We booked out the entire trails camp for our family. Everything from start to finish was just incredible. Our Ranger Daniela with her back up Calvin, were amazing. Daniela has a huge depth of knowledge of the bush, eco systems, birds etc. Calvin is going to be a great ranger! They both had a great way with all of the... More

Having been a very regular visitor to Pafuri, under it's previous management, I was very keen to revisit one of my favourite places in Africa. I was very happy to find the camp had not changed to the extent that I had expected. The required changes made, if anything, have improved the overall layout. Many of the staff were familiar... We spent three nights on the walking trail which was really fantastic - probably the best experience I've had in Africa. Incredible and varied scenery, superb guiding, an authentic bush camp to come back to and an overall sense of real wilderness. We then had a final night at Pafuri Camp which, as someone who works in the travel industry,... More

Twenty luxury tented rooms on the edge of the beautiful Luvuvhu River each secluded from the rest and with a private deck to watch the daily progressions of a wide array of mammals, birds and reptiles through the water and riverine trees. One of the best weekends I have ever enjoyed. This special gem ticks all the boxes; some of the most beautiful bushveld I have ever seen. The staff were all wonderful people; helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and the small touches such as hot water bottles just added so much charm to an already very special stay.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Pafuri Camp lies along a bend of the Luvuvhu River shaded by enormous jackal and nyala berry trees. Its 19 tents are en-suite under thatch with indoor and outdoor showers. The main area, with its large deck, open-sided lounge dining room and swimming pool, is perfect for relaxing and watching the wildlife drawn to the Luvuvhu to drink. The colourful fabrics reflect the culture of the Makuleke community with whom Return Africa has partnered. The Makuleke Concession is explored through a variety of activities, ranging from game drives in open vehicles to walks and trails and ideally complements the scenery, experience and game viewing. The Pafuri Walking Trail exploration is the ideal way to experience the spectacular, private Makuleke Concession of the northern Kruger National Park. It is perhaps the best area for walking in the entire Park and is blessed not only with exceptional biodiversity but also spectacular scenery, seasonally high densities of many large mammal species, a feeling of wilderness and remoteness, and a sense of history. Using one campsite as a base, each day is spent in different parts of the 26 500-hectare concession, walking along the pathways made over the years by its animal inhabitants and following their tracks. Undoubtedly the most remote and wild walking experience in South Africa, with a huge diversity of habitat, wildlife and birdlife. Experienced, knowledgeable and passionate guide walks with the guests throughout. Private access to the concession with no impact of vehicles. On-foot tracking experiences, big game viewing and outstanding birding. An exclusive and remote camp location. Access into the legendary Lanner Gorge basin and the mystic Limpopo fever tree forest. The season operates from 01 April to 31 October, with departures every Monday and Friday. ... more   less
