The hotel is FAB! The people, service, vibe and Gigi's is amazing (though I'd say that breakfast options and quality outweigh the lunch / dinner menu), though it was also very very good. The rooftop pool area is small - literally six sunbeds and though we were lucky and didn't have trouble spending time there, it was just that - luck. There's a 'lounge' on the first floor but it seems to only be used for organised weekend DJ / music type events so we didn't get to experience it. The small pool is really cool too. Weren't sure what to expect, particularly with the location of the hotel, which is on a pedestrianised street so there's no way to get dropped off or park directly outside. We knew this in advance but if you're arriving late it can be a bit disconcerting. The hotel do advise to call ahead and they'll meet you. Longmarket street is the closest to the entrance so get your uber to drop off there if possible. Walking through the city / )company gardens is a must) is fine during the day and there are loads of public security officials who are super helpful and them just being there give loads of reassurance. One actually proactively approached us to see if something had happened after we'd asked was it okay to walk around Bo Kap and then we changed our minds and came back 5 mins later. Nothing had happened at all we literally just decided to head for the V&A instead but the attention he gave was really appreciated. At night, it can be described as 'edgy', BUT simple rules, avoid walking anywhere and if you must don't walk aimlessly. Get Ubers, (black are best) be streetwise as you would be anywhere, and you'll be fine. We went to the most brilliant restaurant 'Kloof Street House'. It's such an experience - kind of like a house, our table was in the library etc, and the food is amazing. When we left there were literally lines of cars and taxis supporting that it's not only tourists who don't walk home. We were also pleased to see that pedestrianised area around the hotel - the uber which dropped us off on street further away (at 10.45pm) was well lit and there was a public security official walking around and Gorgeous George have security standing visible too. There are also a number of hotels very close to Gorgeous George, including the Holiday Inn directly across so it genuinely feels safe. The only iffy hotel issue we had was that our room, number 401, junior suite, had a noticeable 'drain' smell coming from the shower. It was quite bad but we put it down to the building being old and wasn't a cause to complain. In hindsight though we maybe should have made them aware given that it was notable enough for me to mention here - it required doors kept closed and we even put a cloth over the shower drain at one point. In summary though, we LOVED it. If you're hesitating - don't.!

Fabulous stay in a very spacious 2 bed suite at this really good looking hotel. All the staff - every one - were incredibly welcoming, cheerful, friendly, professional and couldn't do enough to help us enjoy our 6 night stay. The rooms were spotless, and had great amenities, including real china cups and saucers and loose leaf black tea. Amazing ! We loved GiGi on the roof for breakfast and dinner, and even had some room service a few times too. The food is excellent, as are the cocktails. Fresh, healthy, very generous, and everything served with charm and smiles. Whoever recruits at this hotel is doing a fantastic job. The pool is small, but very good looking, as is the sundeck, but, in our time there, there was never shortage of space or beds. This is a city centre hotel, so if you want a "flop and swim" holiday, this isn't the venue for you. The only downside to the hotel was the noise, a woman sings outside from around 11 - 6 each day, and it penetrates the double glazing, and it's just a noisy area at night, with people out and about and enjoying themselves. Again, if you're looking for a sense of space, calm, quiet and beauty, this isn't the hotel. That said taxis to the V&A cost around ÂŁ4 ! We were out and about every day and a few evenings too, and the size of and calmness in our suite was a welcome to return to. I highly recommend Gorgeous George, just be aware of the City centre location.

Great central location with a cool and trendy feel about it. Close to shops and a taxi ride away from all tourist attractions you will want to see in this fantastic city.
I was a bit nervous about being so central especially with the reviews on personal safety, but my advice is to take an Uber/taxi even for the shortest of journeys (our shortest was equivalent to a 5min walk). The hotel staff are always on hand to provide advice and offer assistance, always smiling and happy to help.
Our room was great with stunning decor and facilities. Surprisingly noise wasn’t an issue from outside or from neighbouring rooms.
The roof top restaurant and bar is great although don’t expect stunning views of mountain landscapes. Do however expect an excellent lunch and dinner menu that is cooked to perfection, washed down by some great wines and cocktails, all of which are very reasonably priced. Didn’t use the very small pool on the roof as it looked far too cold.
One gripe is the morning breakfast service. Rold breakfast is from 7am so we arrived exactly then. Unfortunately they weren’t prepared for visitors looking for a quick turnaround and we ended up after 30mins wait being given our cooked breakfast in a take-away box without any cutlery - needless to say it didn’t work, but I appreciated their attempt.
I’d happily go back and the experience would be even better if they were to address some minor issues.

