Positiv: Only 7 cottages, very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Feeling a bit like old times, unfortunately the old petrol lamps outside disappeared just recent. Large outside kitchen and sitting area. Large area for game drives only for camp guests. The most beautiful picnic spot with view nearby. Negativ: Small bedrooms, no possibility to sit inside when there is a strom... More

Bateleur Bush Camp is in the gammadoulas (off the grid) in Kruger. It is a small camp, with comfortable, rather dated, accommodation. Visitors have the exclusive access to two lovely dams so overcrowding doesn't occur. There's a bird hide in the camp so if you feel like a stay at home day in the park, this camp is ideal. I... This is also a wonderful camp to stay in although it is quite far North so make sure it is in the middle of your break. The rooms are very comfortable and the best is that all your cooking as well as relaxation is done on the veranda. There is also a wonderful hide in the camp with a waterhole... More

The unit we stayed in was clean and well-equipped. We went on the night drive but saw very little. The hide was pleasant and we had some very good sightings of elephant. The outlook from our unit (and others nearby) was not scenic as it consisted of looking upon other units surrounding us together with some dense vegetation directly in... More

We had an enjoyable 10 day stay in Kruger NP, 2 nights of which was in Bateleur. We felt as if this the least well maintained camp we stayed in, from rooms to the hide. It is one of the smallest camps, and has standard SANParks type accommodation with a few differences. It has airconditioning and a television.....both of which... More

A small camp (7units) where I could easily spend a week. We had Unit 1 (sleeps 6, each couple has a room. The main bedroom had air-conditioning. The unit was very close to the hide, and the animals were visible from the verandah- almost like have one's own private camp. Only slight inconvenience was the very large dining furniture on... This secluded camp is a supurp bushveld camp. The manager and staff are excellent and very familiar with the animals and birds in the area. The night drive was great and we saw several nocturnal animals including a leopard. Because it is a bushveld camp, there are no stores or restaurants so be prepared to bring your own food and... Bateleur is a small secluded camp away from everything. If you want peace and quite this is the place.Great for birds and when conditions are right great game viewing. The red rocks river is the main water source here so game relies on this river. We went when river pretty dry but still saw game around area including elephants and giraffe etc.... More

Our little group booked two chalets next to one another, and we were all well satisfied with this quiet, well run camp. The staff get applause all around as they were very helpful, and keep the place spotless. One can obtain the use of a TV for small deposit, but we were quite happy to be without. There is a... More

Bateleur is decidedly off the beaten track, which is why we chose it. It's a space for privacy, quiet, relaxation and self-sufficiency. For those less prepared, it's not all that far from the more touristy Shingwedzi, which has an excellent shop. The open kitchen/boma/seating area (with fridge and chest freezer) is a wonderful space from which to watch the many... More

“I would choose chalets 1 or 2 as the others seem more exposed to fellow guests. Chalet 1 is a 6-sleeper I think, chalet 2 is for 4. Not that easy to request though when booking.”
