The Silo Hotel is a magical space towering above the V&A Waterfront surrounded by the natural wonder of South Africa’s Mother City. The Silo has been built in the grain elevator portion of the historic grain silo complex occupying six floors above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA). Zeitz MOCAA is a contemporary art museum that rivals the likes of the Tate Modern in London, MoMA in New York and Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid. Zeitz MOCAA is a not-for-profit partnership between the V&A Waterfront and Jochen Zeitz, whose collection forms the Museum’s founding collection. The building has been designed by Thomas Heatherwick, Founder and Principal of the London-based Heatherwick Studio. Heatherwick Studio was tasked with the transformation of the elevator house and the adjacent storage annex of six rows of seven silos, while carefully retaining its cultural significance.

This is an amazing property! The rooms, architectural details, filled with vintage feeling furnishings, high ceilings, unbelievable views from all angles, makes this property one of our favorite hotels we have ever stayed in. The staff is amazing, especially the managers, who are wonderful and truly care about their guests and all of their needs.

Celebrated the birthday of my daughter at the Wisdom Room, and we have the best time. We were warmly welcome, the staff was super friendly and efficient, the deco was stunning and the food delicious. Thank you so much for all you have done to make this day a special and memorable occasion.

We visited the Silo as part of a trip to Cape Town. We have also been to La Residence (the other hotel of the Royal portfolio). It was my 40th birthday and definitely they made this occasion exceptional! From the moment you step in you are taken in a world of luxury, hospitality, art, amazing views and good food. The hotel is a museum within a museum with art that decorated every single room. The views from the hotel to Table mountain and the V&A waterfront are fantastic. Although have visited many luxurious hotels before, the staff are probably the best I have ever met and makes the difference. Louise, Jessica and Julien at reception, Fatima and all the staff are always willing to provide the best advice and guide you to whatever you need from restaurants to sightseeing. Breakfast is great with a wide range of choices while dinner is also fantastic with good options of South African wines. We stayed at the family suites which is spacious for 3-4 people, with a living room, 3 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms. Would definitely recommend for another visit!

The Silo Hotel is more expensive than most hotels in Cape Town but there’s a reason why this is the case. The location, the esthetics, the space plan, the room size, and the service all combine to make the value worth the price. Quite simply, it’s worth it. The hotel is a safe short walk to the heart of the V&A waterfront. The hotel has a sexy modern design. The rooms are comfortable. The bathroom is spacious and the shower water pressure is strong. The room had plenty of free items in the complimentary mini bar and there was always fresh fruit in the room. The service level is exceptional, particularly with the staff serving breakfast. In addition to warm breakfast options, each breakfast starts out with pasties, fruit, yoghurt, smoked salmon, and more. Their coffee is great. They make wonderful cocktails in the evening and their wine list is really strong, providing options for all price ranges. The Silo Hotel is a world class hotel. 5 stars.
