The location of this africamps is nice. However, we were not really prepared for the lack of ’‘service’. We hadn’t been informed that we needed to book meal packages before we arrived. So, when we got there at 4 we had no supplies or food. No manager on site. The other guests also didn’t know where the reception was. There was a number we could call but our phone had no network reception. We sort of raided the honesty shop but there was no bread left or butter for breakfast. Closes town was 16k. We wanted to book a massage and it said ‘book at reception’ but no one knew where it was or when somebody would be there. Location itself is beautiful, but the lack of screens at the bathroom windows is odd and the fridge seems very small if you are there for a few days with 3-4 persons. If you come prepared this is great place, especially for kids.

Thank you for your review Sophie we are glad you enjoyed the location and setting of the camp. AfriCamps at Mackers is a self-catering camp and all our locations are promoted as self-catering. After reading your review, it seems that the necessary information may not have been communicated via your booking platform. We would love to know which website you used to make your booking so we can rectify the issue in communication and improve on the information provided. Will you please send us an email to hello@africamps.com? It will be much appreciated. As this is a self-catering camp, we do not have a reception area like you would find in a hotel. Our shop works on an honesty system and the welcome books in our tents provide all the necessary information. We are sorry to hear that you could not make contact with our hosts due to poor network connection as they are always happy to assist where they can. We hope you will return to one of our 9 locations. All the camps have slightly different facilities and some locations do have on-site restaurants.
