After our first enjoyable stay in July 2016 we revisited Rissington in February 2017 en route to Kruger NP. Again a most pleasant stay with very good food and wine. We will be back soon!

We recently stayed at Rissington Inn and loved it! But we only stayed there for one night on our way to our 4 night Safari. And I would actually recommend looking into staying in Kruger or another private reserve. You can't beat the experience of actually sleeping in the bush! We stayed at an amazing place called Nthambo Tree Camp! This place is unreal! And it's affordable too! Drinks and food are included and the staff is AMAZING! There are only about 6 'cabins' set up high at tree level and are awesome! The tracker and guides are the best in the area and Isaac is probably one of the best trackers in the country! He is often being recruited to other places for his skill and knowledge of the wild life but he loves Nthambo and don't think he will ever leave. It was our favorite place we stayed during our entire trip which partially has to do with the setting but the entire staff, food and accommodations has a lot to do with it as well! From beginning to end it was an incredible experience. There are no fences etc so you are in the midst of the bush where wild animals roam through the grounds! We saw a cheetah make a killing right outside our room and elephants came right up to the pool for some refreshing water as we ate dinner about 10 feet away! You have a guide/tracker that escorts you to and from your room at night but during he day you are fine to walk back and forth with no escort...needing an escort just makes it that much more exciting and the stars are amazing!
Staying in the bush aslo allows you to have more safaris. You have a wake up call at 5am for your first safari then you can do an afternoon walk with a guide through the bush and finally another safari in the evening. It's amazing! You won't get the same experience staying that far away at Rissington but don't get me wrong, RIssington is awesome as well! We loved everything about our stay there and was perfect for our one night. We would go back but to get the full experience of a safari I HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying in the bush. Check out Nthambo Tree Camp.
Hope this helps...