Hip and trendy hotel in business district. Don't walk across the street in the dark, but I've never felt unsafe. The hotel was fantastic, the staff and restaurant were also top notch. In Cape Town, go up Table Mountain with a guide, use Uber Black, costs almost nothing but good cars and tour the city neighborhoods with a guide. Totally fun!

Great place, nice hotel but I wouldn’t recommend working there. I was called in last minute to engineer a Jazz gig in the Pink room. I got to the location and was asked to set up stage and strike all equipment.(which wasn’t part of the original agreement as it is a 4+ man job), however, I still did the job perfectly well. The show was smooth and there were no complaints from the band members or audience.
However, when i sent my invoice, I was told to decrease my rates and then told that the management was considering not paying me at all, based off the judgement of someone who wasn’t present at the event. I Found the finance manager Terrance Pearce to be the most unprofessional and rude person I’ve ever had to do business with. Its been 17 days since the job was done and I’ve yet to receive any payment or communication around the matter.
I strongly urge anyone who they book for sound in the Pink room to be very careful, the abuse of power is clear. If they have done it to me, most likely they have done it to other workers too. Please be Careful.

The vibe of the downtown area changes completely at night and there are lots of sketchy people around, so the valet parking right outside the hotel was such a nice bonus. The hotel is gorgeous and I appreciated all the little touches like the yoga mat in the room for example. We loved having breakfast on the rooftop every morning and every single dish was excellent! There was an issue with wifi for a few days and I was impressed with how the staff handled the inconvenience. Special shoutout to Nadia via email! Also there was a waiter (I think his name was Dan or Dave?) who offered to write out all of his recommendations for us, which I thought was so sweet and kind of him! Lusanda, Nic, and all the valet parking staff were so wonderful as well. Incredible customer service!

It is enjoyable staying at George - great location, and a very popular place for non-residents. Food was generally good, though over the 4 meals we had there, service was a bit mixed - some great, and some seemingly not trained in very much.
We stayed in a 2 bed apartment which was nicely done, but without the attention to detail needed - eg the industrial lamp next to the bed looked great, but you couldn't move it at all and it was a little inconvenient to get past it to get in and out of bed, and there was no bathroom light switch next to the bathroom. A lot of form over function.
On one night noise was a problem - I think from the first floor Pink Room (fine on the other night). It did stop around 12, but if you want to go to bed at half 10, it is not so good.
The restaurant floor has a very small pool area (6 sunbeds) with a very small pool. However, at about 6pm they change it to be the DJ booth and seating area........so not great for residents who wanted an early evening swim like we did.

Very cool hotel, with friendly staff, very good service and lots of nice, modern people (both guests and staff). The rooftop bar is obviously very popular in Cape Town and was always well attended. The food and drinks were always great and worth the money. The breakfast is highly recommended. The rooms are very well equipped and Netflix is included. The minibar is really great and the drinks are affordable. I have to take one star off though, because although the location is geographically great, the surroundings become very strange after 6 p.m. (nobody on the street anymore) and after dark we only got to and from the hotel by taxi or Uber.

Wonderful stay, 3 times already in two weeks. Don’t get fool with first impression of the lobby, wait until you get to the room. Amazing design, cozy, I feel I’m at home. Clean room and bed, nice shower and toilet with own branded amenities. After this stay, I confirm this boutique hotel are much much better than 5 starts hotel I wasted my money and time to stay. Staff all over the place, housekeeping, reception, resturant, even maintenance staff are all friendly and attentive. Rooftop restaurant is a real passionate, a life resturant, and excellent breakfast and food. Trust me, make this place your home when you come to Capetown, I promise you wont regret!!!
