Excellent location, enormous breakfast spread. Very polite an efficient staff. Spa on site - heated pool ,spacious rooms.we forgot a valuable item in the room an called a day later. It was found and kept for us. Honesty is very hard to come by these days - so that' was definitely appreciated
We stayed here three nights to complete our African vacation. This is a very busy hotel with many guests coming and going all the time. We ate at the Stella Cafe Bar once and the Stella burger was OK, but the chicken sandwich was great. Breakfast buffet provided every morning in the main restaurant was very good. There is a lot of security personnel around the property and you need to be alert when walking around downtown.
We stayed here for four nights as a family of four before exploring the Garden Route. The welcome at the hotel was lovely and staff were very helpful. On arrival we were showed to a family room which was very small, possibly more so as our children are teenagers. We spoke to reception and straight away we were shown some alternative rooms and moved to a much bigger one which made our four night stay much more comfortable. Facilities at the hotel are great and the kids liked the ”nibbles” in reception at tea time, especially the pop corn which was a big hit! Breakfast was also lovely with plenty choice. We made lots of use of the free shuttle service to the waterfront and staff were very helpful, even running us down there before the service had started. We would definitely recommend this hotel as a base to explore Cape Town, which we loved!…
We loved this hotel! The staff were friendly and helpful. They couldn’t do enough for us to make our stay enjoyable. We arrived to a bottle of champagne and some delectable little cakes as it was our (belated) Anniversary. A few days later, it was my birthday and we arrived back to our room to another bottle of champagne, some more goodies and a cake. The breakfast selection was plentiful and delicious and there is a complimentary shuttle to the V& A waterfront. I would highly recommend this hotel!
In general I think I am somewhat fussy but if the room is clean and the hotel is maintained I am usually happy. But what always seals the deal for me is the staff and my comfortability coming and going and the staff at this hotel are exceptional from bookings I did with the very competent Nasheema to checkout I was really happy overall. This will definitely be my go to hotel from now on staying in Cape town.
Where do I start?? Stayed for 10 nights during a business trip. Housekeeping: Their service is inconsistent, and they really need more training. Unacceptable that you provide unsealed water bottles. Who approved the horrible cranberry cookies next to the tacky coffee and tea set?? Speaking of the set, one day you get milk, the next none. One day coffee stirrers, the next day they place my own straws in the cups!! Why is the soap bar changed frequently? One bar was more than sufficient for handwashing for this period. But every other day or so, you take it away and place a new one. What a waste. Breakfast Out of the 10 days, I had breakfast only twice. The staff are unfriendly and you need to beg for coffee. Even then, they don't speak a single word with you. The bacon is awful, and the eggs are so watered down. Room The walls are thin, and you can hear your neighbours on the phone. Carpets are filthy. The windows have poor sealant, and you can hear cars all the time whilst trying to sleep. In all honesty, the bed and pillows are the best of all hotels I've stayed in. Smell There's a constant bad smell on the floor, and cheap humidifiers are seen as you enter the floor. Laundry Laundry is terrible. Items wrinkled and not properly hanged. Laundry bags not replaced in the room. Overpriced for what they do to your clothes.…
Waited two hours for my room and had to ask. Had to find a waiter to get a drink - most of which we fetched ourselves, then had to find one to pay. Outside area filthy, cleaned table myself, ashtrays full and had to wait more than an hour for a bucket of ice and soft drinks. Checked out day early as not good for my health to endure this torture.
As Southern Sun hotels go this is pretty average. As a business traveler my expectations have grown. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly; however, the rooms and furnishings are dated and I was unimpressed by the instant coffee in the rooms and the piece of plastic in my scrambled eggs. I will most likely return to the more modern SunSquare next visit.
The Cullinan staff treated us like 'royalty' even before we arrived. Breakfast is divine.. The rooms are spacious and serene.. Special mention to staff Andile..Lindile**.. Alicia..Portia..Mark & Eugene.. Appreciate all you did for us!
It's a beautiful hotel with great views. What impresses me is their attention to details. They served a lovey spread with sparkling wine, sushi, cakes and a whole lot more served by the chef himself. The staff is attentive, friendly and helpful. They also have a lovely bar with a deep blue pool which is heated. Perfect for the winter months. I will recommend it to anyone who is looking to host a special celebration or just a romantic stay.
