Our guide Micah was the best from the moment we arrived until the time we left. He was a great tracker and knowledgeable about the area, animals and the country. We saw the big 5 while we were there and probably another 15 other types of animals. The staff went the extra mile with bush babies for every ride and in our beds to keep us warm. They greeted us every time we came back and thanked us several times for coming. The food was incredible wide variety and very delicious.
We had a wonderful time for the moment we arrived greeted by the amazing staff. Our accommodation was superb and food was marvelous with attentive staff Precious looked after us very well. Jacob, our guide, was very knowledgeable and dedicated and was helpful when we realized we had left a bag behind, and returned quickly to retrieve it.
Wow, just wow. Jock’s is just the best. Where to start? Well, the staff are brilliant, always smiling, helpful, anything you ask for they will oblige. Particular mention to Precious, Phil, Thabo and Delys. I know I have missed some, so thank you to all the staff. The accommodation is luxurious, Wi-Fi is always available. The private plunge pool was a god send in the heat. The food was outstanding, something different each day, alongside an extensive drinks menu. Onto the safaris, we did 9 in total with the magnificent Micah. Micah’s knowledge of the wildlife is something to behold. Seeing all the animals in their natural habitat was a dream but what made it extra special was how Micah taught us to track the animals. We can’t wait to return to Jock’s one day.
I visited Kruger and Jock Lodge in 2017 and all I wanted to do is come back. That happened in Jan 2022 and once again it was wonderful in every way. The location is on a normally dry river bed so you can see wildlife from your window or terrace. The staff is so gracious and helpful. The wildlife guides are the most knowledgable and enthusiastic I have ever met. I come for the beauty and the animals and Jock Lodge delivers every time.
Pretty run down (paint chipping off everywhere) and neglected (grounds not being looked after, fallen leaves and debris everywhere). Little and somewhat grumpy service (starting with having to take your luggage out of the car yourself) and average food. Game driver did his job but nothing to make the drives a real experience. Despite all this still feeling entitled to charge like a top lodge rendering one feeling ripped off.
We were lucky enough to celebrate a 70th birthday at Jock Safari Lodge and we loved absolutely every second of our stay. The staff offered exceptional service and made us feel so welcome and at home. The game drives were spectacular - we loved the beautiful scenery and were thrilled with some spectacular sightings big and small! Jacob, our game guide, shared so much interesting information with us, he had a wonderful sense of humour and had us all laughing along the way. Each and every staff member at Jock Safari Lodge made a 70th birthday treat one that will never be forgotten and always treasured. Jock we would love to come back!
That is the one word I would use to describe our experience at Jock. From the moment you arrive, you are treated with the utmost care and consideration. The game drives are awesome, the rangers are so knowledgeable and dedicated to providing the best possible experience, and the food and beverage service were top notch. I would recommend Jock to anyone who really wants to have the best possible safari experience in an extremely luxurious setting with a staff that is there for you 24/7.
I can't say enough good things about our experience at Jock Safari Lodge! It was our very 1st visit to Kruger National Park, and we had considered going with the private reserve option, but one of our friends who works as a travel agent said that you really can't replicate the experience of staying inside the Kruger. They were definitely right! It was so incredible to be able to explore the Kruger before and after the gates were closed to the public with our amazing guide, Lazarus, who was able to somehow spot things that should have been impossible to see! Incredible instincts! Jock Safari Lodge is in a concession in the Kruger which means that they and their guests have access to the entire park, but they also have 6000ha of land that is unfenced that the public are not allowed to visit. We got to see lions, rhino, elephants, buffalo, and leopard all in our first 16 hours in the park (and so, so much more), all within their private concession. We also ventured out to the public areas of the park and saw even more incredible stuff. What an experience! The rooms and the quality of service is absolutely incredible. It felt soo luxurious and we really felt like we were living the safari dream! The private chalet had it's own dipping pool, tented viewing deck, and outdoor bath, and it was so lovely to sip on a glass of bubbly while watching nature at work in the riverbed in front of us. I cannot recommend this experience enough, and I would love to return one day to visit the animals and staff at Jock Safari Lodge!!…
Luxury in the bush with a touch of history. Jock gets it’s name from the historical dog called “Jock of the Bushveld “ in the area where his epic story took place. This wonderful lodge nestled under the canopy of Jackal-berry trees overlooking the magnificent Biyamiti Riverine area is home to an excellent viewing of the big 5 and African painted dogs, as well as an abundance of a variety of flora and fauna. It is also a birders paradise. The beautifully appointed Main Lodge with its luxurious rooms all with River frontage creates a wonderful ambience. Their real gold is their staff who go out of their way to make one feel totally at home and relaxed. The guides are simply the best and their knowledge of the area and its natural assets are unsurpassed. Jacob who was our guide is an expert in his field and we learnt so much from him even though we have been going to the Kruger Park for many decades. The food and wine are out of the “top drawer”. Hosts, Louis and Belinda are truly wonderful and make this unique experience worth sharing. Their personal touch and attention to detail is unsurpassed. In conclusion this safari lodge is unique and a true bush experience. Only Jock vehicles traverse the area which means that there is no competition when viewing the game. This gives one the feeling that it is only your vehicle experiencing the outstanding flora and fauna. The landscapes, sunrises and sunsets are truly magnificent. Our heartfelt thanks to the Jock team for making our safari a memorable experience and we will definitely return. This lodge should be on your “bucket list”. In appreciation James and Lynette…
One could not ask for a better location in the game reserve. The staff were without exception wonderful. Friendly, helpful and just a delight. The game drives were a highlight and our ranger was the best. His knowledge and stories made the experience so much more than just a drive in the bush. The food was good and ample. We can highly recommend the venue and would love to go back one day. Although they claim to be COVID-19 aware and the staff all wore masks all the time, there was someone taking your temperature each time you entered the reception area, the wearing of masks by the guests was not enforced at all. We did bring this to the attention of the general manager who promised to do something about it, but over the following two days, we did not see any improvement. This was very disappointing and something Jock should pay much more attention to. If they are not going to serve me with alcohol, because of the rules, then they MUST also enforce this rule.…
