In a city renowned for hospitality, Derwent House stands out as one of Cape Town's leading boutique guesthouses. Located in the heart of the vibrant Tamboerskloof/Gardens neighbourhood, this small hotel combines historic charm, contemporary Afro-chic style and all mod-cons for a uniquely Capetonian blend of ambience, warmth, and comfort. Our wonderful team completes the picture -- we go the extra mile for you and our guests leave as friends. We love colour and celebrate African design - you'll find it everywhere. But when it comes to the basics - like breakfast, bedding, showers, climate control, Wi-fi or news from home - we don't compromise so you don't have to. At Derwent House, you're steps away from the hustle and buzz of Kloof Street, with its collection of superb restaurants, bars and trendy boutiques--and just a few further to the nightlife hub of Bree and Long Streets. Yet just a short car journey from the Table Mountain cable car, the beaches of Clifton or Camp's Bay, and the V&A Waterfront. There's nowhere more central -- but come and see for yourself. We're waiting for you!

We had a fantastic four-night stay at Derwent House to start off our recent trip to Cape Town. From the airport pickup to checking out, we found the hotel staff to be incredibly friendly, gracious, and helpful. They gave us great advice about things to see and do in the city. The hotel is beautifully decorated with local art, which gave it a stylish but also homey and comfortable feel. The location is also great, just a short walk to the restaurants, bars, and cafes on Bree Street. We really enjoyed the delicious breakfast, as well as the afternoon drinks and complimentary cakes and dessert wines! My wife and I were there for our honeymoon, and the hotel gave us some cute gifts and a kind card to celebrate—thanks so much! Would highly recommend to anyone spending a couple days in Cape Town.

Wonderful guests as well, nksawhney--we loved hosting you and getting acquainted. It's a huge responsibility hosting guests for special celebrations and one that we take very seriously: I'm delighted that we helped make it memorable for you both. We really appreciate your awesome recommendation. That you touch on so many highlights of your stay is truly testament to our amazing team, who really do go the extra mile to make sure your Cape Town experience is the very best it can be. And it's great to hear that you loved our cosy ambience, art (thanks for supporting my cause!), and especially our breakfast and afternoon cake selection. Our cooks love what they do and it shows -- but its always gratifying to have feedback from satisfied takers, especially discerning guests like yourselves. It was our great honour and pleasure to host you for this very special [double!] celebration visit -- and we hope that it won't be the last! Please do come back and see us again, any time. Warmest greeting to you both from Cape Town, Anahid & the Derwent team

Some well-travelled friends suggested we stay at Derwent House for our recent 9-day stay in Cape Town, raving about outstanding hospitality, genuine friendliness and great boutique atmosphere. All of these descriptors are not only true, but are only the beginning of what makes Derwent House a fantastic place to stay. The level of attention to detail, and communication among the staff is next-level. Our needs were met, and our expectations exceeded. They made informed and competent tour suggestions, helping us weigh options, and followed through with every one of our requests, often even anticipating some. Anahid, Armin, Luca, Clare, Future (and others whose name shamefully escapes me): you made our stay memorable, and we thank you.

Thank you so much for this warm and generous review, Glessard84 -- we're overjoyed that we lived up to your friends' recommendation and helped make your Cape Town visit memorable! That's the very best accolade of all, and hopefully keeps you coming back again and again -- along with your friends and family. Almost half of our guests are returning guests and almost half of all new guests are referred by previous guests . . . So it's a real family affair at Derwent House 😊, thanks to endorsements like yours. We so enjoyed getting to know you and helping with your activity planning--and eating--while in Cape Town. Only so sorry that we could not organise some sharks for you: you'll just have to come back to try again. Your enthusiasm, warmth and graciousness was remarked upon and much appreciated by the whole team. And over nine days, you two really did become part of the Derwent family. Many thanks to you both for choosing to stay with us and then taking the time to share your experience with other travellers in this forum -- we're all very grateful, and look forward to welcoming you back again in the not-too-distant future! From all of us, all the very best from Cape Town, Anahid, Armin, Luca, Claire, Future and the team

Stay 7th - 14th April 2019 We fell in love with Cape Town because we fell in love with Derwent House. This little boutique hotel exudes warmth & character with its rich & vibrant colours, beautiful friendly owners & wonderful staff. From the moment we stepped through the door at 9pm after a big day of travel & were greeted with a big smile & a lovely glass of wine, we were made to feel welcome. I was celebrating my birthday & the efforts the staff went to setting up our room with balloons & decorations plus champagne was really special & a lovely surprise. The owners Anahid & Armin make the effort to personally meet every person during their stay & nothing is too much trouble. Before our stay Anahid liaised via email with suggestions & recommendations for sightseeing & dining as well as making bookings for us, making the whole stay absolutely seamless. The breakfasts are delicious, the scrambled eggs with trout our new fave! After a day of sightseeing, coming back to such happy faces & genuine interest in our day really felt like coming home. The only sad thing about our stay was leaving as now we miss our new family. Thank you all for making our stay so special & memorable.

Dear KerrieLyn, Wow -- mission accomplished: we helped you to fall in love with our beautiful city!! Hopefully, you'll be back again and again . . . We definitely hope so. It was such fun to work together planning and organising your special birthday visit to Cape Town. I could not be happier to hear that it lived up to your expectations -- and that we were able to help make it special for you. Thank you for this wonderful endorsement--and especially for highlighting the excellence of our amazing team. Speaking on everyone's behalf, we really enjoyed hosting you and getting acquainted. Florence has even suggested that our scrambled egg on toast with Franschhoek trout be renamed after you 😆 . . . and Bongi misses your lovely compliments on her pastries and baking for afternoon tea. We all miss your energy, enthusiasm and appreciation for everything the city has to offer. We'd love to welcome you back again--there's still so much to see and do. Don't wait for another landmark occasion -- we're only a [longish] flight away. We can't thank you enough for your review -- much appreciate your taking the time to share your experience here. And looking forward to next time! From the entire team, warm greetings from Cape Town, Anahid & Armin

The Dewent Boutique Hotel team made our Capetown trip perfect!!! We have been at many hotels all over the world, but the Derwent is outstanding; I do not know where to start: stylish & also African typical interior, warm welcome, fresh towels & drinks after our morning run, delicious breakfast with really everything we liked (especially the daily specials & our individual wishes), perfect recommendations & reservations for restaurants and the city, interesting conversations with the team incl. individual drinks and night cabs, cosy rooms with hot water bottle for the cold nights under the bed each evening, .... I could going on with the list of positive things concerning the Derwent Boutique... Thank you again very much, lovely Derwent team, for this great stay at your place. If we are in CPT, we will definitely stay at your hotel again!

Thank you, Ambassador823313, for this warm and generous feedback: we too wish you could have stayed longer and hope you'll be back again soon. We could not ask for a greater accolade than having helped make your visit to Cape Town memorable -- except a return visit. It's great to hear that we fuelled you up suitably to start your days and that our service stars lived up to expectation. As for our gorgeous landmark -- well, Table Mountain is the centrepiece of the city, so when you're here at the base, you're quickly everywhere! Glad you appreciated staying so centrally. We're truly grateful for your wonderful review -- and hope to have the chance to help create more great memories on a future visit. Meanwhile, from all of us, wish you many sunny greetings from Cape Town, Anahid & the Derwent team
