The ambience at the Palace during meals is so lovely because of Robert the awesome pianist. He was super patient with my kid playing nursery rhymes and teaching him to play the piano which was a great touch! Keep going Robert, you were the highlight of our breakfast

We are very fortunate to come back to South Africa after 20 years and with our 15 year old for a 7 night stay. What a wonderful welcome. A few staff to mention... All the pool massage ladies.. Will miss you Nora The staff at Turks restaurant amazingly lovely The entrance security team House keeping Conceirge- so helpful Shuttle drivers Pianist - wow The person who checks your name upon you entering the pool area.. What a joy you are!! The breakfast serving team.... Please don't compare this hotel to the soulless chains that are the same everywhere. Yes it is a little frayed around the edges but take a close look at the amazing detail, and how unspoilt the landscape is. An amazing base to visit an amazing national Park. You DO wait for food etc but relax and enjoy the wonderful hospitality that is being offered, you are on holiday and be thankful you can afford to experience your stay. The staff travel by bus typically and work long hours. They are friendly, joyful and so helpful. Please be polite to them - please and thanku !!!!! South africa is struggling for tourism right now. Yes this is a resort but it feels safe. You have the water park next door, the game drives are magical, reasonably priced, and only a 5 minute drive away, zipline amazing. My only thing to mention is for Sun City Reservations to respond to client emails prior to stays. Thankyou and we wish you all well and good health.

We stayed in Cascades hotel which was amazing! We had a reason to celebrate, an anniversary, so decided to push the boat out. We booked at the the Grill Room at the Palace, which was the supposedly a high quality 5 star establishment. When arriving the restaurant was impressive, absolutely beautiful, unfortunately our food experience was awful. The restaurant was empty, so we expected no delays with food arriving. We ordered rump steak and fillet steak. We waited 45 minutes for food, despite the extremely quiet restaurant. When the food finally arrived what a disappointment! Rump steak was inedible it was so tough I really struggled to chew and swallow. The fillet steak was tasteless. Both meals were returned to the kitchen. The waitress didn't want to contact the manger and raised the complaint with the kitchen, we were offered complimentary deserts. "No thank you" not with another 45 minute wait. We had to specifically request to talk to the manager about the issue. When the manger arrived and we raised our complaint, surprisingly....they are aware there is an issue with the meat! To their credit the food was removed from the bill. But what a disappointing end to what was an amazing day on safari. We then went to Legends in the casino hotel and had amazing steak! Avoid the Palace grill room, it looks amazing but food is awful and the wait for food is unacceptable

Yet again an outstanding visit to the Palace of the Lost City, we visited in January 2024 and took our 3 small children with this time around. We all had the most amazing holiday. Upon arrival we were offered delicious Welcome Drinks and when we arrived in our room (escorted by the Housekeeping Floor Manager / Supervisor), we were blown away by the personal welcome card and treats left by the Palace Team. Bubbly for Mom & Dad and Kiddies Bubbly and Sweeties too! The HSK Supervisor made a point to ask us when would be our preferred service times daily as she knew we were traveling with children which we thought was a lovely touch. We had booked a Family room which had ample space for all of us. The sleeper couch was made up daily and the room was refreshed whenever we were out. One small niggle was that the amenities in the room was only for 4 however they knew we were a party of 5 but this definitely didn't affect our perfect holiday in any way. We made sure we went for breakfast early in the mornings to avoid the rush and breakfast was delicious every morning with a variety fit for a king! The Pianist stole the show every morning. He called the kids up to play alongside him and his passion is infectious! Poolside Cocktails were superb! Served with a friendly smile and also yummy! The shuttle service can be a bit slow at times particularly to the Vacation Club but once they knew we were there, they never hesitated to send a personal car around to collect us. Once again, WELL DONE PALACE TEAM!

We booked two junior suites and I enquired before arriving as to whether these could be close to each other. Initially I was told that there is only one junior suite per floor but on arrival we were greeted by Sherly and told that one of our rooms had been upgraded to a superior suite so we could be next to each other. The rooms were amazing and the complimentary wines and fresh fruit started our holiday off on a high that continued. Rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable and the palace itself is a sight to behold. Breakfast was fantastic, loads of options (they even had oysters one day) and the piano player was amazing (especially when he played his Beatles catalogue on Valentine’s Day - being from Liverpool this was quite a special moment). Yes you sometimes may need to wait for tea and coffee but don’t let that ruin the experience - just grab a sparkling wine while you wait :-) Sherly gave us a tour of the resort and was always around to help with reservations and transport. I’m so glad she showed us Shabeen as this was one of our favourite places - it was so relaxed, bbq food was great and entertainment was brilliant. She also recommended the grill room - I agree with other reviews that mention about a bit of a wait for the food but wow was the food worth the wait - it was amazing!!! Pool was really large and was quiet for most of the week until the weekend. Have to mention the amazing Shadrak who seemed to magic sun-beds from nowhere to make sure all the guests were comfortable with a bed and umbrella - it was 38 degrees and he did not stop all day!! So much to do on the resort - valley of the waves was great as was Hard Rock Cafe, Ocean Basket. Holiday exceeded our expectations and we can’t wait to return!

Hotel claims to be 5 star but it’s probably a large 4 star compared to worldwide standards. Just having come from Four Seasons Johannesburg there’s no comparison. General staff are friendly if a little slow at service. General Manager Nico very welcoming for the conference guests but didn’t deal effectively with a complaint we had with raw chips in their fine dining grill. Great place to visit Pilanesberg but Shepards Tree Lodge wins hands down for service as a local comparable. More a family with children type of resort but not cheap.

Just visited for the first time and for a five star hotel I was shocked by just how appalling the staff were . Uninterested disengaged and with no focus on customer care . The 7 staff in the Tusk bar were abysmal, average wait to be served 10mins even when empty . Never have I witnessed such profound laziness , all work at same speed - dead slow . As for the reception staff , accused me of not paying when sitting on a coach to leave with my fully paid bill in hand . I will certainly never return and I would recommend picking any other resort hotel on earth before anything in Sun City . Secondly , facilities in the hotel very limited with very little amenities and no real atmosphere.

I have been going on holiday to Sun City my whole life, but this was my first time at the Palace. It is truly a spectacular venue. The staff were all friendly and helpful upon check-in, and our room was great. The beds were extremely comfortable, to the point where I checked the brand name to keep in mind for when I upgrade my bed at home. The breakfast was great, with a lot of wonderful options for every taste. I was impressed with Sun City as a whole, I can see that everything has been upgraded since last time I was there a few years ago, and everything at the resort is in great condition. I wish I could have stayed longer and will definitely look to planning a family trip in the future. Just two things I must mention that weren't so great: the Grillroom was out of stock of a lot of the meals we would have liked to order the night we ate there. The food also took a long time to arrive, although it was good when it did. Then the other thing is the use of the Valley of the Waves. They have closed the access to the Roman Baths from the Palace, which causes a huge inconvenience to having to walk all the way around. The Palace also does not supply swimming towels. As a Palace guest I was appalled that I was forced to pay to use a sub-standard towel down at the Valley, given what I am paying for a room. As a comparison, we went to a 4 star hotel in Cape Town right afterwards, and they had no issue in giving us beach towels to use. Raising this with the staff didn't elicit a response other than "sorry". It's annoying to see Hotel guests using Hotel towels at the Valley, but Palace guests get treated like day visitors.
