We had stayed at Cellars a few times in the past but not recently but we were obviously "on their system" and were greeted with a smile and a promise of an upgrade!

We had arrived early so waited in the bar and offered tea and coffee and the housekeeping manger arrived with an apologetic "the room we were going to give you has a very large wine stain on the carpet which we need to get cleaned so we will give you an even better room".

Well, that turned out to be our own two storey house with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, lounge, dining room and private garden. Simply magnificent, beautiful furnishings, sublime comfort and a massive thank you to the management and staff at Cellars who arranged this. We had a magnificent two days and what better way to relax before heading off to the Kruger National Park.

From start to finish the staff were superb, friendly and helpful as we have come to expect from a Relais Chateaux property.

The flagship Greenhouse restaurant was closed the two evenings we stayed but we had booked to dine later on in our trip when we had returned to the Cape. We had one meal in the Conservatory restaurant, it was a very quiet night there but the food was lovely and our young waiter very entertaining.

A terrific stay which we always remember but we will be back!

We stayed here for 3 nights with friends as part of a 'mini tour' of Cape Town area. We all loved everything about this place. We were greeted by Helenica who presented us with refreshing towels and a lovely ice tea and most of all an amazing genuine smile which made us feel immediately welcomed. Our room was in the Hohenhort building and overlooked the gardens and swimming pool. The overall feel of this place is one of warmth and tranquility and nothing seems too much trouble for anyone. We had dinner booked as a party of 4 which gradually expanded to 11 as family and friends who were staying nearby as part of a wedding party were accommodated without any fuss at all. The meals were fantastic with breakfast starting with a huge array of different foods complete with water and 'bubbly'. The dinners were outstanding and I can thoroughly recommend the Springbok. Thanks must go to Lisa who we bumped into several times and were captivated by her warmth and good humour. There were several other members of staff who seemed genuinely friendly and welcoming - the barman and waiter who served us most nights (so sorry didn't see your name badges).
The whole of the Cellars exudes a warmth and opulence and along with the beautiful gardens made it a memorable stay. I hope we can come back again and experience the same hospitality.

My wife and I recently stayed at The Cellars-Hohenort and were completely blown away by the location (absolutely stunning backdrop of Table Mountain, and surrounded by beautiful, lush gardens with a great little 25 min after dinner walk around the estate), the service (everything requested was done with a smile no matter how difficult the requests! We had our cat with us the 2nd night and they went as far as buying us a litter tray with litter, bowls, food and a scratch pad, with only the mention of bringing him!). The food was also incredible and in 2 days we never ate anywhere else - the cheese soufflé is a must! We really couldn’t have been happier. Thanks Nicolene and team for all the effort and positive vibes - we’ll be back for sure!

We have been staying at the Cellars Hohenort on two occasions in the past and we were greatly impressed with the general high standard of this establishment . Now after a several years break we wanted to repeat the experience . Unfortunately this time we found the level of service and housekeeping deteriorated markedly . Moreover an unpleasant incident spoiled our stay there . On an occasion when we left the hotel for a day on town we locked our valuables in the room safe . Upon returning we found the safe unlocked which obviously prompted us to check the contents . We found that the amount of 2500 Euros were missing . When we reported this to the manager he profusely apologised and assured us that the investigations will be conducted . As a form of a recompense he offered that we shall receive one (!) breakfast for one (!) person free of charge (+/- R270) . Compared to our loss of over R40000 we found this offer rather offensive . We don't intend to visit the Cellars Hohenort in future .

Dear AndrzejS808, Thank you for sharing your feedback. The outcome of our formal investigation indicated that there was no evidence of theft. As you know, the hotel acted quickly on receiving your report. We conducted immediate searches and employed an independent security company to conduct polygraph tests. There was also no evidence that the safe had been tampered with or damaged. As you declined to open a case of theft with the local police and based on the outcome of our investigations, we cannot take the matter any further. We understand your frustrations and are sorry that your visit to Cape Town was marred by the loss of your cash, a very unpleasant experience. In light of the above, we must consider the possibility that the cash may have gone missing prior to your arrival at our hotel, without your knowledge. Kind regards Sebastian Berinato General Manager

The Cellars-Hohenhort is an outstanding property being part of Relais & Chateau. It is embedded in the surroundings of Constantia, in a beautiful garden, where every detail was cultivated beyond expectations. Garden grown vegetables, a little vineyard, attention to details through and through. The arrival was perfect, the greeting by the lovely Front Office Manager outstanding and the room which had been assigned was just what we needed for the end of our memorable trip to South Africa. The whole was topped by one of the best breakfasts which we ever had, not only from an offering perspective but also from the attention to detail of all the staff. The same was true in the restaurant in the evening as well as out on the lawn close to the pool right to the Spa, where again, the professional attention to detail and the skills provided exceeded our expectations. We will be back for sure, as it rounded up our trip very nicely. Thank you for a lovely stay

My wife Debbie and I had never been to South Africa before so didn’t know what to expect. This hotel was our first experience of South Africa, and what a wonderful introduction it was. We wanted to stay slightly out of Cape Town and this for us was the perfect spot. They run a morning scuttle service into Cape Town which takes about 20 minutes and back at about 15.30. The hotel is relaxed with beautiful grounds and an outdoor heated swimming pool. From the moment you sign in to the moment you leave the staff make you feel welcome, the rooms are excellent and the food is great. What more could you want.

