The Satara rest cams has to us probably the best location out of all rest camps. This was our second time and the sightings around did not disappoint!!We saw lots of lions (road s100 & s41) and other animals. We talked to another couple and they saw cheetahs on the same road several times, unfortunately,we were not so lucky. What...

Beautiful game viewing area with open plains and Big 5 territory. Our huge 6 sleeper bungalow D76 was awesome. Camp needs to renovate pool and keep pool and play area mowed and neat. Camp needs to put signs up warning guests of the serious devil thorn problem on every grassed area.

Due to the quality of the game viewing in the area, the camp is always full to capacity. The rondawels we stayed in had an attractive braai area in the form of a mini-lapa. The maintenance however was an issue. Peeling paint in the bathroom and air conditioner not working. Gardens not well maintained and service in the reception slow.A grand old...

We love the Kruger Park, and this year decided to stay at different camps. Satara is well located, but we were most surprised about the run down and uncared for appearance of the camp, as well as our accommodation. The 2 bedroom accommodation was certainly a good size and comfortable, with 6 beds in total. But the lock on the...

Although large we actually enjoyed Satara. We saw heaps of lions on the way up and had a magnificent leopard siting on the road. Would recommend it as it is central and you will see the big five. The accomodation is fenced off but there is a lot of bird life and we also saw an African Wild cat who...

Our family visited December 2016, peak season. The camp is huge with about 700 units in 7 large circles and caravan park. You do not feel that you have neighbours all around. Accommodation is basic, but clean and tidy and in the traditional rondavel style huts, small but with sufficient shade outside seating. There is a small swimming pool to cool...

This place appears to have been a fantastic place back in the day, but it hasn't really been updated since. It was still a nice base to explore Kruger, and I would stay here again. We traveled here with a large group of 15 in January of 2016. We stayed in the huts, as well as the Wells Guest House....

We stayed 2 nights at Satara Camp, great location to enjoy Kruger, lots of cats in this area, we saw over 20 lions in the 3 days there, 3 leopards, and all the usual big 5 plus more. They do a good job here, we had 4 roundels as we were 8 people, all but one of the ac worked,...

Satara i believe was a fine camp in its day , it was clear though that recently it has run into disrepair and is not being maintained properly. That out the way , the rooms had everything they needed though they were dated. Linen was clean and the camp grounds seemed to be in poor condition - with no detail...

Satara is definitely the Big Cats park. Had a great time here. Its very hot so pack lots of cool clothes. If possible, do food shopping before heading there as it's extremely remote and the shop doesn't offer that much. Unfortunately no coffee and tea is provided in the Rondavels so you have to go to the Mug and Bean...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Satara is a busy camp, and not without reason. It is situated in an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and the animals plentiful and diverse. The camp itself has a rustic charm, with the bulk of the accommodation set out in a series of circles. Satara is well wooded and the bird-life is prolific. At night the clink of fruit bats is fused with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. The calls of owls and nightjars add to the symphony that is punctuated intermittently by the whoop of hyena, the screech of jackal and the roars of lion. ... more   less
