The title says it all. We can only compare this hotel to San Pietro in Positano or Ballyfin Demesne in Ireland. It is unquestionably one of the best in the world. It was an incredible experience, start to finish. The view, grounds, complimentary sunset cocktails, restaurant...all incredible. We hope to return ASAP.

From the moment we arrived, it was like being a special guest in a luxury home. Informal, but great care and attention in every part of the experience. Lots of space to enjoy, even though the property was full. Lovely people, great hospitality and we will.

As frequent travelers, we felt most privileged to have stayed at Ellerman House. We were welcomed into a historic Edwardian home renovated and updated to the highest 21st century standards. Our suite overlooking the ocean was exquisite and included a large, well appointed patio. Throughout our seven night stay, we were treated as members of the owner’s family. Ellerman House has the largest collection of African artwork anywhere in the world—a tour by their in-house art expert is a must do. A wine tasting and tour in the the extensive wine cellar by the house sommelier were delightful and informative. The entire staff from reception to housekeeping was excellent and recognized us by name. The chef’s culinary talents were extraordinary...we never had a good reason to go elsewhere for dinner. Cape Town is the epicenter of world class South African wineries. The concierge staff arranged a day tour of several wineries, one of the highlights of our visit. Mr. Paul Bruce-Brand oversees all operations of Ellerman House. If there is a more accomplished general manager in the hospitality business, I don’t know who it would be. Our only regret was not planning a longer visit. H.V. McCoy
