The hotel is located just across a pedestrian bridge from the marina which is the center of tourist activity containing numerous restaurants, shops, and street entertainment, a great place to walk around. Even befor you enter the elegant lobby the smiling staff is lined up waiting to greet you and attend to your every need. Our room was quite spacious and the large bathrom had a shower stall and separate tub. Breakfast (included in our tour) was from the menu supplemented by a buffet spread of breads, pastries, cheeses, and fruit. We ate at the restaurant one night when we were too exhausted from the day's activities to walk and the food was top-rate. THE place to stay in Capetown.
Our travel agency Africa Travel Resources suggested this lovely hotel. We had a quiet and spacious room with a small balcony, facing Table Mountain and the marina. Very well appointed from scented spray for the bathroom, to laundry detergent, sanitizer, hand lotion plus all the regular you find in a 5 stars. This hotel offers impeccable service, it’s a great testimony to the South African hospitality. They even reached out to me before my arrival, helping us organize tickets to Robben Island with which I was having an issue. Stacey at the concierge desk took the time to respond to my emails more than once guiding me to reserve those tickets. Fabulous service even before arrival! We were met at the airport by one of their chauffeur. If thereafter, you would like to take advantage of their free chauffeur service, do reserve in advance or you might be disappointed. We learned this the first day and then started reserving a day or two in advance and were able to take advantage of this service. The lobby is lovely and each time you enter, whether it’s the porters opening the doors or the reception area personnel, they all make you feel like a very special guest. The hotel is within walking distance to the waterfront with all its restaurants, shops, ferry to Robben Island, mall, supermarket in the basement mall (Pic and Pay) and the Victoria and Alfred market with different shops and eating offerings artisan ice cream, nuts, thai food, pizza and more, better than your regular fast foods. The included breakfast was amazing. A buffet with lots to offer, fresh fruits: (mix mangoes with raspberries absolutely delicious),juices, smoothies, pastries of all sorts, cheeses, meats, custard and far more. The hot breakfast portion can be customized to your liking. Nothing is ever a problem, they will prepare what your heart desires. I would have poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and avocado on the side…even if it wasn’t on the menu. Cape Grace Hotel would be my first choice hotel next time I return to Cape Town.…
The rooms are decent-sized--we always appreciate the double sinks in the bathroom with ample space for two people to spread out their toiletries. Be sure to book a room with a view of the marina--when we walked up to our window we could get a view to the left of Table Mountain. The property has a good restaurant (Signal Restaurant--had a wonderful dinner there, as well as very nice breakfasts every morning) and a fun bar (Bascule Bar). All staff at the hotel were extremely personable and helpful--every one was very anxious to please. We really appreciated the hotel being close to all the stores, restaurants and action down by the water front. Check out my photos for more details.
Awful. Simply put. We had to cancel travel due to the outbreak and travel restrictions. I was told I would get a refund after several emails back and forth as the hotel wanted to keep my $6000 and offer me future travel. Not ok. I was told I would be given a refund. After several weeks a refund was issued but $900 was not. I am told this is because the exchange rate has changed. Unbelievable. During a global emergency they are being extremely unfair and greedy. We have family fighting the pandemic on the front lines, in the hospitals and this is not something we can spend time fighting. I find the staff dismissive, greedy and uncaring. Never will we stay here.
I can't say enough positive things about this wonderful hotel!! From our first greeting upon arrival until the last farewell at departure, every individual at this hotel provided a quality of service and attention to detail that exceeded our expectations. A special shout out to Stacy at the concierge desk who gave us 3 terrific recommendations for dinner. A real plus for the hotel is they have a complimentary Mercedes and driver who will take to you locations within 10km of the hotel. We used this service a lot to go to Table Mountain, to church and to a restaurant. The location of the hotel is perfect and safe - within walking distance to the V&A waterfront. The room was very well appointed and large. The fitness center was nice - hand sanitizer as well as towels and water. The breakfast was out of this world, and the servers in the restaurant would always put a smile on the face of this weary traveler. Among the best hotel stays in my life.…
