We had a good room overlooking the pool which was a great place to relax. Very good breakfast outside with friendly staff (though the coffee wasn't the best I've tasted). Travel desk was very helpful. Extremely convenient for the Waterfront, and glad we stayed at the Commodore, rather than there - best of both worlds. Decor was stylishly old fashioned...

THE GOOD (1) Location. It just need 3 minutes walk to the famous V&A waterfront, one of the most attractive tourist area. (2) The attention to detail. When we enter the room at night (well, after hanging around V&A waterfront), we found a nice "sweet dream" chocolate. They also put the TV remote with a channel & program list on...

I have stayed here many times over 10 years ago so it has been a long time since I came back. The food is good, rooms are nice, bar is good....My only gripe is with the WIFI....If you want good wifi they want to charge you....When you stop this practice, I will return..

I have to admit I only booked here because the usual hotels I stay at were full. How lucky was I to find this hotel, by entire accident. I stayed in a king suite (for the price other V&A hotels charge for a basic room), the staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. I didn't use any hotel facilities,...

The Commodore is just a 2 minute walk from the V&A waterfront, which is the primary draw for this hotel. The rooms are of a decent size, no frills but very clean. The only issue one tends to have is that the lifts work extremely slowly and guests at the hotel waste a considerable amount of time just waiting for...

We took this hotel because of the location close to waterfront and it served its purpose very well. When I think about the price compared to what you get then it should have had a 2 but location is good. Rooms are small and a bit too old fashioned for my stile. Forget the pool area, small pool and not...

We stayed for a night before our Garden route tour and a week on return. We had asked to upgrade our room on return to catch the wonderful views over the waterfront and Table Mountain and this was not entirely straightforward. However the hotel did give us a great room ultimately. Food, staff, service and cleanliness all excellent as was...

The hotel is located on the edge of the Victoria and Alfred waterfront. You can walk to the restaurants and shops at the waterfront and pick up the open top buses which are a good way to visit sites in Cape Town. The hotel is good, the room was a good size and comfortable even with a cot in it....

THE COMMODORE HOTEL in Portswood Road next to the V&A Waterfront is really great value for money, being next the most popular destination in Cape Town South Africa. The hotel is 4 star, but has a feeling of being luxurious than that, with friendly staff and an excellent restaurant on site. The breakfasts are what ever your culinary delights are...

We'd had lots of recommendations of hotels right on the V&A waterfront. We were so glad we chose the Commodore instead. It's just a short 2 minute stroll from the front but just far enough away from the noise and the seagulls! There's something really nice about the Commodore Hotel. We really enjoyed our 4-day stay. It's relaxed and friendly...
