Stopover on our way to Kruger Park, this old resort was a real deal back in the day, specially over school holidays, now however it seemed a bit forgotten and the main guests occupants are groups from certain political party conferences and followers thereof. although functional for the most part we didnt wine or dine at the resort.

We had an 8 bed chalet with 7 people occupying it for 5 days. The accommodation was top class and was serviced to our satisfaction each day. The highlight of our stay was the appearance of a hippo towards evening quietly grazing right next to our veranda. Being a family which uses many electronic devices, iy was just a pity that wifi was not available in the chalet.

I had the privilege to recently visit Sanbonani for my birthday week. Everything at this resort works! The maintenance of the huge, beautiful gardens is immaculate with water wise plants and carefully planned landscape outlay. All units face the two rivers, the Sabie and Sand rivers, which are the borders of the resort on 2 sides. Take a leisurely stroll alongside the rivers. Be on the lookout for Crocodiles and Hippos though. They are busy refurbishing all the units. Even though ours is still the old type, it was immaculate and very comfortable. We had a damaged microwave, which they replaced within the hour. Also received a complimentary back massage at their Spa which was heavenly! The Spa is professional and highly recommended!! Sanbonani is one of the best resorts we have ever visited and comes highly recommended. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: ON TUESDAYS YOU ADVERTISE A FAMILY WILD WALK at 09:00. As advertised: "Take a walk with a guide around the Resort and learn about trees, plants and the animals you find." We were 3 people who made the effort to arrive on time. Because we were 'too small a group', we were given a piece of paper with marked trees and a list of birds 'to explore ourselves'. I'm sorry, but we found this unprofessional as the effort could have been made to accommodate the 3 eager people wanting to do the walk. This was quite disappointing!! We had a similar experience at another resort where only 2 of us was still taken on their advertised walk.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and really appreciate the feedback. With regard to the walk on behalf of the staff member I apologise for lack of enthusiasm and unprofessional behaviour, I know that we will do the wild walk for one or more guests. Kind Regards Agnes

Sanbonani is a well kept resort. Self-catering chalets are comfortable and cleaned daily. Those along the river are nice. The swimming pool is a hit amongst young and old and various activities are available to stay busy and these are at either no extra cost or a small fee is charged. Apparently there is a bowling green, but clearly this has not been maintained and I would say is non-existent. The resort gardens are well kept and a walk around the property is recommended. This was my second stay and will certainly revisit if given the opportunity. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly.

Thank you for taking the time to rate the Resort Hotel & Spa and your kind words - the one lane Bowling green is for recreational purposes only and is not maintained as a bowling green, there is an obstacle course for the fitness fanatics to challenge themselves. On behalf of the Team, we thank you and look forward to welcome you back in the near future to "The Jewel of the Lowveld" Kind Regards Resort Manager
