I stayed at Steenberg for 3 nights in May and did not want to leave! This hotel is utterly beautiful, thoughtfully designed (the interiors by the hotel manager I hear), and the service is faultless. This is how a 5-star boutique hotel should be - personalised, engaging, and homely. The premium room was tastefully decorated and the space enormous. Service from the moment I arrived until the moment I left was incredible, not too pushy, but thoughtful and in tune with my needs as a guest. The team proactively made my stay more enjoyable, planning ahead dining reservations, wine tasting bookings, and in-room treats. I felt like they had gotten to know me and my style over the course of the 3 days and I felt very special because of it. The farm is stunning, the Sauvy B is one of the best in the Western Cape, and the facilities are outstanding. No gym, no problem - the hotel will arrange for a day pass at the Virgin Active in Steenberg and shuttle you there and back privately! Now that's service! I will 100% be back when I'm next in Cape Town. Thank you, Catherine and team!!…
I literally do not want to leave! A much missed visit back to South Africa and this was first stop on the holiday. 4 days with the family and wow! Incredible. Stunning location. Beautiful room. The most wonderful staff. The restaurant was SO good we have eaten here every night. Cannot recommend this any higher!
We stayed only 1 night at Steenberg however it felt way longer! The warm welcome by Ashley, the fantastic One Bedroom Premier Suite, the wine tasting done by Wesley, the tapas at Bistro 1862 and the next morning breakfast in bed. This experience was amazing and we can really recommend it if you want to spoil yourself.
Most amazing and friendly staff from the welcome until the goodbye! Not to mention the view, atmosphere and beautiful gardens. The room was fresh, clean and cozy. The complementary bottle of wine was a true experience and tast of the vineyards that surrounded us. We Loved every moment of our stay and will be back for sure.
We always stay at Steenberg as our last stop when we visit SA, to finish our trip on a high. This was our 4th visit, and we stayed for 5 nights this time. From the moment we arrived it was luxury all the way, and certainly up to the standard we have come to expect over the years. We only book the basic room, as the hotel simply doesnt have any bad rooms. There's no risk of having a view over the dustbins, or a noisy street, and the luxury is all high standard. The staff are so friendly and accommodating and seemed to proactively anticipate our every need. I have to admit we hardly left the hotel during our stay, to the extent that the staff in both restaurants knew who we were and our preferences. As a guest, there was no visible adverse impact from the covid difficulties which have hit the tourism industry at this hotel. A huge credit to both staff and management who must have worked tremendously hard in very difficult circumstances to maintain this standard. We have already booked our next stay and look forward to returning next year. Thank you!…
Disappointing experience. Expensive and not good value for money. Spa treatments very average. This was a 60th getaway gift from me to my sister and I had specifically requested something special for her 60th. They assured me they did that......when we got to our room in the evening, there was a note on the bed to someone else, not my sister! Our dinner reservations were also changed without us requesting to do so. I would not choose to return.
We visited here as a seasoned couple to this beautiful country and kept this venue to our last stop and delighted we did. Small, intimate, friendly and good quality. Loved the golf course and friendly members. Hotel staff so friendly and fun - too many to mention but I hope you remember us. We felt really at home with you thank you all . 🙏
We had a lovely stay in the linked family rooms which were very spacious. The estate felt very safe and the staff were all very welcoming and happy to go above and beyond to ensure we had a good stay. The breakfasts were fantastic and the shuttle service to local restaurants really helpful. Looking forward to returning already.
We had an amazing few days at Steenberg. Room was so comfortable and the hotel made an extra effort to have it ready for us when we arrived in the morning from an overnight flight. We really enjoyed a lunch at Tryn and the tapas dinner at Bistro 1682 - both were delicious, although the prawn starter at Tryn was a particular highlight (of all the meals we had in South Africa, not just at Steenberg). A wine tasting was included in the cost of our room, which was a great touch (we obviously added a few extra wines too). Gardens and pool area were beautiful - just perfect for a few hours relaxing in the morning. All the staff at the hotel and in the restaurants were kind and friendly - we would love to return soon and would highly recommend
We have been lucky enough to have an extended stay in beautiful Cape Town and our night at Steenberg was one of our favourites. From the outstanding suite we were given to the beautiful surroundings and some of the best customers service we have received throughout our stay, everything was of the highest quality. The Flagship wine tasting we had with the wonder Ian was a highlight. 8 flights of wonderful wines, beautiful setting. Evening meal was again of the highest quality and reasonably prices for the standard of hotel. I give the whole experience top marks
