Had a wonderful time in my short stay at the hotel. Was greeted by a friendly manager who took me on a personal tour of the facilities after a long drive from Cape Town. Great selection of wines and spirits in the small, comfortable and relaxing bar. Room was a suite and extremely relaxing. Restaurant very accommodating and the food...

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at The St James. It is a lovely hotel, with fairly extensive grounds and a stunning location on the lagoon. There are attractive lounges, which were always quiet, giving a feeling of being a guest in someone's home, rather than a paying guest in an hotel. Our room was quite spacious, with a...

We were greeted by an enthusiastic manager who tried his best to make us feel welcome, but it quickly became clear that we were out of place as a young couple. At dinner, we were the only people below the age of 60. After dinner, we tried to get a drink at the bar but it seemed limited to G&T...

We stayed here for four nights in late January and have nothing but praise for the whole place, wonderful setting right on the lagoon, stunning views, peaceful and excellent service from all staff (including the guy who cleaned all the cars every morning)! The food both at breakfast and dinner was superb - we ate there all four nights as...

Our wonderful hosts in Knysna managed to get us a NYE dinner booking at this hotel. What a disaster! The service was incredibly slow and inattentive. We waited almost an hour between finishing our starters and the arrival of our very ordinary main courses. This was the same for all tables and a siege mentality camaraderie began to grow amongst...

We were lucky enough to stay at a number of 5 star hotels whilst travelling SA on honeymoon and the cost and service comparably to those (e.g. Mont Rochelle, Settlers Drift) was not on par with what we received at The St James. The setting is beautiful and the rooms are sizeable but the delight ended there sadly. The decor...

Nicely located at the sea, a little outside of Knysna. An elegant house surrounded by a large garden, this alone already a perfect place to relax. Quite a number of sunbeds around a nice and large pool. The stylish house has not too many rooms, so the number of guests is ok. Beds and sleeping quality are great, and it's...

Just west of Knysna, off N2, along the Bay this beautifully decorated hotel situated in lush well maintained gardens. Beautifully decorated rooms, nice swimmingpool, excellent breakfast. The citycentre is just a few km's away. Ample walking, hiking and golf options. If you do not want to go out, dinner is also good!

We spent four weeks travelling in South Africa and Zimbabwe and St James was our favourite accommodation, it ticked all the boxes. Our hosts could not have been more helpful, we even had a flat tyre on the last day and they arranged to have the wheel replaced! Our room was extremely well appointed and comfortable, the food at breakfast...
