My family and i needed a night out to visit the V&A,and we chose to stay at "The Verge" as my 12yr daughter now calls it..from making the booking with Rochelle to check-in with the lady at the reception,the experience was exceptional..when we got to our rooms,we couldn't have asked for better,the decor, the layout and the amenities, everything was on point..i fully appreciated how spacious,airy and how clean the apartment was..white crisp linen ,omg ,i said a silent hallelujah,..overall our experience at The Verge was memorable,thank you management, thank you staff,you will be seeing us soon,we will stay longer next time..

Short walk to beach promenade and many fine restaurants. Good value for your money. Apartment is quiet and comfortable but you’d want the AC in warm weather. Very helpful staff with a special shout out to Antonio who went out of his way to help us.

We recently had the good fortune to stumble across this apart/hotel in google as we needed another night in Cape Town recently as our Airbnb apartment was full and new tenants were arriving. They have a check in of 3pm but said we could drop our cases off early.. when we arrived at 10.30 am they said the room we booked was not ready but we were welcome to take keys of another room.. which was a huge bonus and enabled us to offload our bags etc. The rooms are clean, bright and have everything needed as there is a perfectly adequate kitchenette with washer/dryer , coffee maker and fridge/freezer etc. Our room also had a large terrace with excellent views into lions head . There is also a BBQ on the terrace for use. A small Juliette balcony in the living area also allows air to flow. Our only negative was that there is no air con in the bedroom only the sitting area and it just didn’t cool down enough . Our checkout was equally as helpful and although we vacated the room at the time requested they gave us a room later in the day to shower and change before heading to the airport and our flight to London . Would definitely consider staying again and thoroughly recommend for the convenience of its location on Main road, Seapoint being so close to everywhere you need to get to in the city, the beaches or the waterfront.

I had a long term rate with this hotel and was booked for several months. Unfortunately, the woman who worked there when I made my reservation left the company and they hired the DEVIL. Her name is Danielle [--]. We mis-communicated about my reservation (I thought I had one based on prior emails and she thought I did not). Danielle threw me out of the hotel with one hour’s notice, knowing full well I had traveled with all my luggage and had no reservations or plan to go elsewhere. Plus, my best friend was on a 30 hour flight from NYC to visit and had booked a reservation to stay in the hotel, on my recommendation. I told Danielle she was not going to throw me out on the street and literally had to barricade myself in the room with chairs while I tried to find a reservation for later that day in the area - on one of the busiest weekends of the year. The rooms are unbearable without A/C and there is a shady crowd that hangs out all day and night by the McDonalds and ShopRite (right outside their doors). This hotel just does NOT deserve anyone's business - they will evict you and leave you on the street. I checked into Sunshine Letting, which is in a MUCH better location, has lovely owners, the staff was more than accommodating and they have a pool and BBQ area. Skip the Verge and head on over to Sunshine Letting, you won't regret it.

Hi Melissa, I think it's best that everyone that reads this review should get some context, since you've given your version which is simply one-sided and untruthful. You were quoted for an extension at a price you weren't happy with, which you unsuccessfully further tried to discount and it was made quite clear that we could not accommodate you for less - at that point, a price was given to you and there was no formal booking made for the extension. This cannot be disputed and we're happy to provide the correspondence which illustrates a timeline of events. We work on simple principles - a booking is made, payment is taken and a booking is confirmed. There is no grey area of thinking you have a booking or are entitled to one because of who you are, which friends you have or what blog you write for. You were sent clear communication that we could not accommodate you based on the hotels occupancy (100%), since no booking was actually made for the extension you wanted, nor paid for or confirmed. On the day of checkout (as per your confirmed booking), you were asked to checkout at 10am which is the standard checkout time. At this point, you were extremely rude and bombastic (to say the least) to multiple staff members and we simply don't tolerate that behaviour. To clarify: we gave you the same amount of time everyone else gets on the day of checkout and exercised our right of admission, when you refused to leave. The fact that you hadn't found yourself alternative accommodation became our problem and we even offered to assist you with a nearby hotel - which obviously didn't suit you since you didn't want to pay the rates they were offering. Again, we had no other option for you since nothing was confirmed. The fact that you have tried to slander our establishment, belittled a staff member publicly (who might I add is a human), included untruthful nonsense about the area being "shady", moaned about a Standard unit which does not advertise nor claim to have A/C and then even had the audacity to punt another operator around the corner, should show other readers the type of character we are dealing with here. If you are looking for a place to stay for s proper holiday, stay away from this hotel. For a four night stay we were charged an additional R580 as a "cleaning fee" and twice we had to make the bed ourselves, wash the glasses and do the dishes. We also had to fetch clean towels and toilet paper from reception twice. The linen was never changed, the room was only serviced and cleaned properly once, after the first night. This is worse than staying at home, so if you don't want to sweep and clean etc. every day, find somewhere else to stay. At this hotel you get charged extra for service that is non existing.

Hi Andre Thanks for your valued feedback Our rates include housekeeping Monday - Saturday with additional on request I chatted to our front desk manager, and he mentioned that your wife had denied our housekeepers access on a couple of occasions, which is the only instance in which we wouldn't service a room. Regarding the cleaning fee, this is generally included in the rate, but I believe that in your instance, you booked via a daily deal site at a much discounted rate. This site packages the rates slightly differently and charges the housekeeping fee on top. I am sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused, and we have subsequently terminated our relationship with the partner in question. We hope to see you again in future, and will be sure to offer you the excellent service that we pride ourselves on. James
