The Table Bay hotel garners mixed reviews for its value, with some guests lauding the services as worth the price, while others find it a tad expensive. The hotel's cleanliness frequently earns praise, with most rooms described as immaculate, despite occasional pool cleanliness concerns. Many travelers commend the prime location that offers proximity to attractions and stunning views. Guest rooms are generally deemed spacious and comfortable, albeit slightly dated. The service, while mostly appreciated for its warmth, has been criticized for occasional inconsistency. The hotel's classic atmosphere and generous amenities, including a breakfast buffet and shopping mall access, are appreciated by many guests.

...The location is also great since you can walk right out of the hotel onto the waterfront which has dozens of restaurant and shops, or into the mall next door if you need to buy something (or groceries). Its central location made it easy to get from the hotel to other areas of Cape Town...

This hotel has a great location and is decorated beautifully, quite modern but classic in places too which is nice. Now,it claims to be 5 star but in my estimation its not and here is why.1-Rediculous lines of people waiting to have breakfast.2.Used bathroom amenities containers left in bathroom after housekeeping and not replaced with fresh amenities...

Unfortunately our stay at the hotel started off quite poorly with a plethora of issues including a very long check in process by an unfriendly hotel employee, inability to check in until about 8 PM (we arrived over 3 hours earlier.....) due to the room not being ready, luggage not in the room even after the delayed check in, a hotel guest trying to enter our room/ break down the door...., and no view in the Junior Suite we were finally assigned (even though the hotel advertises its views from all rooms). While the manager on duty initially was unable to help us, after our travel agent got involved, the General Manager upgraded us from the Junior Suite we had booked to an Executive Suite as well as a comped mini bar... While we appreciated the larger room and beverages we were offered, we didn't need a larger room, it was upsetting that the on duty manager was not empowered to assist, and that we needed to involve our travel agent...

My family and I spent five nights at the Table Bay Hotel in late July. We occupied three rooms: two "family" rooms and a luxury double... The rooms were all somewhat dated (carpet a bit faded near the window, upholstered chair a bit warn, etc.)... Room service was ok but inconsistent: we had a turn down service the fifth night we were there, and, not that we find this a necessary service, but it made us wonder what happened to it previous nights...

We arrived at The Table Bay around lunchtime and were pleasantly surprised that all of our rooms were ready, we did wait quite a long time for our bags to arrive, in excess of an hour!... The room was bright and in a colonial style which is very in keeping with Cape Town... The bed is very comfortable and the room spacious... House keeping needs some work, we found a wash cloth on a stool in our bathroom from the previous guests, make up in the bathroom draws, an earring, and broken powder in another draw!... It isn’t what it once was and their pricing is excessive for what they can offer in comparison to other hotels in the V&A...

While we appreciated the larger room and beverages we were offered, we didn't need a larger room, it was upsetting that the on duty manager was not empowered to assist, and that we needed to involve our travel agent... We only wanted what we had purchased, and it didn't negate the mediocre service we experienced throughout our 4 night stay... For example, upon (delayed check in), no one showed us the elevators, where our room was located, mentioned anything about breakfast, the spa, or anything about the hotel... Even 4 star hotels and many 3 star hotels do that... When a package of food was delivered, it was not refrigerated as requested, and it was almost comical as no one could locate it for some time, and then after multiple errors we found it had already been placed in our room (although not refrigerated), although the staff at the front desk had no idea...

We went to the table bay for tea Let’s start by saying you were served it seemed by a waiter who either was not trained or did not have the knowledge needed to serve in a grand hotel ... Food arrived different intervals , this is the best an hour wait ,,,,, to receive our order ... The drink took 20 min , if I was paying I would not on principal ... You need to make a huge decision and have this beautiful lounge attended by capable people .I would like to speak with the Hotel Manager as this is very unacceptable ...

...It continued for the entire five days we were there. Thankfully they switched my husband and myself to another floor (a high one) the next day; the view from there was magnificent... The showers were all intermittent and went from very hot to cool water constantly... Room service was ok but inconsistent: we had a turn down service the fifth night we were there, and, not that we find this a necessary service, but it made us wonder what happened to it previous nights... The dining room staff had trouble seating us the first morning (we were 9 and acknowledge thats hard)... wanting us to divide between two tables, when all they had to do was move a few tables together (which they did after we suggested it)... I hate to write a negative review, especially since the staff seemed to try very hard anytime we asked them for something...

