The very prestigious Abangane Guest Lodge is located on a 22 hectare portion of the original “Farm de Rust” situated on the Sabie Road in Hazyview. Since opening, Abangane Guest Lodge continues to maintain its exclusive 4 star environment. The Lodge is highly regarded for its peaceful, tranquil surroundings and its ability to provide the highest quality of service. Guests marvel at the sheer expanse of the luscious surrounding bushveld, picturesque gardens, panoramic views across the valley, the majestic mountains in the distance and the promise of a glorious sunset. Abangane is an exceptional and exclusive lodge. At sunrise and sunset Zebras, Impalas, Giraffes and many more can be seen grazing on the neighboring private game farm. The sparkling blue infinity pool with its breathtaking view over the valley adds to the serene ambiance. Nighttime is magical with lanterns that invite you for a walk through the lush gardens while you take in the sounds of the evening. Most evenings you will be blessed with the haunting cry of the Fish Eagle heard high above the hilltops. Abangane Guest Lodge is the ideal gateway to the famous Kruger National Park. Three access gates are located nearby, the closest being the Phabeni Gate reachable within a leisurely 15 minute drive. The Blyde River Canyon with the famous God’s Window and other spectacular attractions are easily accessible from Abangane Lodge. All just a day trip away. Some of the best restaurants in the area are a short drive from the Lodge as well as a comprehensive, well equipped shopping centre a mere 2 km away. Discerning travelers will find quick access to most amenities and resources they may require. A wholesome continental or full English breakfast can be enjoyed in the Lodge dining room or on the open veranda. The abundant birdlife welcomes in the day as you plan your activities over freshly brewed coffee or tea. After a day of adventure and wonderment you are welcome to relax and enjoy a sundowner poolside, or relax under the gazebo in our tranquil surroundings. Should you not feel like dining out a delicious candlelight dinner could be prepared for you. This would be by prior arrangement.

Detailed Reviews
This is one of the best B&B we have stayed iron our visits to SA where standards are high. The room was spacious with nice furnishings, an excellent large comfortable bed with a mosquito net that was not at all claustrophobic being far from the face and body on a fixed frame, All amenities were present in the room. The bathroom was beautiful clean with nice effective shower, two basins and shaving mirror etc. Lovely home made cakes were made available each day and the honesty bar was excellent. The grounds were beautifully kept, peaceful with excellent views over the hills and academia fields. Host was friendly, informative and highly professional

We made a trip from Jo'burg wanting to spend some time in the KNP before travelling on to a timeshare week elsewhere in Mpumalanga. We stayed at Abangane for 2 nights and found it to be a delightful, peaceful haven and superb value for money. Conveniently, it is only approx. 15 minutes drive from the Phabeni Gate of the KNP during non-peak hours.
In addition, Margrit, the owner, is extremely hospitable and shows attention to detail with little touches that make the experience wonderful. As we left for a very early morning start on one day she made brunch hampers and even baked special banting bread and cake responding to one of our party's special dietary requirements. The following day we had a lovely leisurely breakfast on the outdoor patio/pool area. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet and the swimming pool a welcome relief after a hot day in the KNP. We would definitely return to this oasis of peacefulness when our travel plans again bring us to the area.

We spent a wonder 3 nights at this awesome guest lodge. Margrit is an amazing host, she is attentive and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. There is complementary cake, a different type every day, and they were all divine. The pool is kept clean and the water nice and warm. The owner also assisted us with booking a KNP safari, that was the highlight. It was an enjoyable stay.
On the downside, it was quite humid while there and while the air conditioning unit works, it took a bit of time before the room was cool. I also found the pillows a little worn out and not as firm as I would have liked.

My husband and I took a respite at Abangane Lodge for 3 nights while in between Safari Lodges. Wow, is all I can say! Such a beautiful retreat... amazing gardens, pool, and hospitality! The breakfast was to die for, and felt so relaxed while over-looking the magnificent groves of Macadamia Nut Trees from the lovely and welcoming patio. Our room was spacious, cozy and very clean. We had a terrific sleep in the luxurious king bed. The honest bar was well utilized and was a great touch of convenience.
What was good and bad for us... good - we were the only ones there, bad - we felt terrible that Covid has limited tourism, and I would highly encourage putting this lovely Guest Lodge on your list of places to stay while in the area. It is so worth it if looking for a retreat to simply relax, a home base for seeing the Blyde River Canyon and surrounding waterfalls, or for day tripping to Kruger National Park.
Thank you Margrit for your generosity and sharing your beautiful home with us... amazing!!

This is a very special place, offering spacious and tasteful accommodation, with an infinity pool overlooking a valley, providing a great vista whilst taking a relaxing swim.
The breakfast was very good indeed, everything from cereal, cooked and continental breakfast options. The owner bakes fresh cakes everyday to have in the afternoon which was a lovely touch.
The owner was very knowledgable about the area and provided great advice and what to visit when.
We would definitely stop at Abangane on future trips to Hazyview/Kruger area.

Abangane Guest Lodge sits between the Panoramic Route to Blyde River Canyon and 3 access gates to Kruger National Park. The closest gate being about 10-15 minutes away.
The guest lodge sits looking over spectacular scenery of the nearby valleys with mature gardens and pool to enjoy the views.
There are 5 suites with a covered outdoor terrace and outdoor seating and loungers around the pool.
The rooms have tea and coffee facilities with cafetieres and local speciality Sabie Valley coffee (nice touch). The toiletries are nice too with a range by Kalahari which, again, was nice. Breakfast was from 8am and should absolutely not be missed (seriously). A blend of the best of both worlds. An a la carte (cooked to order) and a buffet with fruit, breads, jams, meats, cheeses nut butters (including macadamia butter). Cereals, breakfast cakes and much more. A great start to the day.
Abangane was very easy to stay in and Margarit is very knowledgeable and offered some solutions for local activities too. Great and enjoyable stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Abangane for 4 nights and had the most wonderful time! The property is located in a very quiet and peaceful place with a beautiful view which made us feel very relaxed. There is a bit of a bumpy dirty road to get to the property so I would recommend traveling with a 4x4. Margariet was always very kind and helpful and baked fresh cakes daily for afternoon tea which were delicious! The rooms are large and very clean and the breakfast was fresh with many options to choose from. We would definitely stay here again every time we’re in the area!

We stayed in the lodge with the family for 4 days and had a wonderful holiday. All 4 rooms were very spacious and everyone was able to relax wonderfully. A very tasty breakfast was served in the morning and in the evening we were able to enjoy wine at very reasonable prices. Starting with various restaurant recommendations, we were also able to book our safaris directly (Elephant Herd *****). It worked perfectly.
Magda was a wonderful host - she and her team made sure we had an unforgettable stay.

Recently stayed at Abangane . The lodge is lovely with nice clean bedrooms. Bed was extremely comfortable with nice bedding.
One recommendation- rooms are quite dark and extra lighting on the vanity unit would help greatly when applying makeup/ drying hair.
The gardens and pool area are beautiful.
Margrit the host was friendly and very helpful. She even baked a cake daily for afternoon tea. Delicious.
Breakfasts were scrummy.
The lodge is well situated being a short distance to Hazyview itself where there are shops and restaurants.
Would definitely stay again.
Highly recommended.
Thank you for the complimentary upgrade to the honeymoon suite- much appreciated.
Best wishes Jean & Robert
