Hodge Podge is against the Magaliesburg Mountain. All the rooms are well furnished and clean. The bar is great and the communal kitchen is ideal for any cook. The swimming pool is the right place for summer and the hospitality is of excellence. They will move a mountain for any backpacker. If you love nature, this is the place to be. Groups are welcome.

We wanted to spend some time in sun city but didn’t want to pay the high hotel fees and we found this affordable location less than an hour from sun city. Friendly owners that made us feel incredibly welcomed, clean rooms with comfortable beds and bathrooms insuite with a fridge. We slept peacefully all 4 nights without any noise. Lots of friendly dogs around and if your lucky you’ll get to meet ozzy. Definitely coming back here. You’ll get a private cottage for the best price and I believe there is camping here too

We booked 2 nights to stay at Hodge Podge for a work team retreat. On our first night 2 of our cabins were broken into. Some people used chairs to climb through the windows and stole cellphones, handbags, clothes and shoes (stuff to the value of about R40,000) . Obviously we were concerned and instead of the owners of the property understanding the impact of what had happened they turned it around and tried to blame our team for stealing from ourselves. In truth the property is incredibly unsecured. One can easily step over the boundary fence, the cabins are not secured, there is insufficient lighting and there were no warnings to keep valuables locked in cars or on us. We were then treated with terrible disrespect and rudeness by the owners. Eventually we got less than half of our money back, but left being blamed for the robbery and truly shocked at the terrible customer service we received.

Typical backpackers. Place is neat and clean. Family run setup. Hosts are friendly and hospitable. Hidden away in the mountains. About half kilometre of dirt road to the venue which is not great. Wide open lawns with a swimming pool.

Overall excellent value for money weekend or long option. The cabins were basic but clean and well situated. Just had a bit of an issue with the owner's dogs that were present at our site for periods of time.

We stayed over with a large group of friends. The owners offered to do a lamb on the spit with traditional South African pap & gravy. We're always a quite negative with lamb on a spit as most people mess it up. However, this lamb was most certainly one of the better ones. Log cabins are OK, but needs improvement
