We spent one night for our wedding anniversary and we could not find anything wrong with this place. From the friendly security guard at the entrance boom, to the welcoming receptionist and ever so helpful Assistant General Manager. Nigel and his staff in the restaurant and bar area was very helpful and only served the best cocktails and food. Not too mention our wonderful couples massage at the SPA - do yourself a favor and book, you will not be disappointed. Big Thanks to Nikki Howard in reservations. You truly made our anniversary one to remember and we felt so at home (all the staff knew who we where and why we where there). We will definitely be back soon, for another parents night out!
My wife and I recently stayed at The Cellars-Hohenort and were completely blown away by the location (absolutely stunning backdrop of Table Mountain, and surrounded by beautiful, lush gardens with a great little 25 min after dinner walk around the estate), the service (everything requested was done with a smile no matter how difficult the requests! We had our cat with us the 2nd night and they went as far as buying us a litter tray with litter, bowls, food and a scratch pad, with only the mention of bringing him!). The food was also incredible and in 2 days we never ate anywhere else - the cheese soufflé is a must! We really couldn’t have been happier. Thanks Nicolene and team for all the effort and positive vibes - we’ll be back for sure!
There's nothing wrong with the looks of this place. Beautiful hotel located in beautiful surroundings in Constantia. But as a 5-star upmarket hotel this place was a big disappointment. First of all when we checked in at the hotel we were asked by the duty manager if we wanted a wakeup call the next morning. Seeing that we had forgot our phone chargers we requested the wakeup call for 07:00 in the morning. They even offered us to bring coffee at 07:00 with our wakeup call which we happily accepted. But next morning there was no wakeup call and no coffee. Relying on the wakeup call we had turned off our phones and that resulted in us oversleeping. I brought this up with the receptionist next morning, and she sincerely apologised and asked if we wanted coffee and a wakeup call the next morning. I smiled and accepted her apology and the wakeup call for the next morning. Everyone makes mistakes. The next morning we overslept again. No wakeup call. No coffee. We tried the spa for a massage. But I can honestly say it was the worst massage I've had. I had scratch marks on my back afterwards. On one evening of our stay we were busy in our room getting dressed for dinner. While we were just in our underwear the door to our room suddenly got unlocked and in walked a housekeeper. No knocking or no asking if she could come in. She entered the room starting her turndown service. I don't mind a housekeeper seeing me walk around in my underwear - but this is really not the kind of service I would expect from an upmarket hotel. In the package we had booked there was a dinner included. We had dinner but was afterwards presented with a bill. I asked the waiter if the dinner wasn't included in our stay, and he went out to check this with management. He apologies and said the dinner was included in the price we had paid for our stay. However on checkout next day I was presented with the final bill. The hotel had still charged us for the dinner. In addition to that they had no record of the amount we had already pre-paid online + the amount we had paid at checkin. Generally it just felt very unprofessional and I had to show my credit card transactions from my online bank to prove that we had already been charged for room charges. Sadly this was overall a very disappointing experience. I understand that things can go wrong in hospitality. But when things goes wrong - there's usually a great opportunity for to make it up again and prove to your guests that you care about them. But this hotel doesn't seem to care about any of that and that's why I would't recommend this hotel to anyone.…
My wife and i like going out for tea and scones once a month as a special outing and as she is an avid gardener she wanted to see the magnificent gardens at Cellars-Hohenhort. They are stunning well worth a visit apart from the scones , jam and cream
After a last minute scramble to find a wedding venue, Charlene, her team and the rest of the staff did an incredible job of pulling together the absolute wedding of our dreams. From inception to close I could not fault the Cellars-Hohenort. Picturesque gardens, landscaping and exceptional food and dinning options along with the most friendly and attentive staff truly helped make our wedding day and stay truly unforgettable.
