That was love at first sight from the beginning. The guesthouse not only impresses with its exelent location, where you can almost touch Table Mountain behind you and has the picture of Cape Town in front of you, no also the quiet location is exelent. All this is rounded off by the so helpful and loving hostess. It is a more than great Help center for visitors with so much tips and insider knowledge The rooms are an absolute dream, as is the entire small but very fine guesthouse. My next visit to Cape Town can and will only be possible here. Thank you Thania for an unforgettable stay

From the moment we entered the door, Tonia made us feel at home in this wonderful place. I would not hesitate for 1 minute to stay here again.
Location: Tafelberg guesthouse is located in a quiet street and we did feel very safe. We used our rental car to drive to the Tafelberg cable car, Lions head (you can see the hikers cars parked from the guesthouse), Signal Hill and Kirstenbosch gardens. For a visit to the waterfront we did use an Uber for about 40 ZAR one way which was incredibly convenient.
Check in: Very welcoming, friendly and efficient. Also during our stay, we got lots of useful tips to visit Cape Town.
Rooms: We stayed in the deluxe queen room number 7 and have no complaints at all. There is no generator but the load shedding times are communicated so you can plan accordingly.
Parking: We did like the safe of the road parking for our rental car.
Breakfast: Very nice breakfast with lots of fresh fruits outside on the terrace with views over Capetown

De Tafelberg Guesthouse located between Table Mountain and beautiful city of Cape Town. The area is in tranquil neighborhood of Oranjezicht. The room is clean and big with nice swimming pool and parking lot as well. The manager in charged, is a nice lady and very informative explaining about places that you can visit around Cape Town. They serve simple breakfast with free coffee/tea & cookies for 24 hours at dinning area. As for the view, you can see the Lion Head from here. There are lot of restaurants around this area. It's easy to use Uber everywhere.
Don't forget to see the Table mountains, the pinguins at Boulders beach, Bo-kaap(moslem village), V&A Waterfront and some other places. In overall, Cape Town is a very nice city to visit with great unfogettable experience.

The location of the De Tafelberg Guesthouse near Table Mountain with a view over Cape Town is excellent. Our comfort double room with a terrace right by the pool - which was of course covered and not in use in winter - was spacious and equipped with everything. The breakfast was excellent. The weather was sunny but unusually cool even for the winter season in South Africa, which often covered Table Mountain in clouds. This was of course not the responsibility of the accommodation! During our 3-week trip along the Indian Ocean, the weather rarely improved, and it was often cold and rainy. According to the South Africans, climate change has also reached them. It is therefore advisable to only go on holiday on the South African coast in the later spring - from the end of October / beginning of November.

I came here firstly in 2005 for a friend's wedding and stayed in room 7 looking over the city. This time back for a special occasion staying in the deluxe suite floor room 8. Breathtaking views of lions head, signal hill and the city from the room in 2 directions with table mountain at the end of the road. Owner and staff are so accommodating answering questions. As seasoned travellers this hotel is one of the best small hotels we have stayed at.Uber taxis around the town are so cheap and quick. Great italian restaurant nearby.. Highly recommended

The place itself is ok, with friendly staff, but the management / owners are terrible. We had booked for three nights there via a travel agency. Unfortunately, due to strikes at the Frankfurter airport, we were forced to cancel the first night, albeit with 48 hours' notice. The owner's insisted on a 100% cancellation fee in spite of 48 hours free cancellation being offered by them as a standard on booking.com and other reservation services. Failing to go anywhere with the local management who even lied into our faces, we wanted to talk to the owners, but they did not even want to talk to us. This completely spoiled the rest of our stay at this place.
Be warned if you want to stay at this place, they will screw you at the first opportunity.

After staying in this guesthouse in 2015 and 2016, we have now returned after 7 years. Although it is now a bit more modern, nothing has changed fundamentally. We appreciate the quiet location with a great view of Table Mountain and the bay. Good breakfast with a view of the bay, also on the terrace. It takes 10-12 minutes to get to the waterfront and 6-7 minutes to get to the old town center. Rooms are well furnished and bathrooms are very large.

Our stay at De Tafelberg Guesthouse in Cape Town was simply superb. The rooms provided a comfortable retreat during our final days in South Africa. Nestled in the tranquil neighborhood of Oranjezicht, the guesthouse offered stunning views of Table Mountain, adding an extra layer of charm to our stay.

Great guesthouse, nice and friendly owner, clean and comfortable room with a good bed. Good breakfast and a good location with a nice view on the city and on the Tafelberg. We got a free upgrade because it wasnt fully booked, this was a nice gesture too.
