The hotel is ageing badly and is not being maintained Rooms were dusty Shower drain was blocked The hotel is running on skeleton staff, no concierge when we arrived And on departure, we waited 15 minutes and concierge still did not appear Breakfast was dismal All this probably a result of low occupancies I would recommend you find a boutique hotel or B&B This hotel is nothing compared to its heyday There was so much peeling paint and damp and dirty carpets Felt like a two star motel from a cheap American movie

It's been a couple of years since our last visit to Oubaai due to COVID-19 Spoke to the manager prior to visit explaining to him all the negative reviews on here , to which i was told things will definitely not be like that. Upon arrival we were checked in and driven to room we had booked a special which was a room for us with an interconnecting room for the kids. rooms are nice and big but thats where it ends.. after 4 phone calls and waiting an enternity fir extra blankets they arrived as we were about to sleep. breakfast next morning was extremely busy with some many people trying to eat at the same time... where was the covid protocols? breakfast very lackluster compared to what we had at Fancourt day earlier but i guess you get what you pay for... grumpy staff... broken coffee machine... stinky pool area as something had died recently... nobody was at the pool unlike Fancourt where there were families enjoying the facilities.. 2days couldn't finish quick enough and i have to say this will definitely be our last visit here.. even if it was free!! please rather book elsewhere

It was my first time at this establishment and I must say, smokes and mirrors. The first night we were there it went from a great welcoming to probably the worst stay. I’d say it was an isolated incident however it was one that no one was willing to address. First, the wifi they present does not work. If you go for business, best you have your own router as it keeps going and coming. We went to the Harolds restaurant and they boast for having potters who use carts to transport visitors around the estate, I must note that what I learned from that is that if you are a black person, you must bring your own cart and expect to drive yourself around and NO, this is not service from white people but a poor service rendered by the employed African people. I suppose the employer treats them so well that they think they also own a stake in the estate (I suppose they do because we have “stock options” now and the land belongs to “us”. Needless to say, In the muddy rain I had to walk from the restaurant to my room because at 10, the restaurant closed and we had to vacate and they said they called the potter for us and 30 min later there was no potter seen, maybe that could be because I don’t see colour :). The restaurant manager told us they are leaving and they used a back door (not sure how they teleported to wherever they needed to go) but they vanished and the lights were out. I called the front desk which has to have an Andrea from The devil wears prada, manning it 24 hours a day and luckily he was there and picked up the phone and said that he will call security to bring one around. One came and picked up people and I supposed it was doing what were empowered to do as black people (do right by our own) and it was suddenly full by the restaurant staff who obviously had to go home because you know, curfew. 15 min later, I called and no one was picking up the phone anymore, I suppose Andrea had New York fashion week starting at 11.00 and she had to rush home for a fitting. Needless to say again, we walked from the restaurant which was a little bit fun to stroll with my partner but the rain Andrea, the rain! We got to her spot expecting to see her in her hideous skirt and reception was empty and there was absolutely one (I have videos as proof because we people of colour have to possess evidence). We got to the room 10 minutes later and we used the phone which we are to man in our room and Andre was nowhere to be found, she was gone and the phone rang on its own. I will note that I recommend that people must come here and experience this for themselves, probably by this review something would have changed. The fridge, please get yourself ice because it is hot as coal and I am convinced it is for decoration. You could use it as a heater. When you request robes (which were supposed to be in the prepared room) you are never asked what size you want, they will assume based on your voice pitch and bring you the smallest size. The noise next door from what seemed to be the remaining potters was amazing and I had to be this Karen that I am on this review and tell them to keep it down. If there was nothing to rate out of the 5 starts, I would give them that. They have potential but they need to review the requirement for EEA and start from scratch. Oh, one last thing, the spa, you have to book it 19 days prior because when we came, it was just Anelisa, Sisanda, Mathapelo on the waiting list because it was full for the whole weekend and I mean from all the services they offered, everyone wanted to do all of them. Room service closed at 20h30 -fine Order was made at 19h30. I had to follow up 20h10, and received no call back repeatedly until 21h00 despite me asking what was happening, and then a shift change. Not once was I called back. The staff who had taken my order had decided to rather wait until their shift was over than deal with situation At around 21h35, I was informed that my order had not been received - no kidding No other food place is nearby. Good times Breakfast better be good

I dont think the service is so bad. I do think management is non existed. On arrival no one greets you. The reception area was also empty. And we had to wait with all our baggage just to be send back to the parking lot with no help because someone will take us to our room. After waiting a while someone picked us up very friendly and took us to our room. He did mention he is new and we had to carry own baggage at the end because he was not sure where our room was. And the rest of our stay was the same. Had a great round of golf. 5 star course.
