This was our first safari experience. We recently stayed for a week and had the best time. The staff were outstanding at every turn and we felt as though we were welcomed into their Nungubane family. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for them, without exception. The food was delicious and the accommodation was secluded, spacious, very clean and well... More

Beautiful lodge, really friendly staff, excellent food. Chalets were spotless, great views, very comfortable beds and a fireplace for the cooler evenings. Saw loads of interesting animals on the game drives. Elephants, lions, lots of white rhino, buffalo, giraffes, hippo, cheetah out hunting impala. I cannot recommend this place enough! All the staff were great, looking forward to going back... More

This is a small quiet lodge in the Welgevonden game reserve; but, great for a peaceful getaway, and not too far from Johannesburg. The game rangers are wonderfully knowledgeable and open to many questions. Viewing of smaller game is excellent. We were lucky enough to see a cheetah on the hunt... The staff are friendly, accommodating, and give you just... More

Convenient and comfortable getaway. Close to JHB (3hr drive). Staff was great, Skye the ranger and manager was excellent at hosting with great knowledge of the reserve. The only thing better than Livingstone the chef's food was his great character.

Easy drive from Gauteng on good roads - shaded parking at Welgevonden West Gate. Skigh picked us up and the game viewing started on the 35 minute drive to the Lodge. All the staff turned out to personally welcome us with hot hand towels and welcome drinks. What lovely friendly and enthusiastic welcome we had - put us in a... More

We took our son and his new wife to Nungabane for 2 nights. It was her first visit to SA and her first experience of the bush, wildlife and game drives. We all had a wonderful time, the lodge is small, the rooms are beautiful and pretty private from one another. The staff were incredibly friendly and Livingstone and Anna... More

We stayed at Nungumbane Lodge for 3 nights and had a wonderful time there. Food was great and we especially enjoyed our gamedrives with Josphat and his stories and facts about the animals we saw. It was amazing to see a cheetah being chased by baboons and we were glad Josphat turned out to be an elephant whisperer when two... More

So we arrive at Welgevonden and within 20 minutes we witness what many only get to see on David Attenborough docos. Our amazing guide Josefat spots a cheetah mother and her two cubs. We follow them a short distance and then we notice the mother eyeing a group of unsuspecting impalas. She calls quietly to her cubs who instinctively know... More

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at Nungubane Game Lodge in March 2016. It is an amazing place - the staff are so welcoming and friendly, and the facilities are beautiful. We saw so much on our game drive, and it is a much more intimate setting than at the larger parks. Our guide Josephat was extremely knowledgeable... More
