    Fantastic boutique hotel
Gorgeous George proved to be an inspired choice as a base for our 6 night stay in Cape Town. Gigi’s rooftop was a great place for breakfast and for evening cocktails. We also dined there one evening and it was lively and had a great atmosphere with good food. But what really makes the hotel special is the friendly and professional staff - from the cocktail barmen to the waiters to the housekeeping staff to the doormen to the receptionists - notably Sippo - all were excellent. They sorted out taxicabs, helped us with our golf clubs (we played golf 4 days during our stay). Ubers also proved a good option in the evening for short rides to the great restaurants around Cape Town. We booked our stay direct with the hotel so check out their own website. We had a lovely one bed suite with walk in shower, nice toiletries. A very enjoyable stay.

    Thank you Gorgeous!
This February we visited Cape Town and were quests in the Gorgeous George. The setting is very stylish with high ceilings, contemporary finishing and a lot of attention to detail! And then we have not even mentioned the stunning rooftop bar with restaurant.... We received excellent service from from all staff numbers, however especially from the hotel manager regarding a special request. Thank you all for making our stay memorable!

    Great location, beautiful rooms!
We enjoyed our stay at the Gorgeous George very much. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and so thoughtfully decorated. Many of the Cape Town sights are within walking distance (e.g. W&A Waterfront, Bo-Kaap), which was great given that we were traveling during peak season, when many roads are clogged. I was also very impressed with the help I received booking day tours. Things worked smoothly and on time. Everything is great except for the breakfast service (not the food, which is great, just the service!); it is way too slow. I do not want to wait 20 min. for a cappuccino and 45 min. for my omelette. This poor service is the only reason I’m not giving 5 points.
Thank you very much for your feedback - it really helps us improve where we can. We are glad you enjoyed your time with us and will ensure the team receives your feedback regarding the breakfast service you have experienced. We hope to see you again soon.

Great place, nice hotel but I wouldn’t recommend working there. I was called in last minute to engineer a Jazz gig in the Pink room. I got to the location and was asked to set up stage and strike all equipment.(which wasn’t part of the original agreement as it is a 4+ man job), however, I still did the job perfectly well. The show was smooth and there were no complaints from the band members or audience. However, when i sent my invoice, I was told to decrease my rates and then told that the management was considering not paying me at all, based off the judgement of someone who wasn’t present at the event. I Found the finance manager Terrance Pearce to be the most unprofessional and rude person I’ve ever had to do business with. Its been 17 days since the job was done and I’ve yet to receive any payment or communication around the matter. I strongly urge anyone who they book for sound in the Pink room to be very careful, the abuse of power is clear. If they have done it to me, most likely they have done it to other workers too. Please be Careful.

Gorgeous George is just… gorgeous! Such amazing design, fantastic staff, the breakfasts are incredible (Hello tofu fry-up!), the location is brilliant, walking distance to practically everywhere you want to go. The exhibition in the Pink Room and the bar area there was just so cool. I’m planning a trip back to Cape Town just to come and stay here again.

Arrive 30 min before check in after a 30 hours of traveling. Directed me to sit in restaurant lobby. I asked if hotel was at capacity and it wasn’t. Still didn’t accommodate. Very disappointing experience.

Went to Cape Town for a wedding, and the Reception party was on the roof of this quirky hotel. On arrival one does find it a bit dark. But it grows on you. The staff are wonderful - all encouraged to just be themselves, and they are all interesting and very individual. We had breakfasts, lunch and wedding party "dinner" and the food is absolutely delicious, kind of Ottolenghi style. Our bedroom was spacious with all you need for tea coffee snacks and drinks. And bathroom OK. The roof restaurant is a good venue to meet up with friends. I did not listen to the music artists playing there, but apparently it is a good venue for music It is a bit difficult being in city centre - if you want open windows its a bit noisy like any city

Wow, this really is Gorgeous George! Superb and attentive staff, great and spacious rooms with chic and modern design. And the breakfast, now that is a story on its own. The ale cart breakfast is superb, eggs cooked to perfection every day and proper barista style coffees. Excellent value for money. We will definitely be back!

A hotel who gives you a claustrophobic feeling. Noisy rooms. Staff at restaurant treats you as they feel. Breakfast is served in full when they like you , hardly when they don’t. I will never return and will make its publicity accordingly. You need to carry your proper bags for a 200 m as no direct entry from street. Nobody to help.