The Table Bay Hotel is our favourite in Cape Town - we always stay there... The staff are exceptionally helpful and courteous... The hotel can readily arrange your transportation to the airport... One convenience is that if you are arriving by cruise ship, the hotel will arrange your pickup and transfer from the cruise terminal with just a phone call...

...Some days you do get new toiletries some days you get nothing. Turn down services varied daily, sometimes it was just the curtains closed, somedays everything was done... Breakfast isn’t great, large slow moving queues to access the breakfast room, whilst there is a good selection of items, I have seen better in lower level hotels... If you require hot drinks then you will be lucky as they take so long to arrive... The worst part is the butter pots on the tables are just topped up and not completely emptied and refilled...

...The breakfast was also large and varied with good quality throughout. However the service in hotel is more like 3 star, throughout the stay from check in, spa staff, waitresses were a let down, I waited over 20 minutes for one to come on a un busy lunch service when sat outside, by the pool I waited 15 minutes for a drink and then was told i never ordered it?... !, at reception on check in ours missed important information we observed others receiving, our bags took 30 minutes to come from room to check out too, its a big 4 star resort essentially, if your used to 5 star your be disappointed...

...We had a great 3 nights in Table Bay hotel. It was very comfortable, very attentive service throughout and a fantastic location for the V&A Waterfront with a private entrance up the escalators from reception that take you directly into the shopping centre... The view of Table Mountain through the huge windows in the lounge area and from the comfortable patio area just beyond, is absolutely breath-taking and the buffet breakfast was world class!...

...He suggested that we downgrade but he would not compromise on the agreed room rates we paid... In fact we already placed order for coffee and tea for our family... Half of our family was already seated and having our meals... The restaurant was not even packed and this lady insisted 2 other guests to take over the table when they also refused to be seated there as it is a tight corner we reserved for our family members with kids...

We stayed at Table Bay 15 years ago for a four day break and the service & standard was the same this time as it was then.. simply fantastic!! We booked a 9 night stay and the hotel is immaculate, clean, room serviced each day, sheets changed every two days, breakfast choices were excellent and chefs on hand to make any requests such as poached/boiled eggs... We have recently returned from 5 nights in the Table Bay and I only have positive things to say about this hotel. Of course you could find fault if you really wanted to dig deep but personally we found the service and attention from staff to be of a very high standard... We never experienced any delays with breakfast and front line staff were eager to help... Special thanks to all the breakfast room staff who worked very hard, the concierge desk for their tolerance in organising excursions for us, the staff team who kept our hotel room as good as new every day and to the bar staff who were friendly and accommodating even to the most exhausted travellers!...

My only suggestion, respectfully, might be to add another coffee station so that refills come a bit quicker... This hotel has a lot of American college tour folks and so I think at times it’s difficult for the staff to keep up... In this visit we heavily relied upon the concierge staff, which is Dane Goldschmidt and his staff... Clement Fortune and Chelsea arranged for several day trips and Dane and Clement personally were able to score reservations in the top restaurant(s) in Capetown... Mogmat Abraham, from the concierge desk, was outstanding helping us select restaurants to eat at during our stay via email months before we arrived... Mogmat and the rest of the concierge desk were even more friendly and helpful in person... The check-in staff did a great job accommodating us by getting us into our room a couple of hours early after our 35 hour trip from the states... ...Stayed here for a week of meetings, and was very impressed with the location, facilities, and comfort of the room and bed. First, the room was very nice with an amazing view of the Cape Town harbor and Table Mountain... The bed, sheets, and pillows were first class and quite comfy... The bathroom was nice with a great tub for a soak after a hard day sitting in a meeting room!!... The area the hotel is located in is great with a huge mall just next door and lots of super restaurants and bars along the harbor... A group of us took a harbor cruise out into the ocean -- lots of tourist boats available very near the hotel, as well as plenty of nice shops for African souvenirs and gifts for the folks back home... And the meeting facilities were excellent with great coffee break drinks and snacks... We also had lunch provided for the meetings which was always very tasty...

...The rooms were a good size, well appointed and comfortable, some with a really great water view. The breakfast buffet was solid- good food, and a good variety of options... The location is also great since you can walk right out of the hotel onto the waterfront which has dozens of restaurant and shops, or into the mall next door if you need to buy something (or groceries)... Its central location made it easy to get from the hotel to other areas of Cape Town...

