at Swartberg Country Manor. Riaan (the manager) greeted us at the door and already knew our names before we even introduced ourselves! He made us feel instantly welcome and spoke to us like friends instead of guests. We were shown to our room after checking in. We were staying in the...

We had a FANTASTIC stay at Swartberg Manor. The accommodation was luxurious, the food served at Patat restaurant was delicious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We would love to go back! Highly recommended.

Wonderful authentic renovated chic manor. Great porch and pool, everything has direct view on the spectacular Swartberg mountains. Staff asks questions to see how they can make your stay unforgettable. Hidden gem!! Room Tip: ask for the authentic manor house

We stayed at Swartberg Country Manor for two nights. Very clean non self catering cottage with a picturesque view of the Swartberg. Extremely good service. For those willing to pay the price the food is excellent. Good location from where you can explore the Swartberg pass, Cango caves and quaint klein karoo towns.

This was my favourite stop on route from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. It is in the most tranquil setting. Stayed in the main guesthouse, unfortunately in a room without a view (late booking). Beds comfy. Ceiling fans only. Restaurant which you need to book had wonderful fresh food, and one night a BBQ which was fantastic. The staff on...

Driving through the Karoo on our way from Capetown to Port Elizabeth, we stopped here for the night. The place has stunning views, the rooms are well appointed with an attractive restaurant and deck area. Its a family operation that has really focused on ensuring that all the staff provide visitors with an outstanding experience. We loved the food and...

Everything was perfect - room, pool, restaurant, food, maintenance, surroundings, staff. We woke up to a washed car without asking for it - great job. The place is highly recommendable fir a few days relaxations after a full day driving on dirt roads.

Stayed here Nov 16 - we were blown away by the setting, it is 360 degree's of stunning views. We were given a warm welcome and the kind hospitality continued throughout our stay. The restaurant is small and intimate - choices are limited but this reflects the high standard of cuisine, with home grown veg and quality meats. The room...

We are having the best time on the farm. The.Best.Time! Firstly...its amazing being surrounded by the most beautiful valley and sounds of nature on your doorstep. The accommodation (Luxury Rooms) are so well kept, beautifully decorated and spacious. Riaan and Leoni are so hospitable and made us feel right at home since we stopped here. The food requires a special...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Swartberg Country Manor is nestled on the farm "Voorbedacht" situated in the Cango Valley at the foot of the world-renowned Swartberg Pass. The picturesque panoramic view of the Swartberg Mountains will bring comfort to anyone that wants to "get away from it all" and simply soak up the peace of its tranquil surroundings. The farm was purchased in 2003 and welcomed its first guests in February 2005. The extraordinary views of the Swartberg Mountain from the veranda of the original farmhouse compelled us to create a venue where more people could share in the tranquillity and serenity of this beautiful valley."Voorbedacht" farm is a working farm, which offers our guests the unique opportunity to explore and experience the true essence of subsistence farming in the Little Karoo. Among the various agricultural products farmed, we also farm livestock such as, cattle, sheep and ostriches. Daily walks on the farm allow guests to experience the peace and serenity of this beautiful valley, while for the more "wild at heart"; mountain bikes are available to explore the more rugged terrain. ... more   less