We had a suite in GG for 2 nights which was ok for such a short stay - any longer and it would have been challenge from a space perspective. The hotel isn’t in a good area and the entrance / reception isn’t great as there is no presence- it’s unassuming. The 6th floor area is quite nice however the the “pool” is tiny and there are only a handful of beds so I would plan on heading to the beach if you fancy a tan ! The team are “hip” and friendly but service is quite clunky and VERY slow . Breakfast was ok as was the snacks we ordered . Probably wouldn’t stay again .

We arrived today during the Tweede Nuwe Jaar celebration parade which meant access to the hotel was blocked. This left us stuck in traffic for 2 hours, GG (gorgeous george) did not respond to emails and being an overseas visitor I could not call on my network (I am of course solely to blame for this, but it doesn't make it right). We realised we were stuck, so one of us had to leave the car and walk to the hotel for information (did I say it was 30 degrees out). Thankfully one of the team were able to help navigate us to the parking, which would have been impossible for us a) to find and b) to get to, since it was behind an official parade blockade so you needed a member of staff to negotiate the opening of the barrier to let us pass. Once in the hotel there was little by the way of explanation as to why we had not been informed of the parade and given notice or direction to navigate the blocked roads (oh GG, this could have been so easy). We were offered consolation via a welcome drink, which we agreed to take at the bar once we had freshened up. The rooms are delightful. We headed to the roof, eager to sit by the pool but alas this was full, and all seating on the terrace was already reserved (yet empty). We opted to sit on the central couches. Comfortable and beneath the cooling mist. We waited a while for service and were welcomed by Nathan (we like Nathan). We enquired about the welcome drinks and were a little perplexed to hear that they were alcohol free cocktails. Read the room George, there is nothing gorgeous about sitting in 30 degree heat in CBD traffic desperately trying to get to your hotel where roof top pool and cocktails await. Alcohol free "juice" is not a welcome drink, it's a hot slap in the proverbials. So we politely declined the welcome drinks and ordered much needed alcohol based cocktails along with some snacks. Good stuff GG, now we are relaxing. So imagine how we are feeling now. A cocktail in and another on the way, putting the drama of the drive behind us and settling into our evening. We're having fun GG, its going to be a good night on the roof and we are here for it. But oh, spoke too soon... we've been politely asked to move as the seats we are settling into are also reserved. So now we must move inside... or to the seats that have recently been converted from loungers. What does it take GG to be treated like a guest of the hotel. Maybe reserve some seating for hotel guests so we can reap the benefit of what we have paid for... do I ask too much, are my requests too demanding? We'll head out shortly and leave room for your VIPs but perhaps I can offer a little advice. Communicate with your guests GG, tell them about parades that block all access to the hotel, tell them when they need to make a reservation to get a good seat on your well appointed and lets admit it - main attraction roof terrace. That's all it takes GG, a little bit of common courtesy. A small email that you can prepare in advance and share with arriving guests. Had you done that I wouldn't have to write this review. I really hope the bed is comfy!

0/10 - Check in desk - awful. Told we can “enjoy coffee on the roof for 4 hours to wait for room” Put our luggage in a hold room was promised they would be in our room when we came back. We arrived back 5 hours later - bags not in room. Had ordered champagne as we were on our honeymoon - wasn’t delivered or in room. Ended up canceling it. We would still be waiting for it. Quicker to drive to winelands… Called front desk - waited 30 mins for bags to be delivered. Room was nice. During the wait - decided to go to rooftop “pool deck” for drinks - ordered a margarita and a lager. 40 mins wait time. Warm beer. Margarita was great….. Had made dinner reservation - had two cocktails at the bar. Again pretty decent. Sat for dinner at 8.05 - waited 15 mins for menus. Ordered two drinks. Waited 15 mins. Ordered appetizers - waited 25 mins. Cheeseboard - basic. Cauliflower dish - basic. Ordered two more drinks - didn’t want to change drink order because of how long it would take to get menus etc. the couple next to us made the exact comment. Watched the drinks being made and passed by our server for roughly 10 mins. I ended up walking to collect them myself. Got our main course. A fish dish and steak. My wife got food poisoning - not an ideal end to our evening. Will never go again. Servers don’t know their product, how to be professional or timely. No personality. Should not be a restaurant - a place to grab a drink and spend an hour waiting to take a cool picture. I feel like you might read this and not believe me - I’m just not a good enough linguist to truly depict my disappointment at the Gorgeous George. Not Gorgeous.