Some days you do get new toiletries some days you get nothing... Breakfast isn’t great, large slow moving queues to access the breakfast room, whilst there is a good selection of items, I have seen better in lower level hotels... If you require hot drinks then you will be lucky as they take so long to arrive... Lots of nice places near by... The spa is generally nice and the treatments reasonable but the hard sell of products was very off putting and I did feel forced into buying things that I didn’t really want... The pool is small but plenty of sun loungers, and plenty of towels available...

...Great view of the ocean and the mountain... Great breakfast and in room dining... However, in room dining was a bit pricy and although good, walking to the mall would give better choice... I found the rooms good, but bathrooms old and simple things such as shower heads and mixers should be standard in a luxury hotel... Location right next to the mall is a major advantage... There are many hotels across the peninsula with better rooms and service...

The hotel is excellent situated, rooms are super comfy and it’s staffed with wonderful, friendly people. My husband has coeliac disease and they went out of their way to ensure he had an amazing fresh breakfast every morning, we were so grateful to the restaurant staff especially Celeste and Amy (THANK YOUUUUU!) The bar serves great drinks, and the spa couples massage was a fantastic way to unwind after our long journey from the UK. If you have a chance definitely eat at Siba, too, it was an amazing experience and the food was up there with the best (again, they catered for our coeliac requirement amazingly!) All in all a fantastic stay!

I am sure that this was an awesome Hotel back in the day. We checked in and it was a Luxury room. Cons: immediately the door did not lock (maintenance please); then lamp did not work; then there was hair in the tub…not ours, and the hardware/towel rack kept clanking to the floor. Oh and the tv welcomed some other guest, did not have our names. What really made this a terrible experience was that the room was next to the service elevators. What we didn’t know until we went to sleep was that our room backed up to the 2 service elevators. All night long and I mean all night long there was a whirring keeping both me and my husband awake. The noise sounded like a siren. We did not sleep. When we complained the manager, Tristan offered a discount. We did not ask for a discount. Well the next day, no discount. They refused to honor that promise. We did get an upgrade but we did not ask for that and it cost Tristan nothing to upgrade us to that room. If you do not sleep due to the hotel, well the hotel should as a courtesy give a discounted rate or comp the night. Pros: the Hotel is the lobby is gorgeous and the breakfast plentiful and fabulous. The concierge and the rest of the staff were welcoming and extremely professional. The rooms are adequate, and the showers literally run hot or cold. They do not work well and there are insufficient outlets to plug in iPhones, power pack, iPad, computer and Apple Watch. I would never stay here again. We travel quite a bit to Europe (many times) the U.S. and many other places and are titanium Marriott people so we know what we are talking about. We figured this hotel would be a treat. Nothing was further from the truth. The problems experienced and the poor customer service is unacceptable for this type of establishment.

Very well located for walking distance to the Silo, Robben Island ferry, Waterfront bars and restaurants, etc. Nice room and facilities. The only problem was that we couldn’t have a bath as no plug was provided and Reception didn’t deliver one when they said they would. Also, there was black hair in the bath from the previous customers - not what I expect from a 5-star hotel.

Great location but needs some modernising. Shower was very temperamental - either really cold or boiling hot. There was a queue for breakfast most mornings (around 15/20 minutes) which was not ideal, especially as when you do get seated there are empty tables, & yet still a queue out of the door. Concierge booked a trip for us but got the time wrong, so we lost out not just on money but also the one trip we really wanted to do. Been home over a week & still no communication from a manager as promised.

Disappointed. Quite expensive and a bit worn hotel We ordered connecting rooms for our kids, which was very important to us, but when we came, they did not have them as promised Our rooms were not ready at agreed check in time and we had to wait more than an hour in the reception - super frustrating when we only had 1,5 days in CT. Location, view and breakfast was great and why it got 3 and not 2 stars

A good hotel in a very central location (with direct access into the mall) with good sized rooms. Possibly in need of a little modernisation - some furnishing in the rooms were damaged, the shower involved a delicate use of 2 taps to try to not get burnt/frozen by the water, and some of the lights in our room didnt work. However rooms are clean and a good size with good air con a large closet, sofa area, terrace and small fridge. Breakfast is varied and the buffet has options that should suit everyone. The bar has a good selection and some inventive and expertly prepared cocktails. For the price, the location is incredibly good and the staff are helpful - not sure you would find a better hotel in the V&A without spending a fortune?
