If you want a place to stay in comfort but in the bush experience I strongly recommend the chalets in Bakgatla. The chalets are designed on the edge of the resort so that you can hear all the sounds of the wild at night. The chalets are self-catering but everything you need is there. The fridge worked very well wich... More

Third time camping at Bakgatla (Feb 2016), and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Sure, it was out-of-season and not as packed as holidays would be, but the ablutions and scullery (we camped on the electrified tent sites, and used ablution block 4) were spotless and seemed newly renovated, with all fittings and trimmings fully functional. The staff were all friendly... More

Our chalet was neat and clean. It was equipped with the necessary appliances and crockery to make your stay comfortable. The braai area hidden beneath the trees and next to the shrubs created the perfect ambience for a stay in the bush. It is an older camp, so if you expect luxury, bells and whistles, the better option will be... More

The resort while well situated within the Pilanesberg Game reserve is old and out dated. The cost of the self catering rooms are much higher than they should be at around R1500 per night for 2 people. The rooms are at best basic with dirty bed linen and tears in the sheets. The restaurant is average with your run of... More

We had extremely noisy neighbours till the early hours of the morning whilst at Bakgatla which was handled extremely poorly by management (their solution was to move us, not the trouble makers). I had to get up thrice during the night to get security to do something about it. The trouble makers had day visitors visiting until 2am, too many... More

We went camping here for our anniversary. It was out of season and is a lot quieter than Manyane camp which is catered more for families. Staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to help us, including maintenance, restaurant and front staff. Getting into the pilansberg park is a breeze as the gate is just next to... My friends and I stayed here for two nights in January and thought it was excellent. We booked an executive safari tent and it was excellent! What a luxurious way to 'camp'. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A fantastic experience and a great place to stay and encounter everything that Pilanesberg had to offer.

We booked for Easter 2015 with my daughters and grandchild expecting a wonderful Easter experience. The staff are very helpful and accomodating BUT the accomodation was shocking.NO water for the weekend , so we cut our stay short. The place looked unkept , the chalet was lacking crockery and cutlery, kettle did not work etc.I would not recommend staying there until the... Stayed in our timeshare chalet and had a good rest. We saw plenty of big game and wonderful animals and scenery on our daily trips from the Bakgatla Resort to the various water holes. The country side cries out for rain. Hope they had some in the meantime. We had no problems during our stay in our chalet with water... More

This is the 3rd time we have stayed in the Bakgatla chalets (5 sleeper). It appears as if there have been a few improvements since the last time we stayed, but they are still disappointing, especially for the price. We paid almost R2600 for the night! Breakfast (quite good) is included - I am not sure why since the chalets... More
