Wanted to say how much we enjoyed our visit here for lunch. The view from the restaurant is superb...especially when we got to see the elephants across the bridge. On a previous visit we were lucky enough to witness two male hippos fighting in the river. The food here has always been good although unfortunately they no longer serve antipasta which was...

A lovely relaxing hotel in beautiful grounds. We had a first floor room overlooking one of the swimming pools, and it was easy to access the dining room and bar. The food was delicious and not expensive given its quality and the menu choices. The staff were friendly and helpful, and a bonus was watching the hippos and crocodiles in...

Rooms were spacious and clean with plenty of hot water. We were provided with breakfast boxes on two mornings as we were due to leave to go on safari at the Kruger at 5.15am – both days chicken sandwiches were included – in that heat!! – I left mine. However following this a number in our party had stomach upsets....

This hotel really was a good value. Nice large well decorated chalets that offer charm, privacy and luxury all in one. The grounds are gorgeous, the pool is sublime, and the lodge is nice to eat, drink or work. The food was great for the money, which was not expensive and pretty tasty for a lodge out here. The service...

Rooms good but only 1 easy chair in a double room. Food good and plenty of it. They also provide breakfasts to take to Kruger. Try the ostrich carpaccio. Swimming pool good and not over chlorinated. Shortage of loungers, though.

We had a riverside bungalow & were blown away from the moment we arrived. Reception was excellent providing a welcome drink as you arrive & we got into our bungalow, opened up the door onto the balcony to be greeted by a heard of Elephant just the other side of the river less than 50m away! We could have sat...

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. It brings us great joy knowing that you received such warm and friendly service from the word go, not only from our caring staff but also from the gentle giants across the river. From the moment we arrived ( 1 local and 2 overseas guests, travelling on business) staff were courteous and friendly. Accommodation was perfect. Clean, spacious very comfortable and quiet. Restaurant food was excellent in quality and quantity with a limited but well appointed menu. There is an added plus in that you can often seen Hippo " dining" on the...

We stayed here with our South Africa Riviera tour and it was an idyllic place to begin a wonderful holiday. The string of the hotel is perfect and we watched kingfishers as we ate breakfast. Do rake binoculars to breakfast as you never know what you might see. The food was very good especially the buffet, the rooms were comfortable...

Tip No. 1: stay for as long as you possibly can. Our two night sojourn with most of the time spent in nearby Kruger wasn't long enough to take advantage of this restful, scenic location. Tip No. 2: see Tip No. 1. A very welcome cool drink introduced us to this lush, beautifully landscaped tropical setting housing thatched cottages and...

We were booked into Hippo Hollow as a part of a South Africa/Riviera Travel tour - and it was a fabulous three night stay. For visiting the Kruger National Park, it is near the Phabeni Gate and not too far from the Panorama Route. Staff, food, facilities all excellent - and, yes, we saw hippos on the grass lawned area...