When you have not seen your cousin for about 50 years, what is the obvious location for a reunion? Cellars, Conservatory restaurant, Constantia, Cape Town, of course. For High Tea. The menu is a delight of savoury and sweet delicacies, with a wide choice of teas and coffee. As always, the service was faultless, adding to the pleasure of the occasion.

I had the pleasure of experiencing the Cellars-Hohenort’s new High Tea menu. This was coupled with an overnight-stay in one of their Premier Suites.

The friendly welcome made a wonderful first impression. Throughout my stay I was impressed by the professional and accommodating attitude of the staff.

The hotel and amenities are of a very high standard, as you would expect, luxuriously and tastefully decorated, surrounded by beautiful gardens.

One gets the distinct impression of the hotel’s history, which dates back to 1693. The original paintings and all the fresh flowers added to the ambience.

The High Tea consisted of 4 courses of delicacies presented in the stylish Greenhouse. We enjoyed classic sandwiches, irresistibly savoury treats and baked scones with all the condiments. We finished with an array of decadent cakes.

We enjoyed a glass of MCC, along with a selection of different teas. The preparation and explanations by our waiter was pure theater.

A wonderful aspect of the Cellars-Hohenort is that it is a dog friendly establishment, and our furry friends were suitably pampered.

The suite was fantastic with numerous luxuries, each individually decorated, generous in size, light, airy and very comfortable. Stunning views!

The delicious breakfast was served in the magnificent gardens surrounded by the stunning vistas of the Constantia Valley.

My expectations were exceeded by all aspects of this memorable, idyllic experience.

A big thank you to all the wonderful staff!

Quite possibly the most beautiful hotel and grounds we have had the privilege of experiencing. We were met with warm lemongrass scented towels and a lovely drink at check in. A manager gave us a fantastic tour and information on this historic property filled with beautiful flowers, art, handblown glass in windows, and views of mountains, gardens and all the way to the Indian Ocean at the most spectacular sunset! Our room was spacious and luxuriously appointed with every possible thing we could need or want. The bed was comfortable and the linens were luxurious. A lovely comfortable sofa was a perfect place to relax with a cup or tea or coffee from the Nespresso machine. The bathroom was lovely, the amenities from Africology and a heated towel rack completed the feel of luxe. Dinner in the Conservatory did not disappoint! Food and wine were exceptional. I had Springbok and a side salad: both were so perfectly flavored, I may have groaned with delight. My husband had a seafood risotto that was also over the top. The bread and sun-dried tomato spread and lemon basil aoli were a wonderful surprise, and then an "amuse bouche" of two perfect arancinis. For desert we had the chocolate cake with papaya and ice cream. The papaya lacing the plate was the best part to me!!

Breakfast was perhaps the loveliest. You could order off the menu but a buffet was complete with everything from a bloody mary bar to carrot ginger juice, two types of salmon, a beautiful spread of fresh and dried fruits, amazing baked goods, cheeses and so much more: all presented with craft and care: a delight to all the senses. Excellent coffee!

The grounds of this stunning property are beyond the imagination. We walked around on the well manicured paths for over an hour and I am not sure we saw it all. The 300+ year old Camphor trees on the property that came from Japan with the East India Company are something majestic to see.

The gift shop is beautifully appointed and our lovely representative explained about the artists who supply much the shop, so we had to buy some exquisite souvenirs!

We finished our stay with a couples massage and facial in the spa. "Shivon" was possibly the best massage therapist I have ever had, and I have had some very good ones!

The exceptional property, beautiful rooms, spectacular gardens and masterfully crafted food at Cellars Hohenhort can only be excelled by their incredible staff. Everyone was so professional but kind and friendly and well informed. They made us feel so very welcome and wanted and valued. We will return to this magical place. It is about 20 minutes from downtown Capetown but an otherworldly experience. They can arrange private tours, drivers etc given enough notice. Don't miss this beautiful Cape Town experience!

From the minute you are welcomed into the Hotel you feel that you are very special. The service from the front desk to the Restaurant is first class with nothing being too much trouble. The quality of the food was outstanding and the selection of wines were perfect. We stayed in a deluxe Suite which was very large and had a great outlook on one of the pools. It was never crowded and you could walk freely around the well kept gardens, sometimes seeing a resident turtle amongst the vines. Overall highly recommended as it is not in the City so a more relaxed stay. Overall one of the best Hotels we have stayed in and would recommend anyone who is thinking of going there
