Stayed one night, very comfortable, nice management and staff. Not 5 stars, but a very pleasant experience. Spend some time in the pub, great vibe. the rooms are located upstairs, and there is a wonderful old world feel about the place. The meals, though not luxurious are tasty and value for money.

Went with a group of friends for drinks at the bar and had an average experience. Beers were cold however the barman on duty had a massive problem with us paying by card even though each round was more than R100. Stay for one beer, bring cash, but after the beer go to one of the many other bars in... More

It's almost 11pm on a Monday night and it sounds like a night club in our room! When asking the bar very politely if there is any sound control on any day of the week, he basically told me to expect to only sleep at 2am everynight!! I can completely understand Later in the week and weekends but on a... More

Quite basic but centrally located. Friendly staff who were always willing to help. Dorm room was a bit noisy but this was kind of expected. Nice balcony area ideal for chatting at end of day. Wifi connection ropey but available - computer also available for use. Budget accomodation

We had a few drinks and grabbed a quick dinner on our last night in CT. Staff very friendly, but one can see that the building is in need of an update. We sat outside on the pavement which is good for some "people-watching" - of which we saw all shapes and sizes - a real mixed culture pot. Food... More

We stayed over for a weekend in august as a birthday present for my boyfriend. The 'haunted' room was our home for 2nights. With our own balcony overlooking the beauty of the heart of cape town, the room was well equipt with the basics. The staff were friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time in the bar. Located close to... More

Clean room, but sheets with holes and didn't feel nice, kitchen VERY greasy and dirty. Dirty dishes left in the fridge (gross), washed dishes (by the staff) still greasy, sometimes no dishwashing liquid there to clean them by oneself. Everything is very, very old and doesn't give the feeling of a real backpackers. Staff friendly. Furniture on the balcony also... More

We stayed at the Kimberley for 8 days from the 23-31August with my family. We made the best of the situation but this establishment is in serious need of a revamp. The stairs are loose, almost fell a couple of times, the bathroom were constantly dirty. ended up buying disinfectant to use before I use the toilet and bathroom. The... More
