Such an ideal location close to all the major attractions (Museums, waterfront etc.) and lying just beneath Lion's Head, just a short drive away from good hiking! Great coffee, bakeries and restaurants are literally a walk away. The hotel itself is small but stylish and the owner's love for African décor and fabric shines through in carefully selected pieces throughout the hotel and rooms. Managers are friendly and always ready to help out or offer advice. Thank you Anahid, Armin and the team for a fantastic stay, hope to be back soon!
This stylish Cape Town guest house is like a warm embrace on a cold day in these challenging times. Enter the door and you’ll be greeted with all the essential Covid safe protocols at every stage of the check-in and stay - but they have otherwise crafted an ambience within that allows you to forget all about the pandemic outside. It’s truly an oasis. More warm, hospitable and responsive hosts I’ve scarcely experienced. From Luca and Future, the ever present mind-reading managers who anticipate your every need to Florence in the kitchen (who’ll customize her famous omelette to your every whim!) to friendly, efficient Kwanele who’s meticulously sanitizing everything with a smile. Sitting by the pool with our books in the sun - Future was on hand with a selection of sun protection products - and chilled watermelon and iced water to refresh. Luca gave us the insider tips needed to choose the safest route to climb Table Mountain according to our fitness level and meanwhile equipped us with a rucksack loaded with iced water, map and towels on our way out. Breakfast on Christmas morning was truly special ! The owners and team made us all feel like family - our fellow guests from France commented on how awesome it was. The lavish buffet spread complete with Christmas tree fashioned from fruit, the celebratory glass of bubbles, the canapés, Eggs Benedict and thoughtful personal gifts just made our day. With Christmas crackers, jokes and silly hats to top it off. If you have to spend Christmas far from home, make sure it’s at Cape Town’s most welcoming boutique hotel! The really great quiet location is close to everything - including walking distance to lots of great restaurants- and excellent high-speed WiFi. We could not have asked for more. We truly loved our Derwent house experience. Thank you Derwent team for everything - we will definitely be back again soon.…
This is the third time we have been to Derwent House and we can say that the service which has always been excellent continues to exceed expectations! The breakfast spread never disappoints and there is always something for everyone! However, my favourite part is relaxing by the Derwent pool where the ever-attentive Future brings out delicious snacks and ice cold water, plays great summer tunes quietly in the background and makes the best gin cocktails I’ve ever had!!!! The only regret is that I drank it so fast that I didn’t take a picture!! Derwent House is a treat throughout the year but especially during the summer!
Having travelled from the UK, I highly recommend this place. They cared for and looked after me so well (eg they knew I liked oat milk so they got me some for my coffees)!! One of my favourite bits was the cute little gin bar / selection that was put out in the afternoon whilst I was soaking up the sun😍. Christmas breakfast was such a delight too!
Arriving at Derwent House, obe is greeted not only by very friendly staff but also an " all african" flair, created by all the different artworks from all over Africa. The display isnicely colorfull and transport the vibrant african spirit. The little kitchen at which one can serve oneself with coffee for free and all kinds of drinks for a low price is defi atelya big bonus.
