Pafuri should be on your list if you enjoy nature, the Kruger and like Hospitality with a capital H. Great tents, beautifully situated in the Kruger and along a river (still water) and nice game. Enjoy the food, the gamedrives, the scenery and the great guides that turn your stay into a pleasant one. Do visit Crooks Corner and Lanner... More

We did not actually stay at the main luxury camp, but in a tented camp right in the bush. The rangers(Michael and Biff) looked so well after us, and an incredible in-depth knowledge of the veld. They taught us such beautiful and wonderful things about the wild, an taught us a new appreciation of wildlife and conservation. We couldn't believe... More

We flew to Pafuri Camp from Grand Central Airport Johannesburg landing on the lodges air strip. Pafuri Camp is situated along the Luvuvu River at the far northern extremity of the Kruger Park. Accommodation consists of 19 luxury tents looking onto the beautiful river. An abundance of game is found in the river bed and in truth one could stay... More

The spacious tent on a platform facing the river below presented a great viewing site. Wild animals (below the elevated walkways) added to the bush experience. Totally unexpected was the great quality of the food here in the bush. There were many different animals around. However, if you want to see the Big 5 in one or two days, this... More

We were very fortunate to spend 2 nights at Pafuri Private Camp. Our second visit after 10 years. It is situated on the Luvuvhu River in an area one can only call paradise! The location of the tented accommodation is very secluded and one feels that you are totally on your own. The excellent accommodation is well thought out and... More

It's unusual to me to write a negative review. But though this lodge has several plus, it left us a little disappointed. The lodge itself is undoubtedly beautiful. We loved the location and our family tent was really nice, big and very confortable. No complain about the food, which was really good. The general atmosphere is not as friendly as... More

We returned to Pafuri Camp after 10 years, as this had been on our bucket list. It was as good as we remembered it! The peace and tranquility that one gets when being there is unsurpassed. The charm of the tented accommodation, which is well secluded from the other tents is part of the magic. When you sit on your... More

Pafuri Camp is blessed with the best location we have experienced in many years of annual safaris between Madikwe and Kruger. The view from all the luxurious tented rooms and public areas over the river is amazing with regular visits from a variety of game. The game drives combine magnificent views (Cooke's Corner is not to be missed) with great... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Pafuri Camp lies along a bend of the Luvuvhu River shaded by enormous jackal and nyala berry trees. Its 19 tents are en-suite under thatch with indoor and outdoor showers. The main area, with its large deck, open-sided lounge dining room and swimming pool, is perfect for relaxing and watching the wildlife drawn to the Luvuvhu to drink. The colourful fabrics reflect the culture of the Makuleke community with whom Return Africa has partnered. The Makuleke Concession is explored through a variety of activities, ranging from game drives in open vehicles to walks and trails and ideally complements the scenery, experience and game viewing. The Pafuri Walking Trail exploration is the ideal way to experience the spectacular, private Makuleke Concession of the northern Kruger National Park. It is perhaps the best area for walking in the entire Park and is blessed not only with exceptional biodiversity but also spectacular scenery, seasonally high densities of many large mammal species, a feeling of wilderness and remoteness, and a sense of history. Using one campsite as a base, each day is spent in different parts of the 26 500-hectare concession, walking along the pathways made over the years by its animal inhabitants and following their tracks. Undoubtedly the most remote and wild walking experience in South Africa, with a huge diversity of habitat, wildlife and birdlife. Experienced, knowledgeable and passionate guide walks with the guests throughout. Private access to the concession with no impact of vehicles. On-foot tracking experiences, big game viewing and outstanding birding. An exclusive and remote camp location. Access into the legendary Lanner Gorge basin and the mystic Limpopo fever tree forest. The season operates from 01 April to 31 October, with departures every Monday and Friday. ... more   less
