My husband and I have just spent five nights in a four-sleeper cottage at Mopani. The cottage was well stocked with furniture and a full kitchen with all necessary utensils. The bedding was of a good quality and spotlessly clean. The unit was serviced everyday and this included the washing of dishes. All staff at reception, the shop and restaurant...

Mopani was our first camp of a twelve night visit and as we only stayed for one night I had no complaints, the room was perhaps a bit more basic than some of the others but it was very clean. We had a very good dinner on the balcony at the restaurant but there were loads of flying bugs which...

Stayed at Mopani from the 14/02 to 17/02. The room was well maintained and well serviced very new and has everything you need but that is where it ends. The camp is poorly maintained it is over grown with weeds and ants is all over the property, the staff was friendly but could be more helpful. The shop and restaurant...

We stayed two nights at Xanatseni guest lodge. This is a 4 bedroomed guest lodge set apart from the normal rondavels and very private. There is a central living area with sofas and a kitchen area. Like most accomodation in Kruger the bedrooms are clean and basic and, thankfully, air conditioned. The main problem with Xanatseni is that large parts...

We stayed one night in 2 bungalows with 10 people. Theybungalows were clean and the kitchens are equipped with all the basics one needs. The beds were comfortable and had warm blankets for the cold night.

Mopani has a lovely outlook from the Tindlovu restaurant and the Tindlovu is ten times better than the Mugg and Bean restaurants in many of the other rest camps. The accommodation is again very basic. Structurally the rooms are sound but again they are let down with dark small shower and toilet areas, dismal cupboards and a/c units that belt...

The camp is beautiful and the restaurant bar area is wonderful with a view over the river to die for. Our room was one of the standard ronda els with kitchenette and on-suite. Very overgrown outside which isn't awful but could be neatened up a little. The rooms are starting to get a little tired and need some maintenance. But...

We have stayed in Mopani Camp many times before. You are always welcomed by friendly efficient staff. Accommodation is always immaculate. The view over the dam at sunset can not be described. Many a time do I miss the afternoon game drive, so I can be on the veranda at sunset. The pool area is beautiful and always clean. We...

Great views from the deck bar, staff super friendly. Surrounded by trees, river view and plenty of elephants on the way into the camp, this must be the best camp to book if you don't want to rough it in a tent. Will definitely be back!

We have spent many, many nights in the Kruger Park over the last 20 years and see it a one of South Africas BEST tourist attractions. (Probably the best way to see a real part of Africa! ) But recently we could not look past the dated chalets anymore, with the old bathrooms, the kitchens that REALLY need updating, the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On the banks of the Pioneer Dam in the Kruger National Park, lies it's best kept secret. Named after the mopane veld that surrounds the camp, Mopani Rest Camp nestles amongst the Mopani tree covered koppies. A signature feature is the huge gnarled old baobab tree in the heart of the camp. The vegetation inside the camp is left as found in the wild, adding to the unique atmosphere of the camp. ... more   less
